  • it looks good taste good

  • this looks good.. im gonna try this.. =)

  • Hi Maangchi, I wanted to ask what are the side dishes you are having with the porridge?

  • kimchi, that's it. If you want to prepare more side dishes, spinach side dish, and soy bean side dish will be good, too.

  • MUCH THX! The family enjoyed it! ^_^

  • Thank you for your update!

  • so you dont use cooked rice?

  • Yummy! what song is in the background?

  • It's "Head Over Heels" by the Go-Go's

  • Big bowl. o_O

  • i just wonder, can i change the rice into brown rice? i've tried it for the second time, but i cant make it into sticky form.

  • the key to porridge is the starch that is pulled out of the rice. brown rice grains still have the bran layer over it, making it difficult for the starches to be pulled out. if you really want to keep trying with brown rice, one suggestion (that hasn't been tested!!) might be to partially grind the rice after soaking. might ruin texture though. my grandma makes jook with i think a 2:1 ratio of white to brown and i believe she grinds the brown up in a blender. hope that helps!!

  • I made this last night for my boyfriend because he is not feeling so good lately, but with shrimp instead. It came out so delicious ! I wanted to use abalone, but I accidentally bought a simulated one, sort of like fake crab. I will try to find real one, I don't think the one I bought sounds good. I love this recipe, and I am so glad I found your channel. I will keep trying more.

  • Congratulation! As long as you use the recipe, you can make so many different kinds of porridge! Thank you for your update! hope you bf gets well soon!

  • how delicious!!!!!

  • That's very nice video; make me hungry.

I am going ro make it perhaps on the weekend.

    Cheers

  • I love porridge!

    Thank you so much MAANGCHI!

  • Did you mention I can substitute the abalone with ground meat instead? Even with the fish sauce in it?

Your recipes look so good as always.

  • yes, I did.

  • what exactly are abalones maangchi? o.o

  • check the ingredient section on my website. It's seafood and taste's like clam.

  • Thank you very much! I reported it to my server people. I hope it's fixed as soon as possible.

  • now my website works!

  • What's the cost of abalone in your area Maangchi, I know several traditional Chinese/Asian? stores down here in So Cal USA carry $60 to $70 per CAN US$....

So is it cheaper to buy raw?

  • I paid about $10.00 for the 2 frozen abalones.

  • Your frozen ones appear a ****-of-a-lot better. So I'm really baffled why it's so insane a price with much inferior quality (canned). As I said once before - "Ai-Yaa!"

  • i am hungry now :)

  • Nice video, I love abalone porridge.

  • Maangchi, you are the best! When I moved away from the bay area, I also moved away from korean food restaurants and happiness. Being able to cook my favorite foods again has filled a little hole in my heart and a large on in my stomach!

  • Those are large abalone!

  • Can you make it a fried rice dish by not adding the 7 cups of water?

  • you'd have to cook the rice before adding it.

  • abalone is so expensive

  • Great recipe and video! A simple to make and very yummy dish.

  • Your animation is seen well.

It is a big fan of your dish animation.

Your animation was seen and the Kimchi was made.

It was possible to do delicious though it became salty by using the salt a little too much and it put it away.

It is instigating of the abalone of the rice gruel delicious dish.

  • i can't find abalone in my country :s

  • then use shrimp or clams as I mentioned in this video. I sometimes make porridge using clams. It's delicious!

  • can i use olive oil instead of sesame oil?

  • sesame oil that' s what you need to make delicious jeonbokjuk. : )

  • Yummy in my tummy

  • thankyou!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hi maangchi........i was just wondering, what kind of knife do you use???? It looks like it cuts so well!!!!

  • so the rice is already cooked when you put in right?

  • a little cooked. Check my written recipe on my website plz. thank you!

  • I use to think abalones were big shitake mushrooms when they were cooked lol.

  • thanks for the video~ do you know how to make galbi-tang by any chance?

  • 오! 짱이시다!

    색깔낼래면 완두콩이랑 피망종류를 넣어도 될까요?

  • I love juk.

  • I was wondering maangchi, have you made shabu shabu before?

  • not yet, but someday. Thank you very much for your request.

  • Hm...m, . . . I'm sooooo hungry.

  • Is it abalone really expensive? I always think that is expensive. Anyway, I can your way of making porridge, I will try.

I see you have flower on the kitchen counter!

  • yeah, it's a little expensive, but not that much.

  • yep!i'm 25 cents korean!! : ) haha!

  • sorry a quarter korean sounds weird! well 1/4 then! haha! i love the foods korean's make! my grandmother cooks all of the time and makes very similar things that you do!!

  • I've never tasted abalone but I've always been curious to taste this porridge. May I ask what the abalone tastes like? :)

  • I don't know what it tastes like either xP! But I see it in the supermarket often. They keep them in those small fish tanks and the abalone is stuck on the glass.

  • hey! my grandmother is fully korean and

i 'm a quarter korean and she makes bulgogi all the time!! i love it!

  • funny expression "a quarter Korean" : )

  • thanks for the recipe :)

woot! time to make some porridge~
