But were we really 'shit'? Inconsistent yes...but shit? In this clip we're beating a much revered Spurs team with Gazza and Lineker 3-0 at WHL. And also in this season we were the only team to beat champions Arsenal all year, we took 6 points off Man United and we more-or-less ended Liverpool's title challenge by beating them 4-2 at the Bridge.
I don't like all this 'Chelsea used to be so shit' stuff. I'm 27 and have only ever seen 1 Chelsea season outside the top flight,
im a gooner that ended up going to this game as a mate of mine(y#d) had a spare ticket and offered to take me. Anyway i sat in the upper stand of the shelf stand and witnessed one of the biggest offs ive ever seen when chelski scored the first goal. There must have been 200 chelski in the scum stand and it went off big time, spilled onto the pitch i think. great night!
Chelsea in the early 90's should have done so much better: Townsend, Wise, Dorigo, Durie, Dixon, Le Saux. A Team with those names should have challenged for a title. Football was more innocent back then though and more competitive. Not a case of you knew who was going to win the title before the season kicked off.
i was at the 1st game ended 0-0 we battered spurs that night , if it had been a boxing match the ref would have stopped it, never did get to see the highlights of that game as when i got home that night to watch it , the first gulf war had started that night.
