  • In the 1840s when the story was made it was completely standard to be racist and to deem everthing else than the western way of life as unworthy hence cultural imperialism was a big topic in that century when europe thought it had the right and duty to civilize the "uncivilized" world. In that sense this story was groundbreaking. (Btw: There have been really racist Popeye episodes even 100 years later that are now banned.)

  • Dem Mohr sein schwanz ist sicher größer als eure zusammen.

  • I think some people are totally misinterpreting the author's intention for the story. It's for getting it through the kid's head how it feels to be a person which is mocked by others because of superficial characteristics. I read many of those stories as a child und es war mein Schaden nicht! :)

  • ab 1:37 der erste von den 3 typen mit dem runden reifen oder was er da hat... is das Hitler oder was?

  • Now they have no thumbs. Good night.

    But seriously:

Bein black is the punishment? Thats not right. If they would have made fun of a disabled person it would have man sense to cripple them (in the logic of the tale). It is pro tolerance, but it still wasnt very thoughtful or clever, like any of the Hoffman stories, which are basically the dumbest stuff youll ever read.

  • @Dominian1 i know right? that's the german mindset for you. i swear there are still some people here who thinks that's okay. german tv is like that all the time. there's 0 political correctness.

  • @Dominian1

it's from 1840 and pretty revolutionary to tell kids to NOT make fun of a black man. 120 years later in the USA black ppl still had no rights.

  • wow, es ist irgendwie erstaunlich, dass es damals schon eine geschichte gab die kinder zu toleranz ermahnt

  • Das ist richtig gut geworden! Lobloblobloblob^^

  • wait, i'm not german speaking so, let me see if I got it:

those 3 kids are mocking the black guy, so santa claus drowned them into his huge ink bottle.

  • @TankShock087 that's right.

  • @TankShock087 you got it right, mate

  • Für das 19. Jahrhundert war diese Geschichte geradezu revolutionär.

  • Disturbing

  • @rasta593 no it isnt if you knew what they were saying it would actuly make sence the boy were making fun of the black kid because he was black and not white then Nicholas came and dunked them in black ink making them even more black thank the balck kid and yeah if they hadnt made fun of him Nicholas wouldnt have had punished them

  • Ein Kohlpechrabenschwarzer Mohr!
