Man, do I miss 1984! Our great nation was prospering financially, we had an All-American President in The White House who kowtowed to no one, & we had great songs playing on the radio like this one! President Reagan even admired & praised Bruce Springsteen as a patriotic American (even though their political views differed greatly)!!! Reagan admired Springsteen so much, that Reagan briefly used "Born In The U.S.A." as his campaign theme song during the 1984 Presidential campaign. R.I.P., Ronnie.
@ChihuahuaboyDH Bruce Springsteen is a Democrat & most likely despised Ronald Reagan back in "1984". The lyrics to Born In The U.S.A are about a Vietnam veteran who comes home after risking life & limb for his country & can't find a job or any respect. It's not a a patriotic anthem song whatsoever. It's about the casualities of war & the soldiers who make it home to a country divided.
not saying this ain't a good song, it is but nuthin like Thunder Road, BadLands, The River its kinda on the commercial side of the biz compared to these great songs he has composed in the past! Must have been an "excutive" decision to put this on album?
@PrinzAviator here in Canada Ottawa Ontario 2 weekends of the year its give-a-way weekend people just throwing stuff out and i stumbled across this, good condition
This song is really time appropriate. This world is just getting tougher and rougher. The winds seem to be a whole lot more wild, outside the rain and the driving snow seems to be a little more driven.
I think going inside and closing the door to the whole mess is a really great idea.
Springsteen. Enough said. Guy's a freakin' genius. Born In The U.S.A. might just be the best album ever. Every track has potential as a hit single. Every single track. You can't say that about too many albums, really.
Love this song!

One of the few good ones from Bruce's "commercial" album ... sounds more like vintage, raw-edged Bruce .... when he was at his best.
