  • Not to self: Don't use autoland when radalt is TU. Seriously, it seems odd that they would use full autoland with the RADALT down. Normally, autoflare is triggered when radalt indicates 50'. This is well-known. So, if it ain't workin'... But, it does not affect the needles during a manual ILS approach. Or even a locked ILS up to DH. It'a a little odd that pilots would trust the autoland with the radalt on the fritz.

  • woohoo! I'm the 28.000th viewer ^^

  • Another example of trusting computers, and not paying attention. I know we are going to a fully computer controlled airplane in the future, but I would never feel safe if flown by a computer, without no mechanical override ability...

  • Hey thanks man!

  • Add one more button (a big one) marked - "Radio altimeter F*CK*D / Disengage Auto Throttle"

Case solved - Next case please

In a few of these cases the solution is maybe add a - "This is F*CK*D" - button on each thing that can go wrong - to take it out of the equation

Or - to reverse the logic - button can be called - "LIKE" - or - "TRUST"

  • Retard mode? its for retards?

  • OMG

What idiot designs a system that has redundancy with 2 independent sensors and then make other systems rely on only one of these sensors.

How hard is it to program the system to crosscheck the 2 sensor readings and if there is a difference turn off and inform the pilot that he must fly the plane himself..

PS. Audio is out of sync ... alot

What the hell is redundancy worth if it is not used..

  • Apple should build plane cockpits ;)

  • Blonde is a MILF!

  • Thanx

  • The sound slowly gets out of sync over the course of the video.

  • Both boeing and airbus are making to complicated airplans.

But it doesn´t stop with them. everything now becomes over complicated.

Cars, ships , Blenders.... Everything !

    Why ? why !

  • Okay, all of this stuff with the plane stalling due to a bad altimeter...I wonder if this is similar to the cause of the Air France flight 447 crash.

  • The message at the end: if the plane is not doing its work then you have to take over it bla bla idk what precisely, but that is just an perfect message to say to all pilots

  • PRACHTIG BEDANKT :D!!!!!! its pilot mistake & computer failure i think

  • am I the only one that got annoyed from the blonde in the investigation room. her expression at 36.57 really makes me punch her in the face.

  • @Concequence why?

  • missed the opening scene today luckily it is on youtube :D

  • These new ACI's are great! Thanks!

  • i think that it is a pilot mistake,

  • wow this plane crashed on my birthday :\ rip to the 9 people that died

  • Can someone say software problem with the radio altimeter.....

  • @gotchaf4i I think it might have been a physical/hardware problem.

  • @aerocrasher problem was, autothrottle activates the "landing retard mode" when there is a difference in heights between the left radio altimeter and right radio altimeter during final approach. problem is now fixed on some aircrafts having a flight control computer with embedded autothrottle function. Now, autothrottle does get into "landing retard mode" when there is a height difference of 20 feet, between left and right radio altimeters. If the difference persists, autothrottle disengages.

  • @ozgurevrenakay mistype, here is correction: "Now, autothrottle does NOT get into "landing retard mode" when there is a height difference of 20 feet, between left and right radio altimeters. If the difference persists, autothrottle disengages."

  • I like the "Without a Trace" vibe in the investigation room. I think the headphones guy should sleep with the blonde at the end.

  • Ironic that in an effort to remove the complex pilot tasks to help ease their workload, the technology instead led them to make THE MOST basic piloting mistake. Stalling.

  • @AndrossKenobi yeah

  • 5th! THank you for posting this episode... :)

  • @loisiana Your welcome!

  • @aerocrasher Man Your Awesome The Quality Of your videos are superb thnx for sharing us those awesome episodes ; )

  • Just fly the damn airplane. Much like our music in which technology creates the boring shit instead of humans actually taking control and being vibrant and awake.

  • @bucinaus good point!

  • thanks for posting this!!! I LOVE this show!

  • @cduluk your welcome!
