First of all, my heart goes out to this trainer's family. I know she certainly has passed away doing what she loved. She knew the dangers and she loved what she did.
These whales are called 'Killer Whales' because they are known to kill other whales. Not attack humans. This incident is very isolated. How can attractions like Sea World go for years doing 2 and 3 shows daily and not have an incident? Animals are animals first.

Guys let's just make this clear... These whales are with their family, only less then 5 whales were captures and are still alive, Tilikum is one. But to put them back into the wild? That would be cruel, they wouldn't know a thing. We capture wild horses, birds, and other creatures, do we not? We make horses PULL and RUN, we make these guys do playful behaviors that resemble their wild instincts. Dogs, put in Mills, abused, these whales are not abused. Look at it from different perspectives..

Tilikum is this whales name. First off, he is one of the few orcas left that is a captured orca. He is male, very territorial and dominant. I've saw the video of her being killed, he seemed to be acting like he was wanting to mate, because he was showing dominance towards Dawn.
Yes, he has killed two other people. But the first, a hobo snuck into his tank after hours, found dead on Tili's back. Did he try to save him? Nobody will know. I'm not sure of the second story. But this was an accident.

@rictheawesome Tilikum is in Florida but Seaworld has 3 parks I believe, Orlando (Florida), San Diego (California), San Antonio (wherever that is) :) but Tili sires like 90% of the calves in all their parks.

Tilikum is this whales name. First off, he is one of the few orcas left that is a captured orca. He is male, very territorial and dominant. I've saw the video of her being killed, he seemed to be acting like he was wanting to mate, because he was showing dominance towards Dawn.
Yes, he has killed two other people. But the first, a hobo snuck into his tank after hours, found dead on Tili's back. Did he try to save him? Nobody will know. I'm not sure of the second story. But this was an accident.

@Huuezoos They aren't pets. If you researched Seaworld, they base their animals with the wild varieties. They use the same tricks the whales would in the wild, like breaching (jumping and landing on its side). They are fed breakfast, lunch, dinner, and little snacks if they WANT during shows. Look they are very happy, and very incredible creatures.

Killer whales are not called killer whales. They are called orcas. The fact that killer is in the name given to them by an old movie called "Orca: The Killer Whale" has nothing to do with why this woman died.Not all orcas are friendly. @TheDreamydonno I obviously know that but most people call them killer whales and that movie I'm pretty sure came out before jaws (good movie by the way) and I don't think they're ridiculed I think they're smart animals and people are showing off their intelligence but they are treated horribly and the water park go through around five dolphins a year(not sure about orca's) because the dolphins commit suicide by decided not to breathe any more.
