  • this is good stuff yall. very knowledgeable lady.

  • hearing this lady talk about black moon is very refreshing

  • ummm, who is this???

  • basically she saying to go independent

  • cant wait to gettin around to buying her book

  • bitch its not that easy

  • @mikesinatra9 lol damn hommie you sound a lil mad

  • you dont have to get screwed.. its 2 easy now to make music, u dont even have to have CD's.. a hot youtube page and some download links with a home studio.. at the most u pay for an engineer and someone 2 master ur stuff.. u shouldnt have any real overhead until u get a buzz and start traveling a little, u shouldnt ever have to really owe anyone until ur making money

  • Who is this fat bitch?

  • Its 2012! The game has changed, like everybody is saying INDEPENDENT is the way to go now!

  • real

  • Best way to go is independent.

  • Buckshot is Right... EVERYBODY GETS JERKED!!! EVERYBODY!!! No such thing. you might be pushing your Lil units independantly but trust you will spend a lot off money to make product and break even, The best thing about building a Buzz is the shows. You might perform for lil venues here and there for a coupla g's but hey.. Its better than standing on the block doing nothing.

  • People there are others that have a lot of money and don't know what to do with it. Take advantage!!! If you an artist don't be ashamed to go to McDonalds and see if they are willing to use your music for commercials fir example. Also make sure you know legal terms of contracts or get a decent lawyer.

  • I've been telling dudes to do their own thing for a long time. I have always done my own thing. I when I was making my own mixtapes I did the cover art to copying and distribution myself. I shoped my music hip hop clothing stores and at colleges. I was honored to have Peanut Butter Wolf listen to my stuff and he gave advice and encouragement then. He told me the same thing that he did everything from his small ass apartment with Madlib doing their own thing. People there are others that have a

  • wigger

  • Good Lady!

  • Agree with WendyDay & @Ht1

Comics BlackMoon had such a major following! There wasn't a day I didn't hear a car on Georgia Ave.near Howard U -The Wiz record store done it also!! Blasting their music. Remember it like it was yesterday!

  • i love wendy thanks for that

  • Its a lot simpler than what this woman is saying these rappers do not READ anything which is likely why they were rappers in the first place for the most part, so if they do not read books how good will they be are reading a CONTRACT and ensuring they do not get ripped off? Ya READ and if ya do not understand the contract you GET A LAWYER and PAY them to break the contract down for you but most of them try and get around doing this thus they get jerked.

  • @xRGaming tech should tell them to fuck off (thats a tip) hahaha

  • Look at Tech N9ne. Everybody doubted him and nobody wanted to sign anybody so different and unique, so he started his own label. Now his label is nearly a major itself and Def Jam and Sony are offering him deals and asking him for marketing tips because of how well he's doing. Indepent dollas homie

  • @xRGaming independent*

  • @818Kasino-Just create an LLC or INC in your state and you just created your own label

  • I needed to know that.Thanx Wendy.Wish I knew what steps to take to become an independent producer.I got mad skillz and I dont know the first thing about starting an indie label.Any ideas???

  • Iv always thought it was better to be independent cause in the end if you do make it and make allot of money you can just start your own label and sign your own artist and make more money its almost common sense so i dont get why people act like its some break through , Use your fuckin head stop going with what people tell you lol. like wow.

  • It's a shame Black Moon got jerked like that..."Enta Da Stage" is a certified classic album...Wendy Day has always been a strong voice in indie Hip Hop...

  • @toneriggz black moon was way underated..one of the best albums of that time..yet these horrible rappers(waka) gettin shine?these dudes are killing hiphop

  • Wendy your knowledge is undeniable

  • Independent labels dick you too cause most of them have no idea what they're doing...

  • @EllisTheDouble And the industry can shut you out if they don't like you period . They have power.

  • @JBhab30 Yeah, but the internet is taking that power out of their hands now.

  • @cityking9ne Im just saying were talking about a bunch of CEO's and rich people that know each other they can shut you out if they want , Yeah you may slip through the cracks but still they will treat you like Kanye or Pac and try to assassinate your character shits hard . And if you want a agent they most likely know mall the people also ...Thats why you see good rappers and you sit there like WHY THE FUCK IS LIL B MADE IT and someone like Joell Ortiz and Joe Budden arent out there until Shady

  • @JBhab30 True.

  • @cityking9ne You can do it it's just allot harder but i guess you keep your soul in the end going independent lol

  • @selfinflcted09 I stand corrected sir!

  • FUCK RECORD LABELS!

  • @TheL2thak No its FUCK THE CUNTHOLES RUNNING THE LABELS!!

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP NICKI MINAJ. YOU CUNT BITCH KILLING RAP

  • THIS LADY IS SAYING WHAT I'VE BEEN PLANNING ON DOING FOR A WHILE AND THAT'S STICKING WITH AN INDEPENDENT LABEL AND GAIN SUCCESS THAT WAY

  • its good to have a independent deal

  • Blackmoon

  • LIL B IS DOING EXACTLY WHAT SHE IS EXPLAINING.

  • @maxytheripper Lil B

  • @maxytheripper Jay-Z did it along time ago so fuck Lil B , He was a name nothing els like hes not even legit yet he doesn't make good music and the only reason he is a little popular is because hes so bad people think its funny so they say hey you heard this lil b guy check him out hes terrible lol hes a joke and it is what it is no hate here.

  • @maxytheripper maaaaaaaan'Fuck Lil B!

  • @maxytheripper yes bro thts y nikkas need to stay independent

  • @maxytheripper word i can't stand him but dude doing his thing

  • @maxytheripper lol lil b sux tho

  • smart lady. She knows her stuff.

  • @kuunami you are right, she does. She has been in the industry for years. Moneyandhiphop(.)com approved!

  • @kuunami That's her job

  • @YoRaGGa

I aware that it's her job.

  • Lowkey is fully indpendant and successful

  • There are quite a few artist that have been independent for years and make bank. They may not be as well known and on MTV or BET top 10, but they have their fan base and they sell out shows. And with the internet and social networking sites its much easier to put your work and yourself out there for the world to see. I remember Ice Cube said in an interview that he would tell a new artist that you don't need a record deal, "you" are the record deal.

  • @banx757 i like that sayin u put in your comment frm ice cube i like that

  • REAL TALK

Vlad these are the type of interviews you should post, rather than attention thirsty dudes screaming in the train.

  • I like this white lady

  • 1 word...Mac miller...unsigned 1 million followers on twitter.. does his own thing...why chase a deal

  • @cokemanpac Shit don't equal record sales.. what i would equal is sold out little venues where you can keep your own funds and get paid for appearances..

  • @cokemanpac he's signed to rostrum records bro

  • respect me you slut

  • respect that !
