  • sounds like a 2t22 or a ThunderBolt

  • thunderbolt??!!!

  • @BigbyBodhi5 @N617A It is a 10/12 port 500AT. Thunderbolt 1000T's and 1003's don't really sound like this, a 1000 is single tone, and 2001's are single toned.

  • That is a "violent" siren :) I love these videos! They can get a tornado chaser through a long, cold winter..

  • it sounds more like a tbolt then a 500AT... its got the echoey ish thing and it rotates... in fact to me it sounds like a 1003... it could be a 1000... but the 500 does not have that tinny smooth echoey sound... and the 3t22 and 2t22 don't rotate... it could VERY possibly be a 2001 but it doesn't have the "plastic" sound either.

  • oh! On the 4th of July?! That stinks!

  • @johnnydeppxoxoxo1 I do not recall that being on July 4th, I think thats just when he updated the video. I may be wrong but I remember that that storm was I think before July 4th. Unless I'm thinking of the storm that happened this summer, which was worse.

  • @cauberallies sorry. but thank you for telling me what it was. I REALLY did think it was one of those. But thank you. :)

  • It almost sounds like a 2T22. I know its a Thunderbolt.

  • @Cars2fan

    It's not a Thunderbolt or a 2T22. It's a 10/12 port Federal 500AT, without a doubt.

  • Thunderbolt:-)

  • is it a thunderbolt?

  • the sound of hittlers ass

  • @mariofan426 Idiot.

  • @amstaff198611 oh god im soo srry,my bro always messes around with my youtube account

  • @mariofan426 ...LOL, you and your brother must be two completely differential people, aren't you?

  • @GeistvonWut hell yea

  • @mariofan426 lol!

  • I came from Germany, but it SCARED my ass off, evry time i heard this Sound.

  • In my opinion, the 2001's suck. My city has more than 20 of them and I live right in the middle of the city and you can't hardly hear them.

  • SCARY

  • This would have been perfect, but for the voice interruption.

  • Now thats a thing of beauty

  • There Was A Powerflash from the tornado (Did You See It???)

  • @vistageek00 omfg that is some scary sh%* right there

  • REALLY. i think theyre thunderbolt 1000t's

  • @TitanLover8011

    It's a 500AT. I've seen pictures of it.

  • wow really dark clouds

  • "That's the tornado siren." .... Really!?! I thought it was someone's car alarm going off when it got hit by a pumpkin sized hailstone.

  • @Pkm188 lol

  • me and my friend live there and we went to my house to get clothes and when we got to his house they went off.. then we woke up and went to the skate comp.. haha =]

  • i live in abilene and me and my friend where going to my house to get clothes for me when this went off and the next day we had a skate comp. ha=]

  • This kinda siren would scare the crap out of alot of people living in the Australian bush during summer especially if a fire is running rampant

  • Thats either a 3t22 or 2T22.

  • @Droideka133

good guess, but it is a 500AT

  • Nice Sky and lightning.....and i Hear a Thunderbolt in the Background...that is without a doubt the Scariest,Erriest Sound Siren ever made...its the kind of siren that Yells "Move your Ass!"

  • if any one wants to know what I would be doin, id sit there and crap my pants. I would crap my pants "sploosh"

  • Hmm....I thought Abilene took down their Federal sirens? Guess not, but they did add Sentry sirens i think.

  • "Federal Signal... scaring the shit out of people... since 1901." - My new proposed company slogan.

  • @Pkm188 LMFAO

  • @Pkm188 Scaring the shit outta people until the 2001 came along...then it's just annoying people lol.

  • @Tabby266 Ahhh comon now! Its not the sirens but the people who set them off!!! Seriously, in my city the sirens go off everytime it looks like it's going to rain. hahah

  • @Pkm188

    Federal Signal:

"Telling you to run for cover since 1901.

Doing a crappy job of it since 1988."

  • @twotailedavenger hey this is pkm188's other profile..i cant log into my other one anymore for some reason? but anyway i do agree, they do a crappy job.

  • @Hbryant188

Especially since '88; that's when the first 2001 was introduced. The Thunderbolt was discontinued two years later.

  • ,,did they make thunderbolts ?

  • i think 2 years ago

  • 500at dude!!! i love this siren its kinda scary... but cool!!!!

  • i love that..at night, storms comming and sirens ! sweet

  • t bolt

  • wrong, 500-AT.

  • Yup, Federal Signal 500-AT. And it is true that this isn't a 2T22, they have a much different sound, and they do not rotate... It does kind of sound like a Thunderbolt, but the chopper settings would have to be really messed up in order to be one.

  • I don't think the chopper settings would have anything to do with it. The fact that the Thuderbolt's chopper is like 1/4 the size of the 500AT's, and the fact that the Tbolt is supercharged with a blower, and is a completely different design would make it very, very difficult to accurately imitate a 500T or vice versa.

  • Very true, although if you think about it, it does sound like a higher pitched 1003. I am not saying that it is, because I definitely know it is a 500-AT. I was just kind of saying there is an argument for whoever says it's a Thunderbolt.

  • This is what I want to know. Knowing Federal's history of sirens that share the same parts, I wonder if they ever used this 10/12 rotor in any other siren? The STL-10 is the only other FS siren that has a rotor that we haven't yet seen in another siren. Federal already had a perfectly good 9/12 dual tone rotor, which was used in the 500T, SD-10, 5/7T, so why would they make a new 10/12 rotor just for this siren? There has to be an SD-10 or something out there with one of these in it.

  • Definitely an SD-10 with one. That question really makes me wonder...

  • I'd almost go as far as to say I'm obsessed with the idea of rare sirens with 10/12 port choppers. There HAS to be at least one model out there with this chopper. Or a 10/12 Hurricane, or more Mobil Directos/Allertors, or a Model 2T in 5/6 like a 1000T, or something we haven't even thought of.

I can't find any real information, and I've been a siren geek for 15 years. I've been researching this stuff for 3/4 of my life. Something is bound to come up sooner or later.

  • @cauberallies CLM siren are rare only 4 left in existance

  • thats crazy siren

  • im scared of tornado sirens.but im 11 and iv got a big fear of tornados.i dont know why

  • u had a tornado?

  • can you record this siren during the test?

  • federal signal 500at

  • its a 2t22 sirem

  • 500at....you can tell its rotating....2t22's don't rotate.

  • kinda sounds like a thunderbolt

  • nope, 500AT. in my opinion, they are actually way cooler.

  • WOAH tornado siren? You must have been a little scared.

  • I agree with you Murrfarms, after you have heard them in person there is no way they can be mistaken for any other siren. They have a distinct tone.

  • Abilene has atleast two 500ATs.

  • That sounds like a Federal Signal XT22.

  • It sounds like it's rotating, so it could be a 500AT.

  • Definitely, without a doubt in my mind, a 500AT. Heard them in person on several different occasions, and that sound can't be mistaken for any other siren, not even the 10/12 Allertor/Mobil-Directo.

  • the mobil directo has sort of a hum, so this has to be a 500AT. they are my favorite siren.
