I thought your build-up was beautiful. Ignore all those insulting comments - anyway, every technician thinks that their method is the best and that every other method is crap. That is probably the most annoying thing about dental technicians.
Great video, i'm currently writing an assignment for my day release college about the posterior crown porcelain build up I am doing but we are using the Reflex system I believe it's called. You're technique is really good, I hope to be as quick and accurate as this one day.
nice video .... more please , you are a great teacher , i am new in this domain of dental technician , and i must say , your video helped the most so far in my first 3 years of work in this beautiful and artistic job we have :)
Yes the patient had an opposing tooth but occlusion was not the target of this video, this is a whole different subject. I try and achieve point contacts on marginal ridges and cusp tips with no tripodisation.

Hey LabRat, you have started with a good name for this job. Getting into a lab is the first step and then off to Uni for a foundation degree. This combination is difficult which is why there are so few new techs coming into the trade. It can be very rewarding and worth the effort though.
Visit the Dental Laboratories Association web site for training routes.
I need to practice this technique, I have only been building porcelain for about 6 months and I still have a difficult time with my porcelain tearing, especially in the occlusal anatomy.
The important parts to my technique that will help you avoid tearing are using good quality liquids, not allowing the fossa to close and firing cycles. Practice and more practice is the key........ Good luck and enjoy.

you have some skill, STOP DOING CUTBACKS! build your dentin to slightly under contour than incisals for shrinkage..

Excelent demonstration, time taken when building up makes a more natural reconstruction.

I am a model maker from Cumbria. Experienced in modelling using many materials, mouldmaking and casting resins, jewellery.
I want to get into the business, but of course employers are not too keen.
Any advice?

@julianrdt
Are labs worried about future competition or just don't have time to waste on a trainee.
If a new person came to you what would make you say YES I would like to train you in my lab?
If I carved and cast a bridge in 18ct gold with my name around the side, would that cut any mustard?
