@rowhide She played here in Vegas about 2 years ago. Her show has always been terrific, and she graciously meets & greets anyone who wants to say 'hi' after her shows.

@mrgbennet Well, it was his show and he was giving her national exposure (#1), he thought the harmony would add to the tune (some agreed, maybe most) (#2), he loved to sing as did Brenda, who didn't mind that he joined in...not one bit (#3)...shall I go on?

@lazurm 'His show' is no excuse. I know he gave Brenda her break and exposure but why impose competency (I won't say mediocrity) on greatness ?

He should have resisted the urge. I love to sing but would not dare crash into a scorching performance (as they all were) by Brenda Lee. For pity sake !

Brenda may not have minded but i certainly did and the four other who have voted me up.

i was told by someone who said they knew brenda lee personally,because she was so small they fudged her age to get more publicity.we were told she was 10 yrs old when she started when she was actually 16.

Here are the facts:

Brenda was born December 11, 1944. Her first record, "Jambalaya"/"Bigelow 6-200" (Decca 30050), came out in September 1956.

Thus she was 11, even though the Decca label read "Little Brenda Lee — 9 Years Old."

And that is the true story.
