Mr. Park, you are an inspiration to me, I always listen to your recordings for practice, thank you! I (hopefully) will be attempting to master hunters moon this year!!!
Just wanted to say thank you for this recording. I'm playing this piece for a Winter Recital and for Solo and Ensemble and I really learned a lot from listening to you. So thank you. You are an excellant horn player and very enjoyable to listen too.
Could you possibly send me the sheet music for this or tell me where you found it? I'd love to take a look at it.. Its an Amazing piece. My email is solanablantz@yahoo.com. Please and thank you :)
How do you play the stopped G with T12? It always seems to play G# instead. Thank you :) I'm playing this for my solo this year, thanks to your awesome video.
@MelloSymantha Different ebouchre can result in different tones, also the french horn is possibly the greatest instrument when it comes to alternate fingerings. Even more so when it's stopped, because you can bend the pitch up or down.
Mr. Park, you are an inspiration to me! I always come to your videos whenever I'm working on a solo, and they always help me! Keep on making videos, because it is guys like you who I'm thankful that play the French Horn! You rock!
I played trumpet for... I guess around 5 or 6 years. since half a year or what I stopped with trumpet and started with bes/f horn. yesterday I had to give my borrowed horn back and got my brand new damned own one!!! <33 I really liked trumpet and I like horn way better. hope I get as good as you one day!!
I love this piece. I played it in the 7th grade for a ratings festival. I got superior(that's the highest you can get). I started playing horn in the 6th grade.
hello! I'm a self-taught hornist. I've been playing for three years, and I have an important audition coming up. do you have any suggestions for a piece?
@shmeepfox consider playing morsieu de concert, for french horn in F. I played it my sophomore year, and it was fantastic. hope the audition goes well!
@videowizdude I've been playing horn for 4 years and it takes a huge ammount of work to get a good sound. Really focus on what you're playing, even if it's just one note. Muscle memory will also start to come to you and it'll get easier. The horn is one of the hardest instruments to play, but you just have to keep going and it'll get there. Good luck!! (:
Thank you so much for putting this video up, i Played this peice for a district solo actually im doing it for state in a few weeks also, but this has been such a massive help in my learing of this peice.
I must say, you are phenomenal at playing the French Horn! I've played Trumpet since I was in 5th grade (I'm a Junior now) and my Sophomore year I decided to switch to the Mellophone (upon recommendation from my director) for marching band, and now I like it more than Trumpet. This video makes me want to play it again.
Hey you did an awesome job and i'm gonna rate this video five stars. And if you want you want you to make a super mario theme song: Now, I play the tenor saxophone, so if you want to try to find sheet music or if you can do it by using your ear that would be nice too. But do you teach just the horn or a whole band? GO TENOR SAXOPHONES AND FRENCH HORNS. Also, do you know how to play a tenor saxophone? If you do, play some songs on it and post them if you want to. Thanks!
any tips on how to practice good stopped horn?? I can never quite get the seal all the way with my hand. It doesn't quite have that buzz that you can get from using a mute. I don't want to have to be constantly relying on a mute for a good loud stopped sound
do you have sheet music? I really like this piece..or do you have anything you would would recomend that will showcase talent in a small amout of time? im doing a scholarship program and I only have about two minutes
this is great! im hoping to start playing the french horn again, i did in 5th-7th but quit. im going into my 10th year and i really need to get back into the swing, haha. i cant slur or really play well, but im trying my best. also, i cant hit the higher notes with out it sounding like some farting noise!
sorry for the pointless ramble, but youre very good. i only hope to play as well as you one day. thanks for the video.
i love this solo, thank you for demonstrating a fantastic way to play this piece of music, I remember playing this for state solo and ensemble two years ago as a sophomore, its a really fun piece to play, especially near the end when the music sounds like laughter at around 5:13. i miss playing french horn
@ohsteacher that nice of you starting at the trumpet, they said start at the trumpet first before you go french horn, so that you can reach high notes easily
ive been playing for 3 years and i really liked this music so for my birthday my parents orderd it for me.... its going to be alot of work... oh and im in a band at hendersonville high school and we are going to chicago next thusday to play against the top 12 bands in the nation.. im excited
Probably the same reason that people who aren't into turbocharged engines don't off hand know what an automatic compensating wastegate is on a turbocharged airplane. Why would the general public know such a thing? Why would the general public know what the heck a "stopped horn" is, when many don't know a french horn from a cornet. You get the idea ;)
Im currently a sophmore in high school and im working on "Concertpiece" by Camille Saint-Saens.
If you know anything of the song some hints would be appreciated. Its a fun song for me because last solo i worked on was "Concert Rondo" by Mozart and that somewhat bored me after awhile.
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! I am playing this piece today for my Grade 8 french horn exam and it's been so good to listen to you play this. You have such a good high and low register, i'm afraid i'm stuck with a good high and terrible low, that Pedal G is awful for me but you make it all sound so easy!!!!! And i love the Legato section you have such a lovely tone.
You are an amazing french horn player!! My band director told us to find a good musician with good tone and articulations to try and imitate and use as an inspiration, and you're definitely mine!! You have a very clear, clean tone and it sounds really nice. :)

I am the only horn player in a school of more than 2000 students and this is an extremely hard instrument. I have been playing for about 7 months and i was wondering if you can give me some tips to play. And amazing playing i hope i'm as good as you someday.
Yea, its a G stopped, meshed into an unstopped A. try the fingering T0, then ust move your hand out of the way. if you use air to accent the note just as you are moving your hand, it should produce the blend quite nicely.
I don't send out copies of music that are copyrighted. It's easy to go on line and buy the music, and it doesn't cost much. If you play horn and would like a practice recording of the accompaniment to any of my posted solos, let me know and I can send you an mp3 file.
