Yes sadly Vegas does no accept .avi files. You just have to convert them to either .wmv & .mpeg, depending on what conversion thing you use. I use Real Player Converter or Any Video Converter. Both can be downloaded online for free. If you need anything else just let me know.
I use any video converter and convert them to wmv and they work fine then.
