I would love to thank these two for their amazing music and the racist hardship they indure, you guys will never be forgotten, much love and thank you!!!!
What a classy, talented, humble Lady. Can you name one of today's popular chart toppers that could pull off that kind of performance, while sharing the stage (and microphone), with another great singer? Ella was truely Ellegant.
We dont get this anymore now every artists is a rival and they wont sing together for fun and bounce back and forth like sammy and ella they were thinking about the love and respect they have for each other and music,Nowadays people rather collaborate only if its gonna make the most money.Everytime I watch an ella video it feels like xmas.Dont get me wrong i like new music but i love old swing and blues music and old hiphop/R&b.this is when u really needed T.A.L.E.N.T
5saxman7-Wow, this is wonderful!! Never saw it as my folks were always watching other stuff on the only TV we had. Thank you so much for sharing.............stay blessed!
Ella is so humble, playful, but she kills vocally. Flawless. Sammy was watching in awe, he was a triple threat (sing, dance, act). Even in those days when many didn't view them asequals these legends had so much respect b/c of their talent and class! Singers of today need to watch these examples more. Chills
The more I see Ella Fitzgerald , the more I like her. Beyond being an amazing talent, she always seems to come across as very down-to-earth, humble, and modest. Even her clothing was always modest and dressy but not flashy. Worlds away from the personalities of the songstresses today.
That's Tommy Flanagan on piano, Wilfred Middlebrooks on bass, Roy Eldridge on trumpet, and Gus Johnson on drums. They had either just gotten back from a tour of Japan with Jazz At The Philharmonic or were about to leave. What an amazing aggregation.
@Juscz "Lush Life" is a jazz standard with lyrics and music written by Billy Strayhorn from 1933 to 1938. However, the song was only performed privately by Strayhorn until he and vocalist Kay Davis performed it on November 13, 1948 with the Duke Ellington Orchestra at Carnegie Hall
i think ella looks and sounds fabulous here. and i love it at 1:31 when sammy sings ' maaaarvellous'. wonderful! and i think sammy's the best scating partner ella's had. i've not heard her scating so well with others on the other vids.
Ella's singing voice actually shattered a glass and when it was recorded on the audio tape made by Memorex and then played back on Memorex, it shattered a glass again.. What artist today can say they can do that? Amazing!
I have always wanted to see the full version. Can you believe these two? So exquisite. You can tell they loved what they were doing. The guys playing the instruments are also great. I think they keep a keen eye on the performers because Ella can smoothly transition and change the tone of a song at any point and still get back in the groove. All intentional of course.
@oxford172 someone had the full version up on youtube sometime back and sofa entertainment took it down... so it was on youtube, and now thank god it's back.
I can't quit smilin. Can't believe I am listening to this..... This is sooooooo great!!!!
