Pull your lame brain heads out of the sand and look at the realities. The west is losing influence. The naysayers should get out a little more. Decadence has been running for four weeks in cinemas in Australia and in peak Christmas season when blockbusters usually rule the screens. Plainly, there is a thinking audience for its content. Sorry Macanaut et al, you just don't get it.
the christians have been predicting the end of the world since jesus promised to return before the end of the then current generation... forgive me if I decide to ignore the latest incarnation of this particular aspect of their delusional fantasy
A sickening film. Viswalingam's a disgraceful man w/ no respect 4 political, economic, or cultural theory (bar a couple of all too brief appearances by Chomsky). The presentation is boring, incoherent, & inartistic. The values upheld can be characterized as politically centrist, socially conservative (i.e. Christian), & historically ignorant. Even lauding boarding school. So, if you're thing is watching washed-up journalists pontificate inanely while on holiday, then this "essay film" is 4 you.
while I agree with a large amount (not all) of what was said in this documentary, there is absolutely nothing new offered by it. more than than, what it does say covers such a vast swathe of issues, and is so poorly hung together that I was quick to lose interest. not to mention the production values - any text looks like it was made on microsoft word art, and the visuals quickly become meaningless - it looks like stock footage, or a karaoke video. poorly researched, lazy, and ultimately boring
At the end of the movie, the shows host looks into the camera with an arrogant smirk and announces that the things the western world has "are going, going, ........."
This movie seems more like a vehicle for the non western host and director to take a swipe at us.
Save ur money folks. This movie was just a boring bag of borrowed opinions, with few stats, and far less balance. "30% of american couples dont have sex". No stats offered for non american/western countries. Just one example of how loosely put together this film is. Couldnt wait for it to end. 1 star out of 5. My lowest ever rating.
I think the problem lies mainly in the decadence of the few over the impoverishment of the many and the trampling of democracy to the point where there is nothing we can do about it anymore, except wait for the whole corrupt system to collapse on us, at which point perhaps there would be a bloody revolution? who knows?
Sorry, that´s just false, there is no stable balance of power in it. The multipolar first half of the 20th c. was way more violent than the second half, which was bipolar.
Islam is a different kind of religion, it´s a political entity. The middle eastern culture didn´t know the concept of territorial nation states, europeans brought it there. Religious communites ARE the traditional nations in the orient. Judaism = nation, Islam = nation. Eastern christendom = nation and so on
My concern is not so that there will be a new - asian - world order. China has the potential to be a world leader but traditionally had never a global agenda. India is chaotic and still has a feudalistic caste system and many superficial faiths.
Islam has a global agenda and a fast growing population but no central power. Its fanaticism is able to cause huge chaos in the world.
Si all in all, my oncern is not a new world order, but no order. You know, a new medieval period !
why did the West invent human rights ? What is the basic difference between the West and China, Islam and India ? It is that here the individual is the main subject of rights, in those three asian civilizations, the group is !!
With India I have more hope, but China and Islam are absolutely collectivist and therefore not likely to love human rights. And this is also why they are so loved by leftists, who are themselves collectivists.
These countries (India, China) are just developing to the top. Why should they be more peaceful ? Despite the wars of the West, human rights are a western invention. The Red Cross is not just helping christians. Can you imagine an islamic aid organization helping "infidels" ? A chinese ? The rich arab oil states didn´t even help Pakistan during the flood, they treat them like shit in Dubai.
The western civilization makes many mistakes, but missing it makes me sad...
We've started igniting these 'fires' in over eight countries and three continents with the proliferation of cultural shows such as 'Poetry Brothels'. It's just a shame we didn't find each other sooner; myself or one of my colleagues could have helped add an uplifting message to part of your doc!
This looks absolutely fascinating. I'm one of the Cultural Ambassadors for Leicester City (UK) and represent the English branch of the Brothellian Movement. We've been highlighting these issues for a few years by caricaturising the decline of morals and rise of anti-naturalism, (in other words, 'faux decadence', or 'fighting fire with water in the guise of fire').

If every soldier in the wo-orld
Put down his weapon and picked up a woman
What a peaceful world this world would be-eee... Redheads not warheads
Blondes not bombs
We're talkin' about brunettes not fighter jets Oooh Oooh it's got to be Sweet 16's not M-16's
When will the governments realize it's got to be funky sexy ladies?

The people who´re looking forward to this decline are idiots. A world without the West will be far more violent, backward and authoritarian.

We're expecting to confirm a release date shortly.

Great trailer though I believe the fear of decadence has been with us for ages.
