THE Premier League and the FA are always at loggerheads. Club against country. England need a single governing body so that all the clubs serve the England team. .
It doesn't help when the likes of Arsenal and other teams fill up their youth system with players from overseas.
Because of the instant success required in the Premier League young players are not given the chance to develop. The top clubs do not bring kids through like they used to. The cheap foreign import is killing the game.
Absolutely spot on. I've been involved in youth football for ten years and I'm sick of it. We shouldn't let any child under 13 years old get involved in a competitive league, they should just concentrate on friendlies and skills. Instead, the coaches and parents become obsessed with winning a meaningless league, applauding kids who can launch it twenty yards.
Hit the nail on the head CJ, problem with the beautiful game is it has been hijacked by people only concerned in making money. The only bodies important to FIFA, UEFA, Premier League FA etc are the massive corporate companies who scratch each others backs. Sad days, bring the game back to the PEOPLE and yes our kids. Stop councils charging a fortune for pitches which because of cut backs suffer in their upkeep, eg no changing facilities, grass being left uncut etc.
This guy is a legend! He needs to be the Chairman or Cheif Executive of the FA. He is much more passionate about the English game and he isn't even English. Fair play to ya mate.
England desperatly need the national academy. Some teams are producing good young English talent (Man City, Villa, Arsenal, Boro, Everton, Palace, Leeds etc.
But some just seem to be full of foreign kids. This is espeicially true of Liverpool and Chelsea.
If I was a kid in Liverpool, there is no way I would go to the Liverpool academy. Ditto Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle.
It's not quite as doom and gloom as this, but there are still not the no of players there should be coming thru.
Lack of management, rubbish at the top, no focus of development at grassroots level (only the best get a look in, the best as a kid is not necessarily the best as an adult vis a vis Zidane).
Why is it then that we have countless boring idiots on the TV like Shearer, Lawrenson, Dixon, Peacock, etc. and here`s a guy seldom seen on TV who talks more sense in a few moments than any of the others said in their lifetimes.
damn right. there are millions of people pissing themselves at England. We will be in big trouble for years and years to come unless the FA is completely gutted of all the overpaid, underworked arseholes that are destroying the future of English football.

If everyone in the game was as honest as this, the problem would be solved in five years.
