  • I bought the kit but I want to know how to modify it, inserting the jack.

  • @TheRealTobobias

There's a schematic showing the mod at the bottom of the web page linked in the description. If you need more info email me and I'll try to help you.

  • @MarbleMad

    Thanks very much.

  • This is brilliant!

  • I think the po po could pull someone over with that thing mounted to their cars. It sounds just like a siren. Pull over the theremin cops are coming.

  • MarbleMad is unavailable to comment as he is currently being held on remand, accused of crimes against music.

  • @MarbleMad Congratulations.

  • i would deff. be more receptive to those sounds.

  • I dunno about the circuit, but I'd recommend that MF-102 to anybody! I'd be lost without mine.^_^

  • i just bought this kit and cant wait to get started. my girlfriend is an electronic noise musicial so i will definitely be modifying it so she can use it in shows, if she ever decides to play out doors!

  • interesting Noisy Show !!!

  • I suppose it is a nice device. I am sorry to be such a snot-nosed jerk. I love little oscillators, and have built a few of my own. With skill, it can indeed be used in a musical sense, and to great effect.

  • On second thought, after reading more comments, maybe it was the group "Project Pimento's" rendition of the Star Trek theme at the beginning; their thereminist Robby Virus is excellent and one of the few capable of such good accuracy.

  • It can be played and it can be played well given the right circumstances (although not by me sadly)

  • Yes as I mentioned earlier this is Project Pimento's version. Robby Virus is a wonder ad compliments Lola Bombay's beautiful voice wonderfully. BTW I in no way intended anyone to think that was the device playing. Did anyone think that? no. thought not. As for the 'toy' accusation. What's wrong with toys :) I would describe it as an inspirational toy. Something a musician can carry around and fool around with in fun and creative ways. It IS a fully functional musical instrument though.

  • The Star Trek theme never used a theremin. It was the voice of Loulie Jean Norman. The Star Trek theme used at the start of this video probably wasn't a theremin either; more likely a synthesizer, owing to the pitch accuracy and sine-like timbre. In any case, this little "theremin wannabe" device, with it's awful sound, was not used for the intro music, although the maker seems to want you to believe it was. This thing is really a toy in every respect.

  • That has got to be the most obnoxious thing i have ever heard.

  • ...and kinda creepy

  • hm. I think its pretty cool

  • ?????

  • Great build, i've wanted to do a couple of the make magazine projects for a while now, and now i'll finally have a use for all those altoids tins!

  • Hey ...to a musician these things are like fucking candy bars!

    Nice job;] Make some noise!

  • this is a useless piece of junk, all its good for is burning or blowing up and hurting peoples ears go do somthing better with you time

  • fat people are annoying. we have to be. noone will pay any attention to us otherwise.

  • that's because you're harder to kidnap...sorry read it on a bumper sticker...j/k

  • damn straight.

  • Ahhh...I'm starting to get dizzy with this buzz

  • nintendo

  • watch at 2:19 into the video. That would be the future Nintendo DS. ... but seriously congrats on building the most annoying thing ever and showing us how to build it and annoy everybody in the world with this.

  • Very Cool.. I Just So See How It will Fit In Today's World...

Good Luck.. Solar Power is Great... Put an IC into it and a Keyboard and You Might Have Something...

  • the one part reminded me of the beastie boys intergalic song.

  • this should have been called: useless solar powered obnoxious electronic junk not resembling a theremin at all part 2.

  • That's rough.....but funny!!!

  • Very kool stuff I had a program on my phone which was a Theremin and it blew the speaker out lol. But thanks for the vid real kool

  • awesome. I love theremins. great vid!

  • three words:

    FAT

    HAIRY

    HANDS

from this day forth you will be called:

    FHH!

  • Did my vid just get featured on some site for creepy people with a podgy hand fetish?

  • You know it did :D

  • Wow. Dude that was an epic fail right there. o-o.

  • lol,exactly

  • two words

    fat... hands

    xD

  • lol

  • I'll repeat the reply I gave to the 'sausage fingers' comment.

"Artist's hands (with which I could crush you)"

  • LOL

  • waiy

  • what is the song at the start?

  • It´s the STAR TREK Original Series from the 60´s theme. But a little modified.

  • StarTrek.

    Played by Project Pimento.

You can get the mp3 free of their web site and I highly recommend buying their 2 albums.

  • why oh why!?! You are correct the other one was pretty annoying, but at least with this one you have more range to play with... maybe even approach musicality!?

  • you didn't like my polyphonic rendition of 'prelude to outer-space' then? In my defence I'd only just created the device .. was just puting it through its paces and figuring out what you could and couldn't do with it. With luck someone with some actual musical talent will post a vid of the thing in action.
