@illiniman94 if I'm not reading your comment right forgive me if I'm correcting you and there is no reason to.This is Steve Perry singing, this is from the Escape album which I listened to many times over and over back when it came out in 1981...my bro was a big Journey fan and we would listen to tunes together all the time. The current drummer for Journey now, Dean Castronova, does sing this live sometimes and there is a vid of him on youtube, he has a great voice and somewhat similar to Steve.

I do not hate Steve, but some people might because his ego is huge. That is the main reason why he was fired. Steve said he never really felt like a part of the band but he fired Steve Smith and Founder Ross Valory for Raised on Radio. Schon said during an interview that after shows, when the band would go meet the fans, Steve would already be gone.

Really emotive song from a great album. The non-single tracks were just as strong imo. I was only about 7 when Escape was out but I probably wouldn't have been able to see them anyway as they rarely came over to the UK back in their heyday. Got the Live In Houston '81 dvd a few years ago though which is great.

This is a beautiful song. Always have loved the cries of the lyrics to hold a family together. there is so much hurt in the world a family must be strong and stay together. Divorce, runaways, infidelity, jobs, money, jealousy its a tough world at times. Keeping together and loving each other and accepting each others short falls. That is what being a family is all about. IMO Be good to each other, you only have one life, don't waste it.
