  • what heads are on it? sounds great!!

  • dang thats a sick nasty motor? does it got compression and roller cam?

  • What work did you do to the motor?

  • Glad to see someone is using something other than a 350... with all the 350's people put in stuff nowa days youd think thats all chevy made in the last 30 years.

  • the oil would be so happy to be in that engine :) .,,, best sounding motor on youtube

  • @levisnteeshirt I'd like to contest the claim of best sounding motor. Check out my 327 start up video, then decide.

  • @jridge56 i went and heard it ,,,, doesn't compare to this beast ,,, or make a video with it uncapped

  • A Liberty 5-speed would be a wonderful addition to the drivetrain once the auto is out of this thing. Stick cars are fun!

  • hot rodding feb 09 did a dyno test over 22

motor they had 327 with a 860 holley, 650lift cam dur at 50 242 heads 210 runner compressioon 10.5 edelbrock rpm air gap intake making at 6500 rpm 529 hp

  • I hope to build a n/a 327 soon, im thinking water injection and a HIGH c/r, I'm talking 13:1 maybe more. A 600 lift cam should keep it cool too.

  • I love how every fat-ass who sits on the toilet with a Summit or a Jegs catalog is an expert. Just like 331 down there, I've made 500 Horses with Fat-top pistons, GM iron heads, forgotten basics, and a few well kept secrects. So the rest of you "Check-book" Hot Rodders better get out the Debit Card to keep up my Mighty Mouse !!!!

  • @biscaynenick

your not gonna slap parts together and make 500hp, will take a few tricks. Unless you get fancy with the domes as in customs, flat tops will make more power and accelerate better as they are lighter

You can make 650hp with a lot of tricks, GM crank, I beam Rods and flat top 2 notch pistons with 1.94 valves, Being a stocker 327 only makes 450hp, why dont you build them? Oh what ET's did you run with 500hp 327? what weight car? trans? rear? What body style?

  • @331Trmnatr Maybe you mis-understood, I was agreeing with you. my street motor is 4.030, 1182 crank, 461's 11.0:1 flat tops daul plain intake, 5.25/5.25 solids, 474HP at the crank on pump gas. 60 Biscayne 4dr sedan, 27-2800 lbs, 4 speed, 3.70:1, best E.T. 11.56 @ 117 mph. Not exactley thrown together, but no big name Dart, AFR, Brodix,Dominator

My big horse 327's had domes, 13.5:1 squeeze made over 550 HP W/2 fours. I agree flat top 327's run out at 420-430 horses.

  • to get 500hp you would have to buy a mean set of heads like 2.08 or 2.10 afr or brodix heads bore it over 30 or 40 and a big lift cam a steel crank if not already that should make 500+ horsepower

  • You dont need 2.08 valves to make 500hp. Tell me how a Super Stock 327 makes 600hp with GM 291 heads with 1.94/1.5 valves

You can make 500hp with Dart 200cc Iron Eagles if the engine is built properly. Its not just slap together and get 500hp, what matters is your rin pack, bore finish, heads, cam, compression

  • actually iron stock camel hump heads that have been worked on would be fine boring it over .030 or.040 would not help a very significant amount and a steel crank would not give you any noticable power either you should read linginfelters book on small blocks or spend some time building some and stop reading all the aluminum head manufactuars adds

  • there called double hump heads and i know they can make 500 hp i prefer aluminum heads and i own a machine shop ive built more small blocks than you could count some under 400 ci and made 600+ hp

  • hi im wonderin if any one can give me some advice as i dont know much about workin on engines, i have a 64 chevy c10 with a 327 small block. i dont have unlimited funds but id like some advice on what id have to do to get about 500hp outta this motor what would you advise?

  • if the motor is not fresh then thats the first thing i would do. make sure you balance it as 327's need to run high rpm's to make good numbers then get your valves checked and new springs installed. i have been having great luck with turbos but that is not for every body but if you would like i could give you an over view of how you do it.

  • the ultimate small block

  • damn that things snappy huh. I love the guys giving you horsepower numbers from the exhaust note. sound like 189 moose power to me!!

  • i wish i was your neighbour!!!!!!

  • God , id hate to be your neighbour.

  • im not a chevy person but i thought it was 427?

  • chevy did make a 427, but it was a big block. this is a small block

  • @Mopar360cii chevy also made a 302...so did ford but the chevy 302s were as high winding as the 327s...id take a 327 any day over a 350 unless it was destroked to a 331 or somethin...i just like my small blocks to turn about 12 grand but hey im old school

  • hell yeah blow that ho

  • nice motor but i'd like of have seen more of that 55 in the background

  • PS: 5,500rpm is not enough but better than stock, you will see gains with a 6000stall and 5.38-5.57's

By listening im gonna say that cam is about 270-278 @.050 on a 104 lobe center

  • Assuming your car weighs 3600-3700 pounds which it probally does as that body style with a roll bar and small block is in that range race weight,, I would say the engine is 470hp but being you dont have enough rear gear and stall im gonna say your 500hp, with more converter and rear gear you will see ET's that reflect 500hp, 11.40ish

What compression? Cam? Pistons? Lobe center? Carburetor?

  • we run 327's also, IMO you use a large camshaft, lots of compression and feed it with good airflow, 200-220cc runner tops, we have two cams as follows

    283/291 @.050 680/632 106 lobe center

278/284 @.050 670/630 106 lobe center, both cams are good for 8400rpm past the lights, with an auto with 6000rpm stall we use 5.38 gears, with that car i would have 5.57's in there in pace of the 4.88's. You have an e-mail or contact number ?

  • DAMN.... damn...

  • What size cam are u rinning

  • yea i got a 327 there good engines

  • the only reason i had a stock converter in there was cause my stall converter was being built, and i'm not sure why yours was different but every body i know and race with has had the same experince and thats is the more power it makes the more it stalls and thats what my stock one did, but none the less my 5500 is way better, shitty streetability but its good enough till i can get a manual of some kind back in there

  • @yelllowbowtie55 have you looked at the G-Force?

  • i cant believe you have a stock converter in it not with all those ponies

more power = the less it will stall

i tried that and it kept killing the motor, had! to have a stall converter

  • Nice set, I just put a corvette 69 327 30 in a

    82 camaro. I have all so 84 S10 with a L98 Tpi

350 40 over motor. The 327 catch in 2nd gear.

The moto love to rev high not like the 350 motor. It will spin the wheels off line to 4th

gear. With 373 rear The S10 running 390 rear..

I have all so 84 Mazda with 372 mopar motor 727 trany dana rear 488 gearing. And I like the 327 motor better. Plus back in the late 70es I had 65 impala SS 327 running low 11s to high 10s. Keep on trucking 327.

  • nice i dig the 327 and ur 55 chevy

  • that oughtta wake the neighbors!

  • Look at the water behind, its moving!

  • Look at the water behind, its moving!

  • hey i'm 18 just bought myself a rock solid 1965 chevy 4 dr biscayne 327 3 on the tree all original except doghouse (off 1965 ss impala)...true sleeper material! Was curious about configuration of your car, the biscayne is big and boaty but is considerably lighter than your 55. what gear you running and what all have you done to your 327? considering putting 4 on floor in biscayne...wanting to outrun some punks in 90's camaro's and mustangs...got any advice?

  • just fyi: it only revvs so fast b/c/ there is nothing attached to the power side of the crank, ie: tranny, or clutch pack and tranny. no weight equals fast revs.

  • yes, thank you for that, i'm well aware of that, but i do race the car and it grabs rpms with a converter and tranny all bolted up and all just about as fast, just a tad slower. the first pass i made i launched at a very mild 3,000 and was shifting at 7500 before sixty feet. and ive got 29 ich tall tires and 488's so they are low gears, but not as low as they could be

  • please tell me about the heads.

  • small blocks and big gears just go to together :)

  • @yelllowbowtie55 looser conveter in the future?

with these small engines you want them to have minimal loads on it and that means only turning 2500rpm over the converter in the lights. if your shifting at 7500 and 6000rpm converter will add a few tenths to the ET

  • Are you familiar with 327's? They are known for quick revs, even when bolted up to a tranny.

  • Yes they do rev quick

We shift our 327 at 7800rpm and run 8200-8400rpm past the lights

Rev very quick but you have to put them in their power range off the line, 5,000rpm+

  • @TremendousKnock23 The 327 in my car winds up pretty damn quick with a 10.5" flywheel and pressure plate, Accessories hooked up etc.

  • My god that was nice. I am a big chevy 327 and Ford 289 fan. I wish I knew where to buy new 327 and 289 cranks. I just don't know why perfomance enthusiasts havn't caught on to these quick revving motors.

Thank you for making my night.

  • is this 327 a small journal crank & if so did you put a 283 crank in it so that it would rev faster?

  • @joes1234567890 That would make it a 302 chevy put them in the 67-69 z28

  • hell yes there better then a 350 :D

  • i hard these moters are fast. is that true? are they better then a 350?

  • in my opinion they are a more efficient motor than the 350.

  • I'd say a 327 will live longer at high revs too , easier to find a factory steel crank for a small jornal block , but they need to be set up for higher RPM's than a 350 to do the same job , but the 327 will respond to modifications better I think , but you have to get the converter or a 4speed and gear right before they'll outrun a 350

  • they usually need more gear than a 350 though

  • more eficient, higher reving, bettter machining from the factory, better engine block castings... the list goes on

  • gotta love how the headers ring after that first attempt at a start up. that is one badass mouse motor!

  • sweet!---------i let my chev idle in the driveway with open headers-------got a bunch of complaints---

  • i like that stand you're using sick engine too

  • god damn man that things sounds like a beast and a 327 to boot like to see a import sound that good, I THINK NOT!!!!!!!

  • Not a de-stroke?

  • nope not a destroke. a true .30 over 67 block. and a forged steel small journal 3.25 stroke crank

  • Sounds real good.....she's all business, a real spinner.

  • What kind of rods did you use? And did you have to have the crank balanced? I built the 327 in my 65 Chevelle and I caused the number 8 rod to get the journal stretched...it is small enough that resizing it would fix it right up but I was wondering about getting new rods. Thanks

  • nice car

  • sounds like the flywheel ringing to me...not the tubes. Nice motor tho..

  • How do you get 500 horses out of that motor? isn't it on the verge of self destruction?

I had a 327, but nothing like this.

  • the same way you get 762 horse out of a 468.

  • nice motor, i am also building a 327 drag motor & yes it will rev that high without being on the verge of destruction. my first 327 revved at 10,000RPMS but not with the load just sitting out of the car.

  • the old pro stock 327's were said to produce 700 hp back in the 70's ,, with cast iron heads/ tunnel ram 2-4's

  • i love this video, ive got one even smaller! ive got a 302 chevy in my nova i did it the wold way took a 283 and bored it .125 over and there ya go 4 inch 3 inch stroke. 12.60's

  • thats impossible. lol the 283 block cant be bored that much the cylinder walls would be rediculously thin and brittle. plus it would overheat and warp quicker than u could start it.

  • dont tell me its impossible when i ahve the damnt hing in my garage! go look it up 301's were very popular in the 60's especially in the gasser classes c/gas and d/gas and many a street car.

  • whoops i was thought i read "265" motor. my mistake that was in my head earlier today

  • @theginacologist I bored mine .125 with no problems drove it daily for three years than sold it no problems they had very thick walls

  • yes it is

  • this video rules, ive got one even smaller! ive got a 302 chevy in my nova i cheater and took a 283 bored it .125 12.60's not bad for a street tune up!

  • In my personal opinion, prior to the ls series chevy small blocks, the 327 was the best small block chevy ever made.

  • just curious but why the 327? the extra rpm?

  • haha, i saw the fence guy. thats hilarious. i love at 0:06 how the primary tube rings like a bell from the sick compression ratio.

this motor sounds badass. cant wait for time slips =]

  • ha, at 1:36 the neighbor looks around the fence and realizes maybe his life does need more excitement.

  • nothing sounds like a small block chevy

  • agreed, nothin sounds like a small block chevy

  • now when u gonna put it in that nice ass bel air u got in the back

  • thats the badest small block chevy i ever saw ...pure evil

  • yeahhh, that sounded good. it's too bad they didn't continue those early 327's right thru till, well now.

  • hey what cam?

  • What were the nieghbors thinking

  • kick ass!

  • what a sweet engine to hopefully put in the even sweeter car behind it.

  • yer about to get a rod in yer hip...other than that, great motor.

  • omg, this engine rapes your ears, then proceeds to have sex with ur eyes from all the rapage it produces, kick ass engine

  • i agree with you...lol

  • excellent stuff
