garlick jr is a very important villian, he was the first in DBZ ( i like to think he comes before raditz) and he is also immortal!

good question...I know garlic jr.s father is a big guy,you briefly see his shadow's in season 4 of dbz,,but maybe they can still be cousins? or long lost brothers? who knows. but if that wer the case,,pilaf should have been wearing the family emblem-crest on his shirt.

It's possible, but I think it was mostly that Garlic was originally a movie-only character, and not created by Toriyama, so they tended to use existing designs a lot for inspiration.
