  • The music, quite intense.

  • I have to love this movie, whether I want to or not. Now this is ballet!

Long, hard, tiring, demanding, powerful, endless... and if it's done right--beautiful, magical... and a superhuman triumph over what is considered mortally possible.

These ladies, their goregous long lines, fine feminine grace, their exquisite power and those powerful legs which seem to have evolved to the point where those girls themselves might be able to fly...

--Your newest fan in awe, Dane Youssef

  • the of the music pleaseeeeeeee!!! Is beautifulllllllllllllllll!!!!

  • I like the intensity of this class maybe its just music lol but they're working hard

  • They're doing little more than plies, foot stretches, and port de bras.

    It's the music.

  • wow, they do the same routines i did in ballet.

  • Cinevox seems to be a #go-through station' and has produced some amazing later soloists: Wataru Shimizo, Japan, for instance, ex.-cinevox, now with van Cauwenbrgh at aalto opera, Essen, germany. Thank you, cinevox!

  • it is art.

  • I love how they make every move look like art.

  • where do i get the music from this video

  • Oh my god. This video is totally inspirational. I'm just a beginner but I'm super determined and I hope I'll be this good some day! :)

  • i like this asian girl

  • maybe strong, but they musn't in their hand!!!! LOOK! They aren't stand on their legs!

  • ballerinas arent muscular?? not to be rude but i think you should re-watch the video and look at there legs they are actually quite strong and muscular

  • i believe they were referring to the fact that their muscles aren't very bulky.

but ballet dancers are, in fact, immensely strong.

  • Agreed! Ballerinas muscles are generally small but well-defined and rock hard.

  • your an idiot if you think ballet dancers are not strong!

  • did anyone ever say ballerinas werent strong???

  • Does anyone know what brand of pointe shoes that were at the beginning? i love how it's not all satin and shiny.

  • Hello!those pointshoes were painted with stage make-up exactly for the reason not to shine with the stage lights. That's how we do.:)

  • thank you! :)

  • i've been taken ballet for 11 years now and it is wat i want to do for the rest of my life and these girls are good i mean really good but i did see quite a few mistakes

  • the music makes it seem intense! i love it!

  • I used to do ballet when I was a child

wish I hadn't given it up now

  • i feel the same way....though i think i am much to tall now, to do it

  • I don't like the black tights for ballet it doesn't look nice or prfessional and it hides mistakes you are making. And some of them are wearing jewelery. But the dancers are fine.

  • i been doing ballet for four years. good thing im still enjoying it. . now im using toe shoes. .

  • Ballerinas are not very muscular, but they are strong than they look.

  • I love the angles and the music to this video!! The dancers are also doing very well. Good job!

  • i loved all off the angles in the this video!

  • This video is AWESOME! The music is very cool, and I love the way the different camera angles and scenes are pieced together. This got me pumped up for my summer intensive camp in 3 weeks!

  • It is pretty.

  • hey im startin ballet cos i need it 4 skool is there any video responses that can give me some warm up ideas and moves cos i go to a performing dance scholl and have started ballett so i need some tips please thanxxx much

  • wow wish i'm like them. do you sweat so much doing ballet? does it hurt to stretch and bend like that?

  • if you've been dancing for a long time with barely any breaks, then you probably do sweat alot. theres a lot more physical demands in ballet than people think.

  • aha! YES IT HURTS! I do ballet and yes you sweat VERY MUCH, it hurts VERY BAD to stretch and bend even halfway like that.

  • ive been doing ballet from when i was 4 so my body is streched and i can do splits and stuf like that now

  • What I really liked about this clip is the videography in it: the audience was made to see both the beautiful and the less appealing (eg: sweat & discipline) sides of ballet. Some girls may have grabbed the bar and in other instances they may have seemed too perfect to be true, but it's an interesting & complete video. Editing must have been quite tricky.

  • all these girls are grabbing the bar! It's meant to be ONE hand LIGHTLY placed, to allow balance!

  • i agree, but its still an

    excellent video.

i like how it shows some of the intensity of ballet, which alot of people cant see.

  • Some of those girls are wearing very long earrings for dancing in... where is this school? It's nice but the music is annoying.

  • this is beuatiful dancing but really tough on their girls ankles, which is why you dont see very many old ballerinas

  • Ballet isn;t that tough on the ankles if you practice correct technique. Technique is designed to prevent injury and make ballet look beautiful and precise. There are lots of pro dancers who dance into their 40s or even later, and they still continue to dance after retirement.

  • it looks so modern

    nice

  • ha, if you are talking about the dance technique, that is not modern, that is ballet.

  • i didn't talk about the technique, and i (more than) know it is ballet

I'm sorry if my comment wasn't clear

  • o, ok

    My bad

    sorry

but I agree, the film and music is mod...very

  • beautiful!

  • Lovely dancers!

  • just amazing- both the dancing and the cinematography

  • I love ballet. It's my love, my inspiration !!

    <33

  • Ballet is quite tough for a 47 year old 220 lbs male !

  • Music: i think this video is not abut beauty, but about hard work. And this music is good.

Girls: some of them jumps really terrible!!!

  • some of the girls cant leap! seriously

  • I have to agree with Mamichulaa718, the music is horrible for this video. It takes away from the beauty and the essence of the video.

  • i just got on pointe. One of my goals is to be Clara in the nutcracker!

  • One of my goals is just to be in the Nutcracker. Since I don't dance for a company I can't really be in it unless I try out for a part when the Moscow ballet comes to town.

  • lol cool me too!!!!! that has always been my dream!!!! ever sence i was about 9 or 10!!

  • @mandc4eva

I've been clara in the nutcracker! (pretty much you run around with the party girls, receive the nutcracker, fall asleep, wake up and fight some rats, then watch the variations from a little thrown in the corner) its still fun though!

  • L'ambiance est vraiment bien, je trouve!!!

    ça, c'est une bonne école!

    Bravo!

  • I'm starting pointe next year, in October... gah, still some time to go... I'm a bit impatient but I keep telling myself that I can practice my technique until then and become better, like well prepared to do pointe

  • YAY!! thats great but make sure ur mentally prepaired for the pain that comes with it. the toes, the toe nails, extra aching muscles-- its REALLY hard at first but at the same time its like an adventure!!! good luck!!!!!<333

  • congrats. i bet u can't wait. i have been on pointe for 2 years. it is alot of fun to me. good luck

  • I'm starting Pointe work in January. I can't wait. ^_^

In a years time, I'm going to audition for a ballet school and hopefully become a professional dancer and join a company.

  • good luck hope u do well

  • Thank you. ^_^

  • how high can they do a frikin grand batemond( soz dont noe how to spell it). did u noe that ballet not including afl is the strongest sport

  • yes i is, 4 god sake!!! everything takes hard work. yea frinkin carcrashheart99. i am getting my pointe. but can some1 give me advice. me scared yea frinkin carcrashheart99

  • iv been whearing point shoes sence

    i was like 11 years old =]

  • en esa clase esta SYLVIE GUILLEM!!!

    NO SE DIERON CUENTA???

  • no lo creo! no ves el nivel que tiene?

  • i've been doing ballet since i was 5, trained at SF Ballet.. pointe was harsh on feet the first year, after that it was alright, you just get used to it. i did hockey a lot too, so my ankles are pretty strong, never sprained it before, so i guess that helped too.

  • i've been on pointe for a very long time. and it's not that bad. and yes we do hard workouts and go to a strict acadamy. your feet don't get THAT beat up..you get blisters. you get that from a lot of sports.

  • my feet are fine and i've been on pointe for years, sure you get blisters but it strengthens your feet and makes you a better dancer

  • Actually, it's better for your feet.

You are less likely to break or sprain bones, tear ligaments or any other kind of damage normally done.

Strength is the key thing in Pointe work.

If you think things like that then why do you watch ballet videos?

  • I wonder what their feet look like outside of those shoes...

  • mmm..a lot of blood and fewer nails! oh..it's a wonderfull pain..! The truth is tha it really hurts but you learn how to be tolerant

  • if your doing it right it shouldn't hurt too bad, i only occasionaly get blisters from pointe

  • their feet look normal

  • where did you get this music? is it on myspace or i-tunes? love this video.

  • Of course you do class on pointe... as a professional ballerina you are expected too.

Ballet isnt about what is good for your body. It is about making your body look beautiful through expression and technique, musicality... not if you have sore feet or a blister.

how do you expect to do 32 Fouettes if you dont have the strength in your feet? that would cause injury

This is why only the elite make it in the business. No pain No gain.

  • that was realy nice... dont quite understand the index finger stiff out like that but maybe times have changed! great class brings back a lot of memories for me. :)

  • Beautiful.

There are a pretty korean girl, who dances very well and pretty.

    I love ballet.

  • Beautiful video - I wish the tombe coupe jete clip was a full view, it's one of my favorite steps. Thanks for posting!

  • Proffessional dancers wear old pointe shoes. Anyway thease girls are practising pointe which is good.

  • maybe you dont get respect because of your bitchy attitude?

  • what a twat.

  • You won't get dissed because of your weight, race or culture.

If your attitude towards dancing is bad than people won't respect you.

I dance because I love it. For my soul and heart.

If it got taken away from me I don't know how I would live.

I understand that dance is your life, just try to not let it bother you.

You should dance because it is for your life.

Let nothing stop you and act happy about being differant.

  • Like that attitude will get you anywhere. Why don't you rethink why people don't respect you.

  • I have been dancing for 10 years.

  • I love ballet (even though i don' dance it) it's really hard especially when you have to learn to hold up your leg it hurts so much

  • ballet is really beautiful but i must admit it gets hard most of the time (if not all the time). when i was little i wanted to take ballet lesons because i thought the tutus were really beautiful and they are!

  • god i love ballet but its so hard sumtimes!

  • its hard all of the time unless your baryshnikov. lol

  • I absolutely am in love with the way ballet trains the body, in every movement consists of a lot of hard work and muscle strengh, beautiful.

  • OMG it looks so damn beautiful... but i think its really hard...

  • They shouldnt wear pointe shoes for class not good.

  • Professional dancers always take class in pointe shoes. Why shouldnt these girls?

  • But how would they practice and get the techinique right if they didnt wear them wuith instructors..!

  • They are studying pointe, so you kinda have to wear the shoes

  • That isnt good for your feet. At all.

  • You cant streach your feet out right, and you can wear them for pointe class to do exersizes for pointe shoes.Just dont do class in them.

  • Umm ya I knida know I've been dancing pointe for 6 years. But they are doing pointe work they can't wear soft shoes.

  • you are suppose to wear pointe shoes when you do pointe work

  • it is fine for your feet

  • uh how else are you suppose to learn to use point shoes.

  • you take classes

  • You can't proberly use the musles in you feet.

  • you can use the muscles trust me im been on pointe for a while and im fine and i use the muscles in my feet

  • i take classes with my pointe shoes that is how you strenghthen your feet and muscles

    you dumb ass

  • Does this bring back memories... Wonderful, although, I could do without the music. Chopin wold have been preferred!

  • lovely!!! my ballet classes are exactly like that!!

  • what music is it? so cool :-). thx

  • terrible upper body support.

  • Gawd, they 'er so good I wish my ballet classes were that intense

  • ME TOOO

  • I love this video. It lets people know how hard it is. They're lucky they can wear black tights.

  • My class is allowed to wear leggings over their ballet tights. One girl once wore bright pink ones but the teacher said to her that they weren't appropriate so she sticks to the black ones now.

There's also one girl who wears a leotard with gymnastics shorts because she doesn't have tights but she does gymnastics so she wears the shorts she has for them.

It's just my teacher I think but I think that she only lets us do that for winter.

  • i thought gymnastics and ballet didnt go together??? it just what i heard

  • No. I have other girls in my glass who do ballet when their season of gymnastics is finished and then go back when it starts again, to keep them flexible.

The person who wears the shorts does gymnastics all the time, I don't think she has seasons, but I think she does ballet just for the extra strengthening.

  • Are those proffesional dancers cause when you showed the part where it was one dancer after another doing leaps I saw a few dancers that really sucked at them XP

  • i like this video very much because it shows how hard ballet dancers have to work since some people think ahhh its just a couple of people jumping around, its easy, this proves too them that they are so wrong and that they should appreciate it more

  • i knoww. =/

  • That was lovely I luv ballet so much!

  • ballet dancers are so hot!!!!!

  • i was wondering where all the men were... then one guy popped up at the end =P

  • that does look like they've been given a pretty intense workout, but that's the way to get better, and they all look beautiful... hard work is the way forward...

  • yeah the girls did a good job but why having so intense music!!

  • It's called ballet for your info, and pointe shoes take a great amount of hard work and strength. So don't just judge things from their beautiful outside form.

  • very clean...........nice job!

  • all of them look extremely talented and hardworking and the teacher seems very experienced!Bravo!

  • you all look so pretty. : )

  • have ju ever noticed dat most coaches in a sport are usually unfit and cant do have da stuff there trying to teach pple??? and dat goes da same for gym teaches there usually fat...

  • Usually, coaches are athletes who have gone through the whole process and who aren't in their prime anymore. If they were, they wouldn't be coaching, they'd be training and performing themselves.

  • yea caus they have been threw the training and they just got older and they cant b professional anymore so the next step is teaching

  • very nice, and what is the music is makan? what track?

  • This is creepy as all get out.

  • Totally! lol

  • wish i had dere figures and could do my ballet as good mayb 1 dai :D lol x

  • The music is different, but OMG I LOVE HOW THEY DANCE, there pointe shoes are so beautiful :)

  • Ohh my god, please check your pulgar finger when you take the barre girls... ;o)

  • where is the cinevox

  • yes they're really good.

we're doing the same things en pointe. but they prolly are a corp de ballet. they all look really elegant.

  • very coool!! the music fit the mood completely!

but can i ask what level this class is? cuzz my class is doing much more advanced things than this and we're only like 12, 13 years old.

  • you might be doing more advanced things but you don't really notice your mistakes until you watch youreslf/taped and reviewed your class. we had to do that and it was horrific but helped us fix A LOT of things!

  • They were en pointe, you could be doing more advanced steps but maybe not en pointe?

They looked pretty neat, probably corp de ballets?

  • Juest because you *can* doesn't mean you *should.* If your placement is off, and you don't have a grounding in these 'simple' techniques, you're probably not doing it right.

  • Very interesting, I like it. :)

  • MORE Cinevox, puhleese!

  • iiiiiiiii haaaaaaaaaaa d luuuuuuuuuuuuuure gseeeeeeeeeeeehhhh!!

    uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
