There is a season 2 coming but a date hasn't been announced yet. However, there is a hint of it coming as early as this fall. AnimeNation has the news for anyone whose interested.

@AthleteHater That second season was To Aru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun) which was released late 2009 / early 2010 , this season follows Misaka instead of Index. There is going to be a third season, maybe thats the one you mean. Can't wait for it though.
