  • @ostrich9999 Not many my friend, not many. In fact, I don't think I can name any of todays pop stars that can even stand in his shadow.

  • now that's real music, damn Sting is good

  • I remember years ago when this came on MTV. I hit record like no one's business on my VCR and then when it was all done, I hit rewind and on my entertainment system, I have everything going in through the tuner. So I put in a blank audio cassette in the tape deck, hit play on the VCR and record on the tape deck. Now if I can only get this on a CD Or MP3.

This is the Soul Cages Tour bunch.

  • is kenny kirkland in this arrangement?

  • Ah yes the police when corporate love it !!

  • Sheer heaven- "Tea in the Sahara" is probably my favorite song of his. Such beautiful nuances. The mood is rich & exotic.

  • People should always tag all the names of the musicians. Lets do a campaign for it. Post this everywhere those of you that are with me. I hope I dont get a -6 for this

  • I agree...the Dominic guy on guitar is aces, the pianist holds his own and that Vinx gentleman definitely make these songs on the Unplugged video an entirely different beast than they were before the program was recorded.

  • I completely agree! I know all of them except the Dubey (Tumbao)player. Good comment.

BTW, Persianlover2, I feel it too!!!

  • Great!

Can someone upload Sting's performance of the Beatles' song "Blackbird"?

  • Nice directing! Nice camera work!

  • chale, la neta no me gusta sting sol, pero esta version esta muy bien, digo , nunca como con stewart y andy, pero, esta vala tambien la pena

  • I know where you're coming from bro'! I love the Police as well! They're are Perfect in their own way! But to me, the way this song is performed here is so much more beautiful than the original, so much more heart-felt, you know?

  • Agreed! This performance is perfect in every way!

  • 6:11 - 6:42 is pure magic...

  • Saw the "Ghost In The Machine" tour. Had floor tix but it was SO packed, my friend & I ran behind the stage to the 2nd row & sat down...no one said anything & visuals were SO cool from that view! At a break he ran back, flipped his bass over, did a line, then ran back up front for the next song! Our mouths hung open, then we laughed heartily! I'm SO glad the dope didn't affect him & he's still here! One of my heroes & since he translates so well, he's in nearly every genre of my library!

  • Are you serious? He did a line? And during a performance? Sting? I know he smokes pot and drinks his ass off, but Coke? When was this? My friend worked at a strip club in Dallas, TX. He said Sting showed up with his band, was incredibly polite and friendly, said, "Don't Play anything by ME!" and proceeded to get so drunk the bouncers had to help him around. He actually cancelled the next day's show, due to "Lanrangitis". Ha ha!!! But my friend said that he was an incredibly nice guy.

  • This was back in the "olden days" of 1983...I'm pretty sure that he isn't doing anything like that now, since he's still creating unprecidented music...anyone that was doing it then that might still be doing it isn't able to create music anymore...or at least they aren't able to get gigs!!

  • Right! Cheers! I think Sting still kicks ass now too. I know there are a LOT of "Nay-sayers", and I would partially agree with them. BUT, the maturity and soulfullness of songs like "I Hung My Head", "Seven Days", "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You", "Set Them Free", and "Children's Crudade", among so many others, show that he is still very much on top of his game. You can't say that about most people who have been in the biz for so long. Great mail. Thanks!

  • I totally believe what you say. I saw some of the video footage of a GITM concert in Chile back in'82 (here on youtube). In the interview he acts very fidgety and coked out, and his performance of the songs is high energy and fast but lacking in substance or soul or whateever you call it. Check those vids out and you'll see what I am saying.

  • namaste*~persianlover2*~ great audio/vid:)

  • Sting got a really beautiful sound from his Van Zalinge Electric upright bass on this performance.

  • This is Brilliant, nothing less. I never would have thought these songs could be played so beautifully this way. Amazing.

  • eccezionale

  • modern music doesn't get much better than this.

  • Thanks so much for the info. It's so true! Regardless of speed, of course, it's such a clever song and offers ingenious imagery.

  • Shit, I hit the wrong button on hand icon, sorry. I agree totally, this song is perfect this way!

  • Yeh I agree it sounds better this way.

  • both songs are amazing :D

I love Sting in the 90's when he played with Vinnie.

  • Sting and Vinnie, a marraige made in heaven for sure. Sting has never played with such a great drummer, and probably never will. It's a great musical combination which, to my mind will be hard to repeat, ever. Cheers!

  • beautiful rendition, especially of tea in the sahara.

  • Thanks for posting these! I've been waiting for years for MTV (or whoever owns the rights to these now!) to release this on CD or DVD. Great stuff!

  • Just gives you chills.

  • Sting - nothing more to say but only this:

he is one of the greatest!

  • THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR POSTING! I bought this on VHS when it was released, but its in storage, so I don't watch it nearly as much as I should!

  • The segway to Walking on the Moon is quite jazzy, nice shifts from the pianist. Dominic is excellent, and has always brought something new to Sting's sound, although Andy is the reigning heavyweight champion.

  • The words to this song make you feel like you should be riding a camel wearing white linen heading to the mosque.

  • Thank you so much for these posts.

I recorded it years ago off Mtv but i lost it and it was'nt released.....R.
