  • back in the old days of sesame street, i think the whole "let's get along" message was implicit. once sesame street got into the 80's, they pushed it too hard. then they introduced Elmo, and sadly, the show was never the same again. btw, RIP Jim Henson. Genius.

  • The message here is quite clear: STOP THE HATRED AND PREJUDICE!!!

  • great vid!..we all sing with the same voice..sesame street was too epic..just too epic..

  • ('I have 1 dad & I've got 2') 2 dads - This most likely means that the kid has a biological father & mom remarried - so she has a stepfather!

  • We did have a 6 year old running the country..

His name was George W. Bush

  • The show is designed for inner city kids. Yet, one of the kids in the video is "in the mansion by the beach." I see 2 things wrong here

  • @pattypopping :D

Isn't it "In the mountains, on the beach"? Maybe there are mountains on the beach, or more likely its 2 different kids, one lives in the mountains, one on the beach.

  • @pattypopping: It's "in the mountains, on the beach". No mansions here, though both kids could be rural depending on which mountains/beach they mean!

  • What a charming song :) Many different cultures and beliefs, but we're all the same in many ways. Awesome.

  • Just think, today these kids are now bitter 40 year-olds pushing each other on the subway.

  • @ArtesticTalents that's a good one ...you think one of them might be a porn star too?

  • All these kids are now in there 40's.

  • no we dont i sing in a league and these kids r annoying but i came in first for everyone ive been in

  • !!!!!WHITE POWER!!!!!

  • This is awesome. What year is this from?

  • Wow! What year was this?

  • veggie monster!!!!!!!!

  • The message here is clear...No matter your name, race, country, eye color, or what have you, STOP THE HATRED!

  • and when its time for bed......my daddy gives me head....you tell your ma', your dead....my name is you

  • lol no way! i havent heard this in like 20 years. sesame street has to be one of the best shows ever created

  • i actually have green brown and blue eyes strait up

  • When i was little I thought the girls were saying "We all sing with the same BOYS"....don't know why lol but that is what I thought...

  • @Pattonfrodo hahahahahahahahha

  • Thank you for posting this! I used to get so excited when this was on Sesame Street that I would run to my mom and make her watch with me :)

  • Thank you for the video and for being brave enough to let everyone comment regardless of some of the mean things people might say. This is just one more small voice in the crowd that wants to share my gratitude for people like you. *smiles*

  • Apparently the 15 people who disliked this song sings off key

  • my god where did the time go. this feels like yesterday.

  • @fry21100 I'm pretty sure they mean stepdads or something like that

  • @MarshalGrover And so what if they actually mean a couple? The people who created Sesame Street were/are a lot saner than the general population, so I wouldn't put it past them.

  • @MarshalGrover gay dads are cool too! it's not my way but let kids be loved!

  • @MarshalGrover Based in New York City in the 80's, they mean two dads. Sesame Street is awesome.

  • @fry21100 talking about a step dad

  • @fry21100 and if they dont mean step-father. so what?

  • @fry21100 Uh... yeah. Like an adoptive gay couple.

  • @fry21100 Maybe it's a dad & stepdad...maybe 2 dads coupled. Point is it's many different people, cultures & beliefs living in HARMONY...having mutual respect for one another while each follows the dictates of their own hearts. Awesome song!

  • @fry21100 i only just realized that was in the song lol n i always sang that as a kid...wow...just goes to show.....

  • @fry21100 Is that a problem for you?

  • oh man i remember this song, i loved this song growing up... i still do. makes me wish i was young again when life was simple and carefree.

  • mad memories and i loved all the classic SS vids on youtube not like the ones they have now but i have to say I didn't know they represented for the gays back then just listen at time 1:2...! its only when you get older that you get to understand all that was said

  • the above suggestion of having kids rule or be advisors to international organizations and countries.. is a wonderful idea.

however there is an organization that is a youth nation... look it up on google... but they dont have much power.

  • I love this song, remember it from when I was a kid (and I'm 22 now). If only more grownups would remember this. We're all people, regardless of where we live, what language we speak, what religion we follow, who we love. We all want the same things: Happiness, love, safety, peace. If we're going to teach this message to our children, we need to follow our own lessons as well. "We all sing with the same voice".

  • @TheaterRaven

That is a very beautiful thought my friend!

  • @TheaterRaven

That was very beautifully put! You deserve to be in the top comments section!

  • @Smartboy8877 Thanks!

  • @TheaterRaven

    You are entirely welcome!

  • thats funny ha ha ha ha

  • 14 people who viewed this video most likely forgot what it was like to be innocent children.

  • I just love this song. I remember always singing it when I was little. It was one of the songs I really loved, and still do. So many memories. Admittingly I sometimes sing this song when I've had a bad day. Yeah...still remember every word. It makes me happy. Thank you for uploading. =)

  • Amazing :) Let's teach our children to love one another and accept our differences!

  • @Shanda862004

That is very good attitude my friend!

  • @Smartboy8877 Thank you!

  • as an adult I think I enjoy these songs the same or even more so than when I was a kid. peace and love, man.

  • why cant tv still be like this. When i have children im going to order all the old sesame streets and good children tv shows from when i was a kid so my kids can watch something genuine.

  • We All SIng With The Same Voice is actually from 1982.

  • "Ive got one daddy, I've got two!" YEEEES! I would always sing this song while I was swinging when I was a kid. This line just made it impossibly cooler. Thanks for posting!!

  • This song reminds me of that old coca-cola commercial...........

  • This is one of my top ten sesame street songs besides: 1. "Rubber Duckie" 2."Brush Boogie" 3. "Doing the Pigeon" 4. "J Friends" 5. "Exit" 6. "We All Sing With the Same Voice" 7: "Bein' Green" 8: "Dance Myself To Sleep" 9. "The People in Your Neighborhood" 10. "Jazz # 2".
  • Why can't life always be like this video?

  • @BoNs414

That is a very lovely thought! I wish I could come up with an answer to your question!

  • Wow...some of my best memories when i use watch this song was playing outside and playing hide go seek. Amazing this song still stays n my head after 25 years...thanx 4 uploadin this clip! =D

  • one of the best sesame street songs ever

whenever i watch this i get soooo many memories and realize that the part of me that appreciates this never grew up with the rest of me and I won't change it

  • At first I thought they were saying "We all came with the same boy."

  • A beautiful idea isn't it...

And all it takes is Americans and Isrealis to spread their racist militaristic "values" to fuck it up for everyone

  • I remember this too. Its nice to see this stuff again. Reminds me of innocence

  • this is so nice and brings back such great memories, that I get goosebumps!! thanks for posting.

  • OMG!!!! This was my favorite song when I was like...3. It was my favorite part of sesame street lol

  • OMG! I remember this!!!!

  • OMG! MEMORIES~

  • I remember this very well :)

Kids today should be able to enjoy SS the way it was.

  • WOW! I thought I remembered this toon from somewhere. How cool is this!

  • I wish PBS created PBS On Demand so we can watch these old episodes dating back to the very first one the same with Mister Rogers and other programs like Today's Special.

  • @travelplus1 There is a PBS section inthe Kids section in my On Demand here in Miami, FL.

  • This was shot where I grew up! Peace.

  • I remember this- a lovely song.

  • This song makes me feel like we should have an international group of 6 year olds running the planet. Couldn't be worse...

  • @jorloff

I'm guessing you've never read Lord of the Flies....:D

  • omg i feel so sad i totally forgot about this song i feel like an old lady. =(

  • HOLY CRAP I had totally forgotten about this song! Jeeze I feel old. I love the tune :)

  • who does the sining voice a boy or girl? makes you think

  • Thank u Sesame Street, for every lesson you taught was a good one :)

  • Which is why when I have kids I'm going to track down recordings of the old Sesame Street Shows for my kids to watch.

  • i liked this song when i was a kid and that girl who had to dads well she might have a step dad we wil never know

  • Is it ironic that the comments for this Sesame Street segment ended up in political ad hominem attacks?

  • That is because the people who do that are the dumbest people on the face of the Earth.

  • So getting along with people from that are different from you is a bad thing to you? Sounds like you are a racist, not a conservative. I'm no liberal pansy turd, but the message in this song is what all kids should be taught. As a conservative, I am ashamed to be on the same side of the political spectrum as you. The fact that you oppose kids learning that skin colour, background or handicaps shouldn't be an obstacle to being friends and playing together is ridiculous.

  • These are very good videos for my

grandkids to watch with us. They are

    a 10 in my opinion.

    Sue Steinmetz

  • Anyone have the MP3 version of this song.

  • What was the book he was reading? 2:03

  • @sheeladumond I think it's Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

  • we all sing with the same voice... i remember this. SOOOO much, when racism and hate was never a word in our vocab... sad! WOW Sesame street, thank you Happy 40

  • I agree with you on what you've said, racism and hate wasn't in our vocab, i love the message in this clip.

  • @sievangattuso But this wasn't too long after the end of segregation in the US - I was born in '72 My dad was Black, mom was Chinese and I grew up being annoyed that the stupid people would always ask me "what I was" (as if that mattered!). I'll bet the invention of tv might have sped that process up some - allowing people to see lives that were not like their own. The internet now has that power with the additional ability for direct communication around the world!

  • Happy 40th Anniversary, Sesame Street! Thank you for all you have done for millions of us!

  • i remember this song!!!!!

  • i loved this one brings back memories

  • thanks for posting i love this, miss old school sesame street

  • Holy crap this brings back memories.

  • Who was the horse at the beginning and end of this video, Fred or Buster, and who was his voice?

  • i heard this song a lot when i was little

  • Does anybody know the sesame street clip with the kids in the classroom who are dancing and they keep moving at different speeds as the speed of the music that's playing changes? It had to be from the 70s-80s. I remember seeing it back in 92-93.

  • In complete agreement with prev posts, thought they were saying "boys" vs. voice.

Was it really a simpler time (I think so)? It seems like the sky was bluer, grass greener-- rose-colored lenses?

  • I could swear there's one where a child is actually crying when it says when I want to cry I do...

  • I think you're right. I remember that, too!

  • WOW... memoriesssssss!

  • I remember this from when I was a kid...this is classic!

  • i've been searching this video for years! thanks for sharing this video!

  • I used to think it was "We're all playing with the same boys, the same girls....the same boys.....and we sing in harmony...."

I was such a misguided child, lol

  • i used to think something similar, i though "boys" instead of voice, and i was always confused because i saw girls in the video

  • this really brings back memories....ahhh, when times were simple....i still can sing this song like its beyonce's!!!

  • Wow, I so remember this song. Great tune!

  • these kids sang with the same scream, after going down that old metal slide. those things used to be brutal in the summer!i think you can get 3rd degree burns from them,

  • I love this song! <3 One thing I never noticed as a child, however is the "I have 2 dads" part! Wow, that went right over my 4-year-old head! It's a sweet song about diversity, I dig it.

  • I was thinking the EXACT same thing :)

  • OMG, I haven't heard this in YEARS!! Thank you so much for posting!

  • I totally remember this song!!! I am 27 now...I loved it!

  • thank you children for telling me where you live. DIDN"T YOU'RE PARENTS EVER TEACH YOU NOT TO TALK TO STRANGERS?

  • The name of the song is really.. "MY NAME IS YOU.." lol

  • wow... still know all the words 20+ years later!

  • Twenty-something years later, and I still remember every lyric. I love this song to bits, and I always will. ^_^

  • I used to sing this with my grandma when we watched the sesame street sing along like, everyday. haha goood times.

    :D

  • i'm called kareem abdu

  • Another Sesame Street classic!

  • i'm 32 now.

    i love this song-tori

  • this is the cutest song i've heard!

    emma x_x

  • I will always remember this song fondly. It seems silly, but I was quite happy to see it here. I appreciate the positive message that encourages us appreciate each others differences. Too bad that we all don't follow this simple and lovely message.

  • I love this song and i too will always remember it as well. I agree with what you said, i too think it's too bad we all don't follow the same message. I was born in 1982 and i still remember this song when i saw kids rollarskating, i also saw them helping eachother up if one fell down. I think this should be shown to little children today the 1980's were a very simple time i love Sesame Street from the 80's so many memories.

  • my aunt erica is at 1:16

  • Amazing song/video, a bag full of memories. I really appreciate this Marshal, but if I were you I'd consider disabling comments. Some of the commentary really indignifies the beauty of the video.

  • I would, but it's comments like your that make me not want to.

  • A beautiful song!

  • They made us sing this in kindergarten. At the time I had a thick German accent and I remember the other kids pointing out that my voice was in fact different :(

  • oh my god, I am 30 years old now. it just hit me watching this. Oh my god!

  • I remember watching this when I was a kid. It was the only song that stuck with me. Brings back memories.

  • I so love this song. It was one of my fav. skits on Sesame Street when I was a kid. =D Brings back great memories!!!

  • I love this song! I remember sing my mother singing it to me. So much good memories with this song.

  • I remember this song from when I was a kid. I have the cd and book and I start out each week in my first grade class singing it with them. I have 8 nationalities represented in my class of 24 and it's truly a thing of beauty to hear them sing it. They also write their own verses each year which is a real treat. So nice to see this video again. Brought back memories.

  • I would love to hear them on mp3 if that were possible.

  • "I've got one daddy. I've got twooo!"

    Whoa! XD

I've always loved this song, but that totally got a chuckle out of me! What happened to this kind of open-minded kid entertainment?

  • I had the same thought, but I'm pretty sure she just means there's two people in her family (her and her dad). Still, I'm okay with it either way!

  • I think she speaks of a dad and a step dad

  • I thought that too! There was a kids in my grade school that had step dads so that made sense to me

  • Maybe it means her parents are gay? I mean, it makes more sense than "step-ad" because most kids at that age, if they had a step dad and a biological dad, would only know the step dad.

  • Oh honey, theres no "maybe" about it. :)

  • I think I share the same sentiment for this song that most of you do. Decades later it is still near and dear to me. I frequently find myself humming it when I want to cheer myself up.

  • I know I'm a weepy sap, and worse since I had my own kid, but this song always makes me tear up. I love it.

  • Me too. It brought back memories.

  • me too ;>

  • My kids love this song, and remember it from days in kindergarten.

  • Either way, this song gives me goosebumps some two decades after hearing it last. I still remember so many of these young faces. What a beautiful message. Classic!

  • wow.... dis brings backs memories....kinda of naive dat i believed dat but dats d the beauty of being a kid....i miss those days

  • I think ADULTS should seriously listen to this song. It sends a positive message of harmony!

How much better when friends rejoice together.

  • i loveeeee it and did when i was little too

  • love this video....and so does my son. It was on sesame street when I was a kid, more than twenty years ago. It shows how we are all different, but we are all the same.

  • You know this is what makes sesame street so great is like this song it teaches people real values such as compassion, truth, community, tolerance, dedication, determination, motivation, acceptance, open-mindedness, justice, friendship, to keep trying, respect. Those vaules would never get old even though Sesame Street today teaches them in a corny way to little kids.

  • this song always makes me cry at the end lol im a punk i remember my mom recorded this for me and i always played it over and over

wow i got two daddies i never noticed that part

  • It'd be pretty cool if that line were about gay daddies, but I'm fairly certain it was simply a reference to stepfathers, only because that scenario is more common. But who knows?

  • Comment removed

  • I remember this shit...I loved this....

  • =] Hell yah. It was my fav Sesame Street song. I think I also loved the "Don't Waste Water" song xD

  • Actually, it was just called "water" =]

  • why do we have war again?

  • Always my favourite Sesame street song. I'd love to see a remake done with all the kids grown up...

  • This clip on sesame always used to brighten up my day. It always made me happy and started the day off on the right foot. Just the music, message, and the unity put me in a good mood. The other small vids in sesame weren't as good. GOOD TIMES... love it.

  • gotta love the kids glasses...and the wooden tennis racket.

this song has been in my head for days,

    ahhhhhhh

  • holy crap! I totally forgot about this...so nice. Why can't we live like this?

  • down with communism!!!

  • As a kid, I used to always think they were saying, "We all sing with the same boys. The same song. The same boys." LOL

  • xD Haha

  • This is one of the first songs I'm going to play for my niece when she's born.

  • I have to say my son is 6 years old he loves to come home every day after school and we spend half an hour watching the old cartoons on youtube like smurfs and alvin and the chipmunks and he man. But ihave to say the 70's sesame street especially this one is his favorite he doesn't even want to touch the video games anymore after school i wsh this was still on tv thank goodness for youtube for keeping it alive........

  • sh3t, dis bringz bacc memoriez.
