excellent little video, whe i was in VN in 72 I participated in a sapper demo, we were told to watch a few VN standing outside the permieter of camp, then they disappeared into the foliage; we stood their listening to orientation and details about sappers then they popped up right behind us inside the perimeter, had gotten thru the concertina wire crawling with slivers of bamboo in fingers and mouthes to detect mines no problem, what a demo.

El Salvadoran Army (FAS), which is mostly American trained, paid dearly in blood not have been thought the American experience with the Vietnamese sappers. Most of the most espectacular attacks by the FMLN guerrillas against the FAS were carried out by sappers trained in Vietnam or possibly Cuba but the concept was definetely Vietnamese. What the guerrillas lacked in armor and heavy equipment they made it up in sapper power. Most 1st generation sappers who trained in Nam didn't survive the war.
Those sappers would go into actiong wearing dark underwear or shorts to be able to feel their surroundings in the dark with their bodies painted or covered in dirt for camo. The would crawl (and they had developed many crawling techniques) to their target, silently breaching the barbed wire and obstacles and inactivating the land mines. Once inside their target base or camp the would attact from the center outwards using hand thrown explosives. Extremely simple techniques but so deadly!

I'm german-vietnamese and I have to admit that the Wehrmacht uniform is simply the best!
Love that breeches and jackboots. The uniform of the Luftwaffe nowadays kicks ass, too! Have you ever seen it?

The SS uniforms were tailored much better to show a divide between the two...
Also, Wehrmacht jsut means "defence force" and includes the navy, army, and air force. You mean, "the Heer" (army), right?

@zzztriplexzzz how can you say that the Vietnamese peoples army is the strongest army of the world when they defeated all of those armies over 30 years ago sure the guerrilla tactics were effective but lets face it, its not really ground fighting tactics that win modern war, it something called shock and awe ever heard of an ICBM?

No actually, it can work as a simple basis. Capitalism destroys humans, and it's not within people's nature to want something. That's why it is possible, but for that a long transition is needed. But it a stateless society is proven to be possible, look at town Marinelada in spain. It's a matter of state of mind.
Humans can live in peace without being ruled. Actually , some caveman tribe lived sort of communist society, so did some american indigenes before the coming of the conquistadors

And in fact,in battle "dac cong" never wear helmet :D(they almost wear NOTHING).

El Salvadoran Army (FAS), which is mostly American trained, paid dearly in blood not have been thought the American experience with the Vietnamese sappers. Most of the most espectacular attacks by the FMLN guerrillas against the FAS were carried out by sappers trained in Vietnam or possibly Cuba but the concept was definetely Vietnamese. What the guerrillas lacked in armor and heavy equipment they made it up in sapper power. Most 1st generation sappers who trained in Nam didn't survive the war.

Those sappers would go into actiong wearing dark underwear or shorts to be able to feel their surroundings in the dark with their bodies painted or covered in dirt for camo. The would crawl (and they had developed many crawling techniques) to their target, silently breaching the barbed wire and obstacles and inactivating the land mines. Once inside their target base or camp the would attact from the center outwards using hand thrown explosives. Extremely simple techniques but so deadly!

Dear Milky0candy, where can I find more information about the Vietnamese sappers? the only book I've found about sapper techniques that is kind of descent but still incomplete is 'From Vietnam to El Salvador the saga of the FMLN sappers and other special forces in latin America' by David Spencer. I want to know about the Vietnamese sappers that trained the sapper guerrillas from El Salvador.
