@TomAlton Very cool. I missed the whole Motorific thing when I was a kid; my cousin gave me an old chassis, and I was surprised when I got it home, threw two AA batteries in it, and off it scooted! I had NO idea what it was called, and didn't until I started collecting toys 20 years ago! Then it all came crashing back....I HAD one of those!!! I was a big Hot Wheels kid...different, but there you go. I only remember the Boaterifics as s kid, oddly, not the Motorifics.
How many times did you have to attempt the very beginning of what you show us as viewers? I can only imagine! By the way, I'm talking about where the wrecker takes off with the car right behind it, they immediately reach the passing lane where the car pulls up beside it, than slowly but surely passes it & then RIGHT before the passing lane ends, the car is able to successfully complete the pass by getting back over in front of the wrecker & then driving off like it was no big feat! GREAT JOB!
@DuaneMThomas Duane, sorry for never getting back to you, and I appreciate the compliment, but I can't take it. The answer is cooler than the idea of me being skilled. Here it is:
The Motorific cars are faster than the trucks. So, eventually, the car will catch up to the truck and tailgate it. The lane you see is called a "passing lane". Ideal engineered this to be EXACTLY the right length to make up for the difference in speed, allowing a car to exactly pass up the slower truck!!!!!!
oh geez..this brings back memories..i had this..yup..collapsing bridge too.....loved playing with it too....unfortunately thje motors all burned out..and eventually i gave them away..i wish i still had them
I had Motorific but I never saw this track, especially the collapsing bridge. Very cool. Like some other kids, I found the motors burned out quickly on the cars. I can't remember if they sold replacement motors, or if you had to buy an entire new car. Thanks for the video!
I've still got my set from Christmas 1969 when I was 5 yrs old (just reviewed my old Christmas Vids to confirm the year, yep '69 and MAN was I happy to see THAT set up on the floor Christmas morning!).
I've got most of the same stuff except I don't have the blue car or the 4 way intersection. But the bridge, speed trap, tow truck, cargo van. Got 'em all. Motors on my vehicles are still working when I got it out a few years back.
Ah this scene brings me back many memories of a happy time! I remember the 'action set', which did feature the collapsing bridge.

Didn't they used to have a TV commercial that used the line, "Anything can happen on Action HIGHWAY!"?

I had that set back around 1969. I'm amazed someone has one in working condition.
