It was based on what was supposed to be the next gen viper but this chassis is just so much more.. the viper wouldn't have a aluminium space frame, adjustable dampers, a rear mounted dual clutch, or the gullwing doors. The viper is supposed to be a barebones supercar, hell it doesn't even have stability control yet*

Impressively little understeer for a roadcar (even a sportscar)...and this is more a highly comfortable muscle cruiser than a supercar!

BTW: that engine sound, wow!!! That 6.2 L V8 is going to be retired soon for a 5.5 L Turbo (which is already in the CLS63 and S63)!

This engine could be last big normally aspirated muscle engine from Mercedes! The next many years downsizing with use of turbo's will dominate, and after that fuelcells, hybrids etc. may have evolved massively?! Just a thought!

@pauloararaquara I for one care about the ethos of the car. I think that the new 302 Boss mustange is pretty cool yet it's still a mustang. In my opinion, that's not good enough. I like the fact that the SLS is a totally different car, not just another sedan or coupe in Mercedes lineup of already made cars with a slightly different setup and/or engine.

For me it's the Ethos, the looks, the exclusiveness. I see mustangs daily. I see maybe 4 MB day. I have yet to see an SLS AMG in real life.

@oilers1go1 this car sucks, no styling what so ever. MB does retro as well as Toyota does (FJ Cruiser). This car is an extremely poor copy of the original....a small dick is a requirement if you buy or like this car. A car in this category MUST have styling and performance. An evolution of the orignal, NOT a RETRO...RETRO era is over...if it was so great you would see more of these on the roads than Gallardo's.
