Vendetta is ok, but I've never played X3. I've played Evochron, and I can tell you that Frontier: Elite 2 is still the deepest space trader I've played. (Again: Haven't played X 3)

Best game I've ever played. Shame Braben is an insufferable git who won't release it open source and sues anyone who attempts it while stringing out his fanbase and selling his merchandise. Ian Bell wrote the difficult parts and Braben cut him out of Frontier. It's no wonder Elite IV has been promised for ten years, he doesn't know how to do it and Bell is probably too wary of cooperation with him to allow it. Chris Sawyer wrote frontier and Braben is a greedy nobody.

i first saw this game in my "Guinness World Records 2009 Gamers Edition" for "Most Star Systems" having 100 Billion unique systems, when is saw that, i just immediately thought, "WANT" loll, i like games with A LOT of systems if its in space. Next i was looking at the other awards on the same page, it also has records for "First Space Trading Game" "Longest Running Space Trading Game" "Most Format Releases for a Space Trading Game" "First Space Game to use Procedural Generation" the rest replyed

It's no substitute. The constructs on the planet's surface were too isolated and the music seems better suited for a game set in the Medieval period without any tech-style instruments.

The only things I dislike are the ship (far too simple and shiny in my opinion) and the engine trails on the Eagle Mk2'st look a bit static.

The closest thing to elite 2 for PC is X series but it's got arcadey fizics and other drawbacks, not as nearly as good as this old timer.

Hell yeah! Great remake! I love the original intro but this one is just awesome. Superb models of Eagle Long Range Fighters. Maybe explosions could have been a little bit more realistic... And one thing: in original version the planet on which the Imperial Cruiser landed was not Earth. But it doesn't matter at all ;).

Everything should match perfect for this, as Prefim (the animator) Matched it shot for shot. He used the original intro as a the reference then replaced each shot, with its CG counter part. Brilliant. One tiny gripe - I'm pretty sure hyperspace clouds are blue on the departure end, and red on the arrival end. The clouds in this video seem to be the other way around.
