Senator Sanders is a voice of truth crying out in a wilderness of hypocrisy, deceit, and the simple fact that the United States is, in fact, an oligarchy. It's a telling fact from Greenspan's fact that the late Ayn Rand attended his swearing-in as chairman of Gerald Ford's Council of Economic Advisers.
According to Greenspan, the profits and technology corporations can produce is far more important than the actual people living in the country. I'm guessing he must have looked up to Hitler, Mao, and Mussolini as his childhood heroes.
Greenspan look miserable. Every picture I find of him, he is NEVER smiling, maybe only smirking. But he does look quite depressed. This is what evil will do to someone, present them a false reality of happiness but in the process...rob them of REAL joy and emotion. Too bad he doesn't know GOD, the REAL GOD.
Greenspan seems like he is trying not to laugh. Its tough to be an economist. The only real troubling fact Sanders presented was the fact that business investment has been low. Also, the inequality thing is also troubling. But the rest are either non-issues or not true.
@Riddlerx333x LOL!!!!!!!! HA AH AHAHA! I was laughing when I read your comment.
pretending to be jewish would work, totally. I want to run the World Bank. "Ok, what are your qualifications? "Well, I am jewish, and I like violence. Does violence count"?
@Consumerofknowledge yeah Alan Greenspan used to be libertarian from what Ive read about him...used to attend Ludwig Von Mises institute a sound money think tank. I guess the greed and power got the best of him once he joined the FED.
Greenspan why did you join the darkside???? ALAN I AM YOUR FATHER!!!
@GnomesAmok So was FDR and he saved this country when we needed it and he took us up until Reagan and the Bushes and Obama put the nail in the coffin! RIP America it was nice while it lasted...
Everything Alan Greenspan does is justified by one measurement, the standard of living of Americans. He believes that his money tricks are all justified as long as our standard of living is high and rising. He feels justified in ignoring our anger because he feels we simply dont know whats best for us. He ignores the crushing stress that this money system puts on us. He ignores families that are being torn apart. He ignores the fact that the sufficient money never reaches the inner city.
@torque122 - It is frightening that Alan Greenspan doesn't know what he is doing. But it is even more frightening that he knows exactly what he is doing.
@jgposner Good thought---I recommend EVERYONE to read "Greenspan's Fraud" by Dr. Ravi Batra, pHd of Economics from SMU. It is a brilliant and undeniable charge and PROOF that this sack of shit Greenspan is public enemy number ONE when it comes to how the U.S. has crumbled economically and in the state that it is. Outstanding book!!!
@torque122 But wasn't he the one who predicted a great depression would occur in 1990 and it never did (even though, yes, there was a severe recession, it hardly compared to what occurred in the '30s)?
I dare ANYONE to find an elected official or economist of note who has even come within a fraction of this track record. It is beyond incredible, it is ingenious. PERIOD
Banks don't produce.. Banks take.. if you put in $1000 in a bank, the bank will steal it (~ $5 fees / month + %0.075 interest = robbery).. your $1000 that you earned by producing a product or providing a service, the bank will seize it and steal it.
@EgyptianPrinceCB ? As long as you maintain a required minimum, the bank won't charge you fees. They will pay you interest in return for depositing your money in the bank. If you know you can not maintain the minimum, then don't put your money in a bank. Would you rather have everyone keep their money under their mattress. Banks get paid for the service of guarding your money. If you don't like them, then keep your money in a safe in your house. Otherwise, don't make false accusations.
@EgyptianPrinceCB I agree with everything you said except the Jews part. I have a cousin who is half Jewish and his father is the Jewish parent, and his father has gone bankrupt and works as a regular worker at Home Depot.
@CJKaram I'm a wayward member of the tribe but I have no patience for Jewish fascism. Given history of Jews in Europe (pogroms, genocide, Inquisition), we have an obligation to confront pigs like Greenspan and other Jews who betray human kind, including other Jews, in order to green their portfolios. Jewish fascists can intimidate guilt ridden Gentiles, but free thinking Jews (eg. Chomsky, Finkelstein) must challenge those who give the Tribe a bad name, eg. Paulsen, Blankenfein, Geithner.
Bernie Sanders is one of the few truly great Americans left in politics. He really cares about this country. Of course there is a fat, drug addled pile of feces that comes on the airwaves each morning who will label Sanders a socialist because its his job to keep the public stooopid. If there were enough people like Bernie Sanders in the government we wouldnt be in a world of hurt as we are now. Bernie is obviously content to live on the salary he receives and work for the people of America.
I saw this live and I said to myself here is finally someone with enough balls to stand in front of this thief Greenspan. Republicans were doing nothing but kissing his behind and like stooges that they are asking lame questions. At the end of the hour the commentator said that they were a lot of people in the room apologizing in behalf of Sanders. They must have been the butt kissers Republicans, because noone in the right mind would argue what Sanders had to say face to face to Mr Money.
@volkl2006 He should apologize for Bernie. What kind of politician gets in front of the camera and rattles off one fact after another, all true, thereby undermining the goals of the uber rich? How irritating must it be to have some guy up there who doesn't understand that the American people are just sheep to be sheared? C'mon Bernie! Don't you know how much we pay the media to keep this crap quiet? And here you are blowing the lid off it! Thank God for Bernie Sanders, one of our last hopes...
@Waszma Bernie is an independant. But Democrats and common sense people should play this old clip as an ad over and over again to win elections. Our problem and I knew it back then is unemployment unemployment unemployment. Obama said right at the beginning of his campaign before going to the white house "these jobs are never going to come back". Like Europe that let greedy corporations relocate to North Africa and use slave labor and import their cheap goods without too much tariff,....
@Waszma ... we did let the export of jobs happen and now we will have a solid welfare recipient base to support like they do. The big erosion of jobs did not happen during Clinton like many right wingers try to twist the truth.
he is doing the same thing as raping small children, cutting them into pieces and eating them alive. just spread over the whole country, its values and its people. dr mengele and stalin are pussies compared to that asshole. he would eat them alive.
I'd like to know what Greenspan thinks skilled manufacturing workers are going to do when all of their jobs are gone. Work at walmart for minimum wage?
become slaves of course. that is the ONLY reason why the federal reserve was invented in the first place, after all. (by raping the gold standard based dollar, and killing Lincoln AND Kennedy.)
greenspan is full of crap, the fed suppressed about 6,000 life changing patents and if anything don't put a dime in their pocket, they crush it. The fed HAS TO GO. They have destroyed everything in America and corrupted every politician you can think of. They keep saying the economy is getting better that it will be a JOBLESS RECOVERY? WTF? Oxymoron anyone?
Info can be found looking up the American Academy of Science. They state over 6,000 patents have been suppressed in the US alone for national security reasons. What does that translate into? The FED not allowing it.
Greenspan says that it is more important to "defend" the purchasing power of workers but how much purchasing power does someone have when they are only making min. wage working @ Wal-Mart? And if making products in low-wage countries like China keeps prices low, then why did a pair of Air Jordans (which were made in Vietnam) cost $125 a pair? Perot once said that U can't sell sth to people who can't afford 2 buy it. Does Harvard-educated Greenspan not understand that?
How much does a gallon of gasoline cost jamfitz? Does the cost at the pump reflect the true cost of that gasoline? No. Once you take into account all the costs associated with getting that gasoline, it is closer to $7.00/gallon. Simplifying a given situation may be convenient, but it is misleading.
jamfitz001: While you would rather pay 30 cents, slavery would be even cheaper, but we outlawed that in the United States long ago. This is a moral question, not a business question. Why should americans act against their own best interest?
boy! greenspan was right on!!!!! since this video came out the economy straightened out, we all have jobs, and everything is just wonderfull, and we owe it all to greenspan~!!!! Greenspan for president!
this guy is the white horse for illuminati and he is gonna hide in israel .iss or underground basis.he dont give damn about people.they are well prepare with FEMA concentration camps for us.We have the stop illumnati(elites)to be able to control the world.Wake up before is to late.Time is coming??!!!!
What this video illustrates is the sneering contempt with which the wealthiest "Americans" hold their fellow citizens. Profits first, consequences be damned. Does Greenspan give one whit about the American middle class? Of course not! Why even ask that question? Greenspan has overseen a well coordinated attack on the American middle class. People are flocking to the US because of our open door immigration policy. AND: they were making .10 cents/hr in their home countries. Greenspan lies...
It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.
Henry Ford
Call your states senator and congressman.Ask them to audit the FED by supporting the following bills.
In congress Ron Pauls-HR 1207
In the senate Bernie sanders S-604
Call & tell them know how you feel about the war, torture, nafta, the patriot act etc.
Hi Josey, how refreshing it is to hear from Americans in these comments who actually know what they are talking about !
Till now I'd been relying on the 'Simpsons' for the light at the end of the tunnel as far as th US is concerned !
I've just been on another column trying, as politly as possible, to convince some Red-Neck that he's being ripped off by his own leaders and also that the United States isn't at the centre of the Universe.
How fittingly arrogant of a fine upstanding Englishman such as yourself to add that the "US isn't at the center of the Universe". Angry that the sun does set on the Great English Empire these days John? And of course your leaders haven't ripped off the people of the UK? Gordy doing a good job there? You pompas ass. Shut the fuck up and straighten out your own soon to be muslim country before you pass on your ignorant advice to anyone in the US.
Josey, I wonder if the leader of the movement to change the way our banking system currently runs in that Ron Paul, doesn't support health care as in Medicade, and he doesn't support encouraging purchasing goods and services by the government from our own businesses. Ron Paul also has not insisted that the military complex be made to account for the 4 Trillion missing , missing, unaccounted, and no one is looking for $.
Greenspan right wing Zionist fucker who has looted the American people ! he redirected the wealth of that country to the few leaving the mass of people with crumbs . CRIMINAL
We need to AUDIT THE FED, which is actually a bill in committee at this very moment as HR 1207. Please call your Representative and ask them to support it. There are already 124 Co-Sponsors for it. But then we need to keep the pressure on because the Senate will try and pass a bill that takes the teeth out of an audit, much like the current GAO audit authority is extremely limited.
It's painful watching this now and seeing how right-on Sanders was and how dead wrong Greenspan was. Especially when Sanders says, "I'd hate to see this economy if it were sinking." This current crisis is all the product of Greenspan, Reagan, and Gramm. They should be executed! (too bad Reagan's already dead)
More jobs loss comes from Technological Unemployment. Which is good because the Money system eventually fails due to that type of unemployment. Money is just an outdated invention. It's not important in the future.
Listen to Greenspans comment from 4:05-4:20. If we don't have jobs because we don't produce anything anymore, then how are we going to have any purchasing power? I'm surprised Bernard Sanders didn't call him out on that statement. I definitely like this guy Sanders!
bernie sanders is one of the few people in this country with any kind of power that actually cares about any of us enough to raise objections to they way we are so blatantly misused
Greenspan is a liar. Flat out liar. Go travel the world and see for yourself what an absolute liar Greenspan is; the only nations I've seen in worse shape than America are the ones that have had the misfortune of bearing the brunt of one of America's many imperialistic adventures.
And Greenspan thinks you're all stupid too! Because he knows most of you are too busy working like slaves to make ends meet to actually go out and see the real world!
US industry has lost ground against international competition, but its not because of our lack of protectionist laws, its because we are a country of beer swilling dopes who manage to dodge every opportunity their ancestors fought and died for them to have. Chinese & Indian kids who are lucky enough to go to school work their asses off. You suck, America. Go turn off NASCAR and read a book to your scrubby children before I stalk them on myspace and lure them to my house with emo and whippets.
I don't care if it costs me another two dollars. I buy american. If we are at the cutting of technology, why is every gadget made somewhere else? Standard of living? What is the standard in Brooklyn, Baltimore or East LA? What is my purchasing power if minimum wage stays the same for four or five years while prices go up. Never mind sending my son to college. I can't afford to send him on school trips. We build this country with our hands and our skills. What do rich people add to the cause?
... We are talking millions of people who VALUE education -- not fiberglas boats like my West-coast neighbors -- and yet they are being destroyed while ignored by the mass media. We need to FIGHT to TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY from the filthy NeoCons and internationalists who have raped this country.
You know, I a;ways hear -- especially here in politically "correct" and "diverse" California -- that this is just old racist Americans complaining that they are losing their jobs to foreigners. What it really is about, is the most decent, hard-working, and least-complaining TRUE "middle" (not UPPER "middle") class Americans of all races -- but especially white and black Americans -- who have been here for generations only to have watched their standard of living reduced to the poverty level.
I'm no Greenspan fan, but while Sanders is correct about some of the problems, he fails to properly trace the cause of the problems back to their source, which is the very policy that Sanders himself supports.
I love how people with the least to say, say the most...Susie. Susie, You really have understand what the Federal Reserve System has done to this country and EVERY MONETARY establishment in the world before you go off like this. Greenspan knows what real problems are, (you obviously don't know what the problem is and I don't blame you, because it is well gaurded secret) but he'll never speak the truth about how the FED has fucked the world, over and over and over and over and over.............
The job of Alan Greenspan was to balance uneployment with the interest rate & he did a damn good job- especially after September 11, 2001 (not one person reading this could have done a better job dealing w/ 911)
The average rate for a refi from 09/11/2001 to early 2003 was 5%- a very reasonable rate- anything over 6.75 os criminal in my opinion. After Bernanke took over people found themselves when the ARM expired at 8.5%-11% (not cool). The foreclosure crisis led to the "financial crisis" which could have been prevented in early 2007
To the person who brought up China & India and suggested I look @ a supply & demand chart- the price of gas in the last 3 weeks has gone from $4.55 to $2.23 - WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT HAVE TO DO W/ INDIA OR CHINA? Did China & India both have a calamity in the last 3 weeks where they no longer need oil?
If you absolutely need a scapegoat & find that Greenspan is the person you have a right to do that, just know I watched the entire hearing only to watch him be interrupted over & over. He is an extremely intelligent person who actually had a lot to say, yet disrespectful people had to point the finger & would not let him talk
The comments below "Greenspan caused this"..CAUSED WHAT?! The housing crisis? The foreclosure crisis? The oil crisis? The Katrina crisis? The 911 attack crisis? Bernanke had the responsibity to LOWER rates or at least not raise them when millions were losing their homes and when millions couldn't even fucking pay for gas to get to their fucking jobs
After that gas prices just went up & up. There is an absolute direct correlation in the gross increase in gas & the increase in foreclosures. If you traveled for a living and all of a sudden you travel expenses trippled x 4 - Every month- eventually your ability to make your mtg paymebt was going to stop
Has anyone bothered to check Exxons profit the last 3 years? I have no desire for people to send comments to me check tables for they do not know me & my education of economics. Here is the bottom line- After Katrina, Exxon, Shell, etc. raised gas prices dramatically (THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO W/ INDIA OR CHINA). Bush gave a statement when prices came to a point when they were a little out of control that he would not put a cap on prices as the free market would work
once the economy gets back on track, however long that takes, get ready for oil and gold to shoot right back up and go even higher than $4 a gallon thanks to helicopter ben's massive inflation...i think the growth in money supply was something like 7% more than last month, watch out for hyper and get out of the dollar!
and if the gas crisis was only about greed, why aren't these oil men still greedy???...they said hey lets take a break from being greedy, we've made enough money now let's take some losses, it's only fair...your logic is completely flawed...gas prices were massively inflated like most other commodities and now that the housing bubble is bursting and people's wealth are disappearing, these prices are having to come down b/c people don't have the money to afford it anymore
actually federal funds target rate was less than 0% when adjusted for inflation...no truly private businesses would give a loan at 0% of course, but the fed would...this creates easy money and leads to all the bubbles...GREENSPAN CAUSED THIS CRISIS, NOT BERNANKE, the seeds had been set before bernanke took office and there was nothing he could do, granted he is making the situation much worse but he didn't cause it
Not sure who is claiming the interest rate was 0%, I appraised 2-3 homes a day, 5 days a week between 2000-2006- the average rate was 5-6. No lender would give a loan at 0%, no car dealership would give a loan at 0%- Actually no one would give a loan at 0% and the rates were in fact never at 0%
Yoknap? No it is not audacity for me to put the word crisis in quotes. My livlihood that I worked my a- off to obtain was basically f-ed the second gas prices started to rise after Katrina as I traveled for a living. That was the gas "crisis" that in fact was not even a "crisis" (only about greed) as gas today is @ $2.50 as opposed to $4.50- there never was a "crisis" the media made it up
(I'll default to dolfann2909, as he counters your claims about interest rates perfectly). HOWEVER, the rising costs of gas prices is largely due to exploding demand in China and India. I suggest you consult a basic supply & demand chart to see how this works.
And ten years later - Bernie Sanders was right and Greenspan is disgraced.

He ignores the fact that the sufficient money never reaches the inner city.

don't you love it with Allen Greenspan who says "we have created" ...
we, who??? Bankers??? Jews?? Rothschilds? JP Morgans?? Rockefellers??? Wall Street??
Banks don't produce.. Banks take.. if you put in $1000 in a bank, the bank will steal it (~ $5 fees / month + %0.075 interest = robbery).. your $1000 that you earned by producing a product or providing a service, the bank will seize it and steal it.
So, banks have been robbing American for decades.
EgyptianPrinceCB 1 year ago 27
@EgyptianPrinceCB ? As long as you maintain a required minimum, the bank won't charge you fees. They will pay you interest in return for depositing your money in the bank. If you know you can not maintain the minimum, then don't put your money in a bank. Would you rather have everyone keep their money under their mattress. Banks get paid for the service of guarding your money. If you don't like them, then keep your money in a safe in your house. Otherwise, don't make false accusations.

Waszma 2 years ago 5

Don't you know how much we pay the media to keep this crap quiet? And here you are blowing the lid off it! Thank God for Bernie Sanders, one of our last hopes...

Like Europe that let greedy corporations relocate to North Africa and use slave labor and import their cheap goods without too much tariff,....

We need to AUDIT THE FED, which is actually a bill in committee at this very moment as HR 1207. Please call your Representative and ask them to support it. There are already 124 Co-Sponsors for it. But then we need to keep the pressure on because the Senate will try and pass a bill that takes the teeth out of an audit, much like the current GAO audit authority is extremely limited.

The job of Alan Greenspan was to balance uneployment with the interest rate & he did a damn good job- especially after September 11, 2001 (not one person reading this could have done a better job dealing w/ 911)
Susieshepherd 3 years ago
The average rate for a refi from 09/11/2001 to early 2003 was 5%- a very reasonable rate- anything over 6.75 os criminal in my opinion. After Bernanke took over people found themselves when the ARM expired at 8.5%-11% (not cool). The foreclosure crisis led to the "financial crisis" which could have been prevented in early 2007
Susieshepherd 3 years ago
To the person who brought up China & India and suggested I look @ a supply & demand chart- the price of gas in the last 3 weeks has gone from $4.55 to $2.23 - WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT HAVE TO DO W/ INDIA OR CHINA? Did China & India both have a calamity in the last 3 weeks where they no longer need oil?
Susieshepherd 3 years ago
If you absolutely need a scapegoat & find that Greenspan is the person you have a right to do that, just know I watched the entire hearing only to watch him be interrupted over & over. He is an extremely intelligent person who actually had a lot to say, yet disrespectful people had to point the finger & would not let him talk
Susieshepherd 3 years ago
The comments below "Greenspan caused this"..CAUSED WHAT?! The housing crisis? The foreclosure crisis? The oil crisis? The Katrina crisis? The 911 attack crisis? Bernanke had the responsibity to LOWER rates or at least not raise them when millions were losing their homes and when millions couldn't even fucking pay for gas to get to their fucking jobs
Susieshepherd 3 years ago
After that gas prices just went up & up. There is an absolute direct correlation in the gross increase in gas & the increase in foreclosures. If you traveled for a living and all of a sudden you travel expenses trippled x 4 - Every month- eventually your ability to make your mtg paymebt was going to stop
Susieshepherd 3 years ago
Has anyone bothered to check Exxons profit the last 3 years? I have no desire for people to send comments to me check tables for they do not know me & my education of economics. Here is the bottom line- After Katrina, Exxon, Shell, etc. raised gas prices dramatically (THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO W/ INDIA OR CHINA). Bush gave a statement when prices came to a point when they were a little out of control that he would not put a cap on prices as the free market would work

once the economy gets back on track, however long that takes, get ready for oil and gold to shoot right back up and go even higher than $4 a gallon thanks to helicopter ben's massive inflation...i think the growth in money supply was something like 7% more than last month, watch out for hyper and get out of the dollar!
dolfan2909 3 years ago
and if the gas crisis was only about greed, why aren't these oil men still greedy???...they said hey lets take a break from being greedy, we've made enough money now let's take some losses, it's only fair...your logic is completely flawed...gas prices were massively inflated like most other commodities and now that the housing bubble is bursting and people's wealth are disappearing, these prices are having to come down b/c people don't have the money to afford it anymore
dolfan2909 3 years ago
actually federal funds target rate was less than 0% when adjusted for inflation...no truly private businesses would give a loan at 0% of course, but the fed would...this creates easy money and leads to all the bubbles...GREENSPAN CAUSED THIS CRISIS, NOT BERNANKE, the seeds had been set before bernanke took office and there was nothing he could do, granted he is making the situation much worse but he didn't cause it
dolfan2909 3 years ago
Not sure who is claiming the interest rate was 0%, I appraised 2-3 homes a day, 5 days a week between 2000-2006- the average rate was 5-6. No lender would give a loan at 0%, no car dealership would give a loan at 0%- Actually no one would give a loan at 0% and the rates were in fact never at 0%
Susieshepherd 3 years ago
Yoknap? No it is not audacity for me to put the word crisis in quotes. My livlihood that I worked my a- off to obtain was basically f-ed the second gas prices started to rise after Katrina as I traveled for a living. That was the gas "crisis" that in fact was not even a "crisis" (only about greed) as gas today is @ $2.50 as opposed to $4.50- there never was a "crisis" the media made it up
Susieshepherd 3 years ago
(I'll default to dolfann2909, as he counters your claims about interest rates perfectly). HOWEVER, the rising costs of gas prices is largely due to exploding demand in China and India. I suggest you consult a basic supply & demand chart to see how this works.
