Man that's stupid. Why would you want to shoot people who are trying to cross the border? They are just trying to get a better life for themselves and their family.
I agree with yall we need to line our borders up first with troops with guns to shoot all of them that try to cross our border or just get us people from the south to let all hell break loose on their asses
As a former Soldier…this song is right on the money. Many of my battle buddies that came back still had to fight the war in their heads, and fight the war at home to be normal again. That’s just the cost of living, I guess. Thanks Ronnie Donn for a good song.
I love this song it really is about the American people and what we are all going through. I say amen and God bless America. I pray for everyone who is homeless or jobless God please bless them more now than ever.
Reminds me of my Grandfathers and Uncles who lived through the depression, WW2, Korea and Vietnam and never complained about America and the work they did when they could find some. They told us kids stories we couldn't believe really happened.... I am now 48 and lived nearly the same life they did. And just like them when I came home no jobs for us... Our country is the richest yet we are so poor... how could this happen ??
@evilborg After WWII the president kicked the illegals out of the country to free up jobs for veterans, today politicians see them as future voters and know there are enough dead beats to keep them in office, as the welfare recipients are happy with the way things are!
@Maples01 Yes I know that but no one has the balls to do that now.... the ACLU would sue the US into bankruptcy in just a few months and the world would label the USA as racist with a under tone of nazism. God forbid we look out for our own.
@evilborg The ACLU AND NAACP have ruined our country, muslims are getting through airports with little to no security screening for fear of racial profiling charges, Christian's are silenced during religious holidays while muslims are given extra rights, like public prayer time during rush hour blocking streets and sidewalks. Our nation is being transformed to make foreigners at home, walking all over the citizens and the laws left to us by the founding fathers
@Maples01 Which is why I am armed to the teeth and when civil carnage breaks out because the GOV failed the citizens the illegals had better take cover or leave.
Wow!! He sounds great live and it sounds just like the recording. Most singers can't do this bc they rely so much on production to get their sound. Just fantastic!!!!!
Wow, this song blew me away. It tells the story of people in my Dad's generation. This is what America used to be. And for those 11 that said they didn't like it, why don't you move to some other Country you piece of shit. Marty Garrison Bryant, Arkansas
You know it really is amazing the difference in the level and quality of conversation for this type of video, or with any ctry music vid i guess vs the rap or r&b vids..Here folks pray for each other, over there it's insults, threats & FU's. God Bless country music.
The nation NEEDS to hear this, ESPECIALLY on behalf of the failed age of obama! Sung with such heart, class, portraying such an optimistic, rezilent view in the depths of an economic downfall, can't get this any where else but country music, Bravo Mr. Dunn, hope has been granted to the nation on behalf of your work
anyone who dislikes is sadly mistakin, It is sad that they actually had to write such a song but face it this is what the world has became every family is struggling one way or another.brilliantly writting and sang!
The toll on good people all over this country is soulfully depicted in this great song. Next time you consider voting for incompetent fashionable illegal aliens refer back to this song. The Barney Franks and Barry Soetoros who pushed for stupid no win loans wrote this tune. The mindless hacks like Bernake who have borrowed and spent us into bankruptcy might as well be singing it.
I can relate as many others. My dad god bless his soul was in the army and a good man. I had a family also that worked in the mines. Things where so much simplier but even a struggle then. There where days that my mom did know how she would feed us.. Until you struge lik this you have no idea what a hard life is and I hope you never have to. Be thankful for wat you have and never take the fine things for granted because your the luck one.
God people stop being so negative. Don't you understand that there are people just like you struggling to pay the bills, keep clothes on their kids and food in their bellys. Unless you have lived the hard life you will never know what it's like to live pay check to pay check. Never knowing if you will have enough gas to get to work or food in your house. Praying that they give you more hours so you can pay the electric before they shut it off.
I’m a small business owner and all of the people who walk through my doors in search of work sound like the man in this song. Ronnie is talking about real Americans, without regard to color, gender, ethnicity, or politics. I’d love to our politicians in a pair of steel toes and give them a pick-ax for a week… maybe then they would see and listen to “the American people” they claim to know. I wish everyone that is struggling better days tomorrow. Great Song!

It Takes A Lot To Get Up Every Morning And Do What He Does I Think We All Should Listen To Ronnie And What His Song Says Because This Song Is SO Amazing!!! AMEN TO THAT!! Thumbs If U Do What His Song Says And Give Your Self A Pat On The Back
(1/2)its not even about that. I sang this song at an open mic, and i explained that its not that I am going through it myself, its recognizing that I am no different from the people who are struggling to get by. What makes me more deserving than them? Nothing whatsoever. Now is the time to help your neighbor instead of relying and waiting on the government to do something. His heart is in his tone and his and my soul alike bares the shame of knowing that his fellow american...
@barretadams I know exactly how you feel. I know there are people out there who are in serious monetary trouble. And it's not that I'm not, but not like that... I don't have kids, I'm not trying to pay a mortgage or anything like that... But I really connect to the people who are in that situation, and this song makes it even more obvious that it's become the American Way to be poor...
@edgewise100 American way is to be poor? We need perspective! Oh no! We're so desperately poor! We might have to trade in our 8mpg f350 for a compact car. Can't buy little Suzy her 600 dollar purse.
OUR PROBLEM IS NOT BEING POOR IT'S BEING SO WASTEFUL.
Can't expect people who waste their opportunity to have a fantastic education to get jobs that pay good money that someone who can't read or write is willing able to do for a tenth of the price with a smile on their face.
@outlaw2298 The ones with the thumb out waitn' for the free ride and the ones with the hand out with no pride. Not anyone who ever 'earned' a dollar - that's for sure.
it's not easy listening to a song like this, when it sounds like it was written about me. i just hope people begin to understand what is happening to america, her veterans and the union men and women that built her.
I think Hank Williams Sr. and other "old school country" singers would roll over in thier grave at today's "country" music and what it has become. But I bet your ass they'd shake Ronnie Dunn's Hand!
Smooth voice; sweet melody. But, really, it's difficult for millionaire to sing of the hardships of the downtrodden working man without stretching credibility. Less syrup and more salt please: if Ronnie really felt the sting of his story a bitterness should darken the mood of his performance. No one who's children have been deprived of shoes and food would or should be that passive.
@Fetucinee I garuntee Ronnie didnt start out a millinaire, youve gotta start somewhere and i bet he started at the bottom so he knows how it feels. hes could be singing about his past.
@barretadams (2/2) ...cant keep the wolves at bay while he/ I has a roof over my head at night, food in my fridge and shoes on my feet that carry me to my job. I think ronnie knows that, which is why he cut the song (he didnt write it mind you). Having said that, this song shows the power of the working man conveyed by ronnie dunn. I thought it was wonderful.
I nominate this song #1 single song of the year, i call in and request it everyday!! between this and his song I BELIEVE i would say Ronnie you just entered another level of greatness,, God Bless you
I was raised to be a hard-working girl I have a strong back steel toe and I work harder on that job site than any man this song hits home because it is what my dad taught me and I will forever live by his words
This song hits home for many hard working Americans, the one's that actually are trying to support their families. It's a shame that this is the way people have to live now.
this is one of the best songs that can relate to most of us country folks and tells the story of our lives this song sounds like my dad now and what i will come to be soon enough
I can relate to this ... being unemployed has had some advantages for me, however. I am enrolled in school, but I miss my "work" routine. The time has allowed me to see where I was and that I needed a change. All things happen for a reason ~ no accidents or coincidences. Being a single mom to a teenage girl is difficult; being an unemployed one is brutal ~ monetarily and emotionally! Losing control has been a challenge, but peace of mind has been a benefit.
Awesome song brother! I'm a derrickman offshore, a Drill Sgt in the Army Reserves, and a full time student in college, on my days off. This song reaches in and lets people know how really hard it is out there.
@77somerville my wife let me hear this song, its how i feel I spent 6 years in the army, many deployments, i got out and we are trying to make it, wife is getting laid off in Oct, price of a weeks of food for a family of 3 with a 4th on the way is getting higher. Its hard and only getting harder.
Wow this song has such meaning. Almost every country song has a strong meaning relating to real life. That's why I love it so much. Unlike that garbage rap where all they talk about are their weed, hoes, and Mac 10's.
This song reminds me of my daddy too. He's a single father to a me (a fifteen year old) and he always trys to get me and my little brother everything we need. Iknow some might think I,m only saying this cause he's my dad but he's the nicest person I know. He has droped stuff for me and my brother and not blinked an eye. One day last year my friends brither was suposed to pick her up from school and he didn't my dad drove back to the school just to pick her up.
Love this song cause it hits home . My parents may have gave me alot of stuff easy when I was young but the best gift they gave me was to work honestly and hard for what I wanted
The story of my life. I'm proud to be a working man who will never ask for a government check to support my family. Too bad our government has ruined the greatest nation on earth by allowing and promoting millions to rely on welfare. If we ran our homes like our government runs America we would be homeless and starving. Damn our corrupt government for what they have done to America. All in the name of taking from the working man and giving to the lazy.
As someone else said in a previous comment...you can see and sense the feeling of hurt and pride when he sings this song. Other comments have mocked him as if someone well off can't see or feel or understand the plight of others less fortunate. I applaud Ronnie Dunn ability to do just that...to be able to put ones self in the shoes of another who might be far less fortunate. What a great song....what a great performer!!!
.. I WISH I COULD ASK HIM WHO OR WHAT INSPIRED HIM TO RIGHT THIS SONG, YOU CAN FEEL HIS CONCERN IN HIS VOICE! GREAT SINGER.. GREAT SONG.. GOOD STUFF RONNIE.. AMEN AND AMEN! ... PARRISH NICHOLS
well i think he will understand when i download this song off the internet instead of buying the album because the cost of living is going up!...... LOL jk i'll be buying it as soon as it comes to my local record store! unreal song! this is the definition of what country music is supposed to be!! keep it coming Ronnie!
Ronnie Dunn is my favorite singer of all time. I personally think Kix Brooks hitched himself to the Ronnie Dunn train for 20 years. Think about it, Kix did practically none of the vocals during the Brooks and Dunn years, and Ronnie's voice is what made Brooks and Dunn.
A true country video........#countrymusic

I was raised to be a hard-working girl I have a strong back steel toe and I work harder on that job site than any man this song hits home because it is what my dad taught me and I will forever live by his words
MissyTheMisfit665 6 months ago
This song hits home for many hard working Americans, the one's that actually are trying to support their families. It's a shame that this is the way people have to live now.

I was raised to be a hard working man and i'll die a hard working man. This is one of my favorite songs. Hits the heart every time.

this is one of the best songs that can relate to most of us country folks and tells the story of our lives this song sounds like my dad now and what i will come to be soon enough
rebelpride238 6 months ago

Amazing song. It speaks for and to us.

I noticed they said that this song had dropped one, but if there is truth in songs they might not want the cost of living to climb.
I did notice that gas dropped 10 cents a gallon, this week, but the song went up one on the charts that kix brooks sent.
