Great job on your video you deserved the 100% The song speaks for itself. I agree with your assessment (the video makers) that people are making too much out of it.
This war is continuing across Iraq, Libya Syria, Iran and North Korea the " axis of evil" where G.W. wanted to change the regimes. Behind them comes Russia and China. This is a new militarist push in the aftermath of the cold war - the cold war isn't really over.
I think its s***ty that you rip on JFK since LB johnson was the man starting the engagement with the gulf of Tonkin, cant see why you would get a 100% by the way JFK only sent CIA with the US Ambassadors because they were entering a communist contry...with little pre talks.
@SimunSansa Why are we always so determined to blame the government? The government is the one entity with the power to correct some of these things. By always putting the blame on the government we breed contempt for the one institution that we need. Why not blame the actual prime mover, the companies and individuals who actually made money? In any event that was the point of Dylan's song, so lets be true to the song. (I knew it was only a matter of time before someone said this.)
@drstrangelove09 I'm not saying it's entirely their fault. They are pawns in this game, but they sure as hell don't have to be. But, cash is somewhat powerfull. Some people tried to rip their countries and people out of US paws and they ended up declared as terrorists and hated by the rest of the world, or dead. Americans have their way of maintaining their place on top of things. And trust me, these people you speak of, they couldn't do shit without the government, but bribes do their work ;)
@SimunSansa The song is not about all these other issues. The song is about people who make money off of war, pure and simple. Money and money made directly as the result of selling the machinery of war is what drives many of these wars. And it's probably not limited to the U.S. It's about time that we all recognized this because until we do we will not solve the problem. If we continue to simply blame governments then we will never solve the problem. It is misdirected.

Blessings to all. It is a good world - let's make it show its goodness, by bringing out our best. Change is possible, and is unfolding now.
A research team from Georgetown University accessed the CIA documents relative to Operation Northwoods using Freedom of Information Act. Operation Northwoods, a CIA plan presented to JFK in 1962, that called for disguising as Cubans and attacking our own Military Bases to garner full public support for a war against Cuba. JFK immediately fired his Jt Chief for having even proposed the plan. Two years later JFK asassinated, by CIA/SS Limo Driver, William Greer, shot him at point blank range.
Hey guys, its Hannah, and this is my video. (Im sorry I cant access the account because it is my sisters and I will have to wait untill she gets home so I can update the description to tell everyone that I KNOW KENNEDY WAS PERFECT AND WAS AGAINST WAR, BUT I WAS MAKING A TIME LINE. THIS WAS NOT JUST ABOUT THE "MASTERS OF WAR" yet it is. So sorry!!! I will update it around 9:00. but thanks for the views. I thought this video was taken off of youtube, so I havent checked on it, but ill make more!!
@noodleworks14 Kennedy started the war in Vietnam, invading the country and bombing the people starting in 1962. See Chomsky on JFK, Camelot Revisited, for further details. JFK was not a man of peace. It is sad to know, but it is true. If you want a president to admire, you might have to go back to Thomas Jefferson. Unfortunately, the rest have all been pretty terrible in one way or another, and even Jefferson was far from perfect, though I admire him greatly.
@noodleworks14 Ya, Kennedy was completely perfect. The only human in the world who was ever like that. He had absolutely nothing to do with the Vietnam war.
In all fairness, JFK didn't escalate the Vietnam War. Under JFK the US had advisers and a limited amount of infantry. JFK signed the order to remove all American soldiers from Vietnam, a week before he was killed...
LBJ's first official act as President of the United States was to void JFK's order... LBJ then escalated the war by sending more soldiers to Vietnam...
Occupy Wall Street, occupy your heart, occupy your democracy, occupy our land - take back your power. It is time. Time for democracy. Time to return the power to the people. Time to let the people speak. Time to end war. Time for revolution. Stand now. It is happening - real time. Now.
@ekennye Honestly, I am not greatly concerned if a true republic - meaning a constitutional democracy with limited powers of state and legally and culturally guaranteed rights and freedoms - leans left or even a bit to the right, so long as it is authentic power to the people, authentic democracy, and human rights and civil liberties are upheld for all. We can debate the finer points later. First of all, the people must reclaim their power and their democracy, or we are headed toward fascism.
@ShineOnCrazyDiamond1 In what way? I hope you agree with the call for constitutional democracy, as the vast majority would. Is it the warning about fascism that made you shiver? We are living in dangerous times, but also in a time with great opportunities for real positive change.
@prajnaseek turning the power over to the people is a joke, you taken a look around lately? First off the people never had "power" most are completely retarded and can give a shit about anything, give me a break "power back to the people" you mean the same people who shit in the street? You are sadly mistaken, this is a Republic NOT a Democracy, the word democracy is not even in the constitution, 51% ruling 49% is not all rainbows and sunshine. Get real.
I do have some issue with some of the lyrics in this song putting the builders at blame and really only in a few lines including the real masters of war the politician. While some blame does lie with contributors such as heads of weapon companies, these heads are not the builders they are not the scientist who make the planes and fuselage highly aerodynamics, not the engineer who makes the engine nor the scientist who makes the explosive the blame does not lie with them but with the mastersofwar
our teacher showed my class this video in core RMPS and we had to like write down lyrics that "spoke to us" so if you made this for a class project, you must be pretty awesome :) xx
Distance--------The first wars were up close, to kill you had to use a sword or a mace, or a pitchfork. At least you knew what you were doing, and who were the victims. This steady progression is awful -- the first Generals to observe a bomb thrown from a plane thought it was disgusting and the work of a coward. Now - finally - we have drones acting like a computer game and killers can sit at a desk and play a game. Dylan here- personalizes it --"I hope that you die" up close.
Joan B. said Dylan did not appear at many political anti-war protests. But she also said in this interview that the songs "flowed out of him" and that she wished that she had this ability. She called the song writing "making the ammo".
Indeed - using the war analogy, someone has to make the ammo and others are firing guns on the front line. The ammo maker is not necessarily going to be on the front line.
Just a little defense of the "a-political" Dylan, who is a Poet.
Dylan know as I know. We see the world the same way. I can see right through the brain. Dylan saw what almost all humans can't, he saw the world that we can't see with our eyes. He changed my life
Bob Dylan is a coward. This song IS masterfully written, but make no mistake, we did not start the Vietnam War. Oh yes, isn't it horrible that we went to help a people escape the vicious oppression of their communist northern half. I can't BELIEVE that we would try to help other people! Ridiculous! And if you disagree, go talk to all the Catholic Vietnamese who were brutally tortured for nothing more than being Catholic.

@MrMaltaknight REALLY?? Look up The Gulf of Tonkin Incident, that led us into the war! And years later they admitted that it didnt happen!! Take your Blinders off! Ignorance Is Strength, War Is Peace, Freedom Is Slavery
@MrMaltaknight you are mistaken,, we started it,, the gulf of tonken incident was the catalyst for the the US getting involved,, but it was a false flag operation later admitted by Robert McNamara just as Operation Northwoods was revealed,, but Kennedy refused it, to guess what fly planes into skyscrapers and commit other acts of terrorism in the US to gain support for an invasion of Cuba... now certainly there were south Vietnamese that were being killed,, but not all is as it appears
@MrMaltaknight If someone says he's trying to help people but in the process he kills a whole lot of them, you might say well, he meant well, it just didn't go as he planned. Sad mistake. But then next year he does it again to supposedly "help" some other people someplace else, and then AGAIN a few years later always the same story, same result and then you find that he lied about the reasons to begin with, would you ever stop trusting him?
When this song would come on my iPod in work I'd feel my legs shaking with anger at all the scum who control this fucked up world we live in.
good video, but the people in it are all just puppets. Sniveling lackeys of the system who are just as expendable as the rest of us. still scum bags though.
One in America to destroy the Privatists, the Corruptors, The Ultra-Capitalists and The Left and Right Extremists. To recreate a Government capable of responsibly leading a 21st century Superpower.
One in Europe to Destroy all of the above and at last found the Federation. Secure the international politics and their dominant position in the West Eurasian Power Sphere, and create a Government capable of responsibly leading another 21st century Superpower.
EXCELLENT!!!! I've been looking for a live version of this song, but never found it on YouTube.....Your pix convey the message perfectly.....I'm a 60's person.....nothing ever changes!!
@SuperTrancend JFK Didn't start a war. so I have no idea why he's in here. Jonson got us into Vietnam Not JFK, Bush Sr. and Jr. sent us into Iraq and our presidents in-between entered only limited skirmishes. Obama Inherited these wars in Iraq and Afghanistan just like he inherited the Debt they caused. The only thing he did to put us farther in debt is he put the wars on the books.
Don't know why but the picture of nixon pointing with his finger gives me the creeps.. like I'm watching a horrormovie, and I don't even really know what he did (something with vietnam..)
you are missing a point of the war back then pisass04u2. You could and were drafted into war at 18, could buy beer, marry, drive, and were an adult BUT you could not vote until you were 21: thus you were not even a human but cannon fodder to america. Even though American claims it has the best human rights and individual liberties. TELL me, are you free if your nation says, "Go Murder people in a different country or go to jail, and you can no even vote for a canidate that wants peace?
All men are members of one of two catagories. those who sustain a fundamental commitment to the truth and those who fail their fundamental commitment to the truth. Every other subclassification is made up of members of the two primary catagories. Good - Evil Honor Truth - Failed Liars
It is just that simple, the simple truth Thy Will - Our will
For you to recognize the simple truth, proves you have indeed received the gift of His Holy Spirit. The clarity which is gained is not recognizeable by those who have not asked & received the gift which Jesus made available to all men. I will post an affirmation which I am certain you will comprehend, because you have attained Wisdom. Divine Wisdom, is only possible when one has recieved the gift of His Holy Spirit. Thus, gaining the Sacred knowledge to attain that Wisdom.
Plato defined Wisdom, as "a condition of the soul" that has an affinity with that which it is familiar, becoming drunk when in it's presence. Plato capitalized *Wisdom to be subtely recognized. Consider the following in the context of Plato's brilliant definition "Would a wise man question the Wisdom of God?"
Responses range from a simple No, to insane oblivious epistiles of ignorance.
Divine Wisdom: Recv'd Holy Spirit = Confirmation of God ~ The Gift Jesus Christ Promised!~
The definitive question is one of the most loaded questions ever encountered. When asked in written form, it hints of the answer, since Wisdom capitalized denotes Divine Wisdom. Pity those unable to comprehend the difference between, wisdom and Wisdom. Many even foolishly attempt to diminish the magnitude of the difference, which serves to further prove they are not at all wise and lack true Wisdom. Blessed are those who have the clarity and gained the Wisdom of His Holy Spirit.
Most of us are drawn to question the Wisdom of God at some stage in our lives. During that stage in my own life, I became a fan of Bob Dylan. Like Socrates, he had an incredible ability to ask the question never claiming to have the answer, but always emerging the wiser of the two in a debate by at least admitting he did not know. When Dylan made his transition to Christianity, I was delayed fascinated by the honesty of his lyrics. Took courage to admit he had been deceived.
@socrates1818 lol...you are right, you are way above this song..hahahahhahaha pompous douches are all the rage...continue to be one...it helps society i promise...
preachy...or an honest assessment of the times? we'll let mr intelligence (you) decide...
how simplistic? the words or the guitar chords? either way, you are a self righteous douche who has an extremely high (unwarranted) opinion of yourself...and yes, i can tell that from this one comment
@socrates1818 actually, not just from the comment, but a combination of your comment, and your name..it's obvious you feel very highly about yourself, and your insecurities based on other things forced you to take refuge in "feeling" smart...i'd bet anything i had on that
Respond to this video... i love this song and Bob Dylan since the 13 years i have lived on this Earth but dont blame JFK on the war that insults me and the rest of the Irish people we are a very proud country and do not respect you blaming vietnam on a fellow Irish man John F. Kennedy I belive it was LBJ who blew it up!
@CoffeeBeatsTea I'm sorry you're so dainty with your tyrants, but you're very, very wrong. Not only does Masters of War criticize war advocates and starters, but dogmatic and oppressive authoritarianism, crimes against humanity, international and civil chaos and war crimes amongst others. That being said, is this a better list for you?
I love this song. I remember the first time I heard it. I finished downloading this album then just decided to play it and sleep to it. This song went on then I was fully awake again.
I am angered by commenters here who only try to make this song fit their personal political agenda. Naming individual leaders is missing the point. This song was written during a time when nuclear threats were heated to the point of "mutually assured destruction". All the previous wars in History were a path that led the world to that brink. The Masters of War addresses the fact that one truth: "In war, young men die, not rich old men" , was changing to: "In nuclear war, We ALL die."
@picasso4u2 That does not mean that the song can't relate to events today. That's the power of Dylan's songwriting. Almost EVERY song he has written (protest songs too) are relevant today, and will be for 100's of years.
@picasso4u2 ---I don't know why you are angered.Anybody that watch's it and knows history, understands that Kennedy was anti-war.It was his vice LB Johnson that was the war monger.JFK refused to enter Vietnam. So the video is fiction.I am anti war and love the song but it was obviously made by someone who didn't study history enough.Would it of made sense if he put Gandhi's face on it instead? No.As it doesn't make sense to put JFK in it.
Thanks for the positive feedback everybody!!! Again, I made this in seventh grade, so don't hate. :)

Now.

@prajnaseek We are a Republic-I do not want socialism democracy-Read History
ekennye 4 months ago
@ekennye Honestly, I am not greatly concerned if a true republic - meaning a constitutional democracy with limited powers of state and legally and culturally guaranteed rights and freedoms - leans left or even a bit to the right, so long as it is authentic power to the people, authentic democracy, and human rights and civil liberties are upheld for all. We can debate the finer points later. First of all, the people must reclaim their power and their democracy, or we are headed toward fascism.

@prajnaseek That speech gave me shivers....
ShineOnCrazyDiamond1 4 months ago

MsScruffy4 5 months ago
I agree with picasso4u2
anyone who has ever been in a war would never send others to start one, and the vets of those wars are cast aside most of whom end up homeless.
The ones actually making the calls on where to waste lives are the ones who don't have to risk theirs, or anyone they know.
They profit off it
Come to think of it, I don't hear a lot of veteran opinions on the currents wars, wonder why that is...
SchoolrejecT 5 months ago 2
Joan B. said Dylan did not appear at many political anti-war protests.

@MrMaltaknight you are mistaken,, we started it,, the gulf of tonken incident was the catalyst for the the US getting involved,, but it was a false flag operation later admitted by Robert McNamara just as Operation Northwoods was revealed,, but Kennedy refused it, to guess what fly planes into skyscrapers and commit other acts of terrorism in the US to gain support for an invasion of Cuba... now certainly there were south Vietnamese that were being killed,, but not all is as it appears
ikambor 5 months ago
@MrMaltaknight If someone says he's trying to help people but in the process he kills a whole lot of them, you might say well, he meant well, it just didn't go as he planned. Sad mistake. But then next year he does it again to supposedly "help" some other people someplace else, and then AGAIN a few years later always the same story, same result and then you find that he lied about the reasons to begin with, would you ever stop trusting him?

I am waiting for two Western Revolutions:
One in America to destroy the Privatists, the Corruptors, The Ultra-Capitalists and The Left and Right Extremists. To recreate a Government capable of responsibly leading a 21st century Superpower.
One in Europe to Destroy all of the above and at last found the Federation. Secure the international politics and their dominant position in the West Eurasian Power Sphere, and create a Government capable of responsibly leading another 21st century Superpower.

All men are members of one of two catagories. those who sustain a fundamental commitment to the truth and those who fail their fundamental commitment to the truth. Every other subclassification is made up of members of the two primary catagories. Good - Evil Honor Truth - Failed Liars
It is just that simple, the simple truth Thy Will - Our will
waketheoblivious 6 months ago
@waketheoblivious So true. Well said.
prajnaseek 4 months ago
@prajnaseek
Thus, gaining the Sacred knowledge to attain that Wisdom.
waketheoblivious 4 months ago
Plato defined Wisdom, as "a condition of the soul" that has an affinity with that which it is familiar, becoming drunk when in it's presence. Plato capitalized *Wisdom to be subtely recognized. Consider the following in the context of Plato's brilliant definition "Would a wise man question the Wisdom of God?"
Responses range from a simple No, to insane oblivious epistiles of ignorance.
Divine Wisdom: Recv'd Holy Spirit = Confirmation of God ~ The Gift Jesus Christ Promised!~
waketheoblivious 4 months ago
@prajnaseek
Blessed are those who have the clarity and gained the Wisdom of His Holy Spirit.
waketheoblivious 4 months ago
@prajnaseek

I am angered by commenters here who only try to make this song fit their personal political agenda. Naming individual leaders is missing the point. This song was written during a time when nuclear threats were heated to the point of "mutually assured destruction". All the previous wars in History were a path that led the world to that brink. The Masters of War addresses the fact that one truth: "In war, young men die, not rich old men" , was changing to: "In nuclear war, We ALL die."
picasso4u2 6 months ago 41
