  • i have a drawer safe but im going to buy this. i dont plan on comming home to a dead kid or getting shot by my own gun. good product for parents!

  • @zzohmzz You are exactly who I designed this for. Thanks for the kind words.

    Mike Worley

    Inventor of the Safety Bullet

  • Or, OR, here's an idea: How about loading the magazine into the weapon and NOT racking the slide to chamber a round?? You've just achieved the same result, and I just saved you $24.99 by not having to buy a "safety bullet."

    You're welcome.

  • @ironbar66 That would seem to be the logical way to go except for a couple of things. Would you want to know if someone was playing with your gun like you kid? Kids pull the trigger to see if the gun is loaded. The Safety Bullet would lock you gun and you would know. What it you had an intruder who simply racked your gun. If you had two Safety Bullets loaded he would rack the first one load the second one. When he pulled the trigger his gun is locked. No device is perfect.

  • I think i will stick with the gunvault! Then i dont have to worry about my kids touching my gun or the action getting locked up. I would much rather shoot at an intruder than have to ask him to wait a minute while i clear my weapon. comend you on your efforts it just seems to be one of those products that is a solution looking for a problem.

  • @dakaham1 Glad you use something! For long term storage gun vaults are great. This is for the gun you keep beside your bed for instant protection. We had a couple here in Panama City that had a gun vault when three intruders kicked in their door. They got the guy as he was trying to get a gun out of it to protect his family. They beat him and his wife then robbed them. He now has Safety Bullets in all his guns. He said let them try that now!

  • I think your missing the point. If you found your gun locked get on your knees and thank God no one was killed with your gun. Someone who did not have access to it pulled the trigger, your not in jail, no one you care about is dead. If your gun is involved in an accidental shooting you go to jail, you lose your rights to own a gun. But if that were to happen - grab the rad that came with the package ram it down the barrel and drive the locking pin back in place and shoot the guy in one second

  • I don't see where it's specified whether this product is reusable or not. If you fire a Safety Bullet, and use the ejector rod, can you then eject the Safety Bullet?

Whether it can or not, it needs to be made clear.

  • @Shorty111R Go to our web site and watch the demonstrations YES of course they can be ejected and reloaded.

  • My dad is an innovator/inventor as well. He relies heavily on unconventional thinking and techniques to develop his products.

Many other inventors of great things were shunned for doing something different, despite their results being great.

That said, having first hand experience with out-of-the-box thinking, instead of disregarding something just because it goes against conventional wisdom, I will try this product.

It deserves no less a fair shot than any other safety device.

  • Picked up a brochure at the shooting range today. Very neat idea.

  • What if an intruder is in your house and you forget the first round in your mag is a safety bullet? You pull the trigger and your firearm locks up. then you have a paper weight..and you're a sitting duck. Assuming that is the only firearm present in your home .it's great if you remember it's there, however in general people don't think clearly when they first wake up.. just a thought..

  • @virus139 As with any safety device PRACTICE with it. If anyone does pull the trigger on the Safety Bullet. Grab the rod, stick it in the barrel then come down on a table top with 15 lbs of pressure to drive the locking ram back inside the Safety Bullet. It is that simple. Compared to any lock made I can fire my gun with a Safety Bullet in it lock it up, unlock it with the rod and fire14 rounds in less than 3.5 seconds. Nothing is faster period!

  • If a kid is playing with your gun and there is nothing in the chamber how do you know? If they play with your gun with the Safety Bullet loaded your gun gets locked up when they pull the trigger and you will know. Then you can do something about it.

  • How is this better than just leaving the chamber empty?

  • MrPontific, I disagree that the Safety Bullet is less safe that other devices. Go to the Consumer Product Safety Commission and do a search for Safety Devices. Now compare what you read to the Safety Bullet. This blows all other locks away. Then do as I have and buy all the other locks and do a side by side comparison. See how long it takes to go from locked to shoot with all of them. You will find the Safety Bullet is simply the fastest easiest firearm safety device made.

  • As with anything else, this is a compromise. When compared to other safeties, it provides less security but better access. If you're going to use it though, I'd recommend training yourself to rack the slide before shooting. Unlike bvanes suggests, it's not typical to 'remember' that sort of thing when it matters-you'll revert to your training.

Also, I think it was a bit over the top to suggest that people who don't use gun locks or other safeties end up in jail.

  • THIS IS A FANTASTIC IDEA

  • Mike Worley the inventor here. I know of no product that everyone loves. There are a few people that would not use a lock no matter what. You can visit them in jail because their guns were in an accidental shooting. Because of their accidental shooting they have lost all the rights they had to own a gun. If anyone wants to meet me and do a shoot off their lock against the Safety Bullet please call me. Bring some $ with you and we will see who gets to fire their gun first.

  • @ safetybullet I came across this on a CCW site and didn't buy the "hype" until I saw the video that explaned it more. It looks pretty cool and when the time comes where I have to think about my kids' safety (no kids yet) I will definately consider this, although a good point was brought up. If a kid fires the thing and then puts it back (he's not going to say he played with dads gun) it could present a problem if a defense situation came up.

  • @Christopher71488 I have several NRA Instructors for buddies and we beat this idea up all the time. You are right of course if you found your gun locked up and knew that your kid was the only one that had access to it. The first thing I would do is thank GOD I had this in my gun, that my kid was still alive and I did not go to jail. The second thing I would do is grab the ejector rod and ram it down the barrel. It takes a whole long second to do that. Then shoot the intruder.

  • @Christopher71488 I had a couple of buddies poo pooing the Safety Bullet I said OK you red necks we are going to the range bring ANY safety device and we will do a side by side comparison first guy that puts a round on target gets a case of beer.

Six buddies six different devices. When I said go, I fired my gun locked it up with the Safety Bullet unlocked it with the ejector rod and put 10 rounds from my Sig 229 Elite on target before anyone of the got a round off. Yes this is that fast.

  • But what if your kid pulls back the thing before they fire the weapon? Or what if you're panicked faced with a dangerous person and you forget to pull it back?

  • @Noromongrel If anyone pulls the trigger on the Safety Bullet it will lock the gun up. If you do it in a time of immediate need I designed the Safety Bullet to be unlocked in a crises in a hurry. Here is how that is done. It comes with a plastic rod to drive the locking mechanism back inside the Safety Bullet. Grab the rod in your left hand - and insert it into the barrel of the gun which is in your hand. WIth both hands come down hard on a flat surface and in an instant the gun is unlocked.

  • @safetybullet You skipped over his question. "But what if your kid pulls back the thing before they fire the weapon?". The answer is the gun goes bang. The bottom line is there is no substitute for the most best method: Teaching your kids gun safety.

  • @Noromongrel That is why we recommend you place two in the gun. Watch the video again you will see that we loaded two in the firearm. Great question one I gave a lot of consideration. If you pull the trigger on the Safety Bullet and they gun locks grab the rod insert in the barrel and with both hands come down hard on a table top. I can fire my gun with a safety bullet in it, lock it up, unlock it and put 14 rounds on target in less than 5 seconds. Now compare this to a trigger lock. no contest

  • As a Law Enforcement Officer, I think that this is an incredible invention. It truely is great. Quick and easy, If your too stupid to remember to rack your weapon, YOU SHOULDNT OWN ONE!!

  • To 2ndafe. This blows a lock box out of the water all day every day. Do your homework I have done mine. The Safety Bullet is the easiest fastest firearm Safety Device on the planet period!

  • to 2NDAFE So a lock box is better? So instead of just cycling the action to load a live round you would 1. turn on the light to go find a key to undo the lock on your lock box and then pull your gun and that is easier than this? Plus when you turned on the light you told the intruder where you were. Or better yet if you are talking about a lock box with a combination lock. Same situation your telling me that it would be easier to turn on a light, remember to dial the right combination
