Selling used games for more than what GS paid you is simple economics. They need to make a profit. when you reserve games they ask for your number so they can tell you when game comes in. They can't call if they don't have your number...so don't reserve

usually what happens is when u re sell back to them, you get 1/3 to 1/4 of the original. the one thing i like tho is they have games of they week where they give u the original used price (im not sure if it happens anywhere else except for mine). if u dont wanna give back ur games, sell em on ebay or craigsluist, thats what i do

Secondly, if memory serves me right, Legend of zelda: Twilight princess had a trade in value of around $25 at time of release, so to all you people bitching about the system calling to offer you an extra $10 on your trade in, shut up. I know how the trade-in program because I work there. We do trade-ins on games like car dealers do trade-ins on cars...
GameStop doesn't do that anymore. The only reason why you don't get a reserved game is because you waited 3 days, reserves can only stay on hold for 48 hrs, we do this so we can then sell whatever doesn't get picked up so we can get replenished.

We tell you to reserve the game because most of the time our store only recieves the amount of games that people pre-order. So if only 50 people pre order we only get 50, or sometimes 60. Therefore, when people don't pre order there is a good chance you don't get it until we get another shipment. People get mad when they find this out but we try to tell people about this all the time. Its not our fault that the company is run that way, so please try not to shoot the messenger.

The last game I bought new was Contra 4 at a Gamestop, payed the full price of 29.99. I noticed the game didn't have the shrink wrap, so it was obviously opened. I went back and told the manager that it wasn't new. He tried to argue that it is new, that it was opened to put out on display and it was never played. I just got my refund and went to Best Buy for a guaranteed NEW copy. Gamestop is such a hypocrite, selling opened games as new and taking opened games as used.
um all of the games even new dont have shrink wrap at gamestop unless its a popular game that just came out within a week otherwise they use the display cases as new cases but they take new discs out

First You need an ID to get cash that's state rules it is more likely for someone who stole something to get cash that is why they require ID. Second Gamestop does not call their customers all the time, they were only informing you that you could trade your game in to get extra money. You preordered Zelda and had to leave your information (phone number, address) to do so. That is why you were called to be notified about a special deal. I used to work at Gamestop, and this is the least to worry about when it comes to their bullshit. You're making a big deal out of nothing. They do much worse than this.

I just got a call, cause I pre ordered WotLK, and it comes out tommorrow at midnight, and they asked if I wanted to trade in some of my old Videogames to add to the puchase of it.
Its not that much of a drag, Idk why you guys are all pissy over it, grow some balls, and deal with it, its not a big deal, you probibly jizzed your pants when you relized somebody was calling you.

I never heard it say "You won't find this game anywhere else unless you pre-order it from us." First off, it is promoting their trade in program. Secondly, if memory serves me right, Legend of zelda: Twilight princess had a trade in value of around $25 at time of release, so to all you people bitching about the system calling to offer you an extra $10 on your trade in, shut up. I know how the trade-in program because I work there. We do trade-ins on games like car dealers do trade-ins on cars...

GameStop doesn't do that anymore. The only reason why you don't get a reserved game is because you waited 3 days, reserves can only stay on hold for 48 hrs, we do this so we can then sell whatever doesn't get picked up so we can get replenished.

We tell you to reserve the game because most of the time our store only recieves the amount of games that people pre-order. So if only 50 people pre order we only get 50, or sometimes 60. Therefore, when people don't pre order there is a good chance you don't get it until we get another shipment. People get mad when they find this out but we try to tell people about this all the time. Its not our fault that the company is run that way, so please try not to shoot the messenger.

The last game I bought new was Contra 4 at a Gamestop, payed the full price of 29.99. I noticed the game didn't have the shrink wrap, so it was obviously opened. I went back and told the manager that it wasn't new. He tried to argue that it is new, that it was opened to put out on display and it was never played. I just got my refund and went to Best Buy for a guaranteed NEW copy. Gamestop is such a hypocrite, selling opened games as new and taking opened games as used.

The problem is, if we don't get our 'numbers' in, we get canned. I have a bad feeling I'm going to be replaced by some high school kid after the holiday rush because I don't like bugging people about pre-orders and the magazine. My Manager has yelled at me repeatedly for this.
I'll ask if they're interested, print out a list of what's coming out for the system they own, and leave it at that.
unfortunately, corporate doesn't give a rats ass about our 'customer service' abilities...only numbers.

First You need an ID to get cash that's state rules it is more likely for someone who stole something to get cash that is why they require ID. Second Gamestop does not call their customers all the time, they were only informing you that you could trade your game in to get extra money. I'm sure you hate Gamestop because they will not give you alot of money for your old games. No other company lets you trade in your old games, There are other companies like but they all work the same.
