  • Even playing a man wearing an eye patch. Illuminati all seeing eye :P

  • This whole planet is Rigged

  • He won't go for baseball for the win but he'll do it for a block. Yeah. And yep it was all coached. Both men were in the military but only one wore the uniform. Not an accident

  • I found the airdate, by way of Google's news archives -- April 3, 1958.

  • Who played the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz? "I just read that in the Army Times it was Bert Lehr", What the heck is up with that!!! Not much going on in Korea so I decided to go to the page that had Wizard of Oz facts and figures on it in the Army Times.

  • @m1sterhockey Its Lahr not Lehr hon. : )

  • Bassoon = woodwinds / Tambourine = percussion / English horn (a larger version of an oboe) = woodwinds. [A French horn is in the brass family.]

So the contestant with the eyepatch was right.

  • The military serviceman actually got one part of the question on Musical instruments wrong, but Mr.Jackson gave him credit for being correct. It obvious that this show was rigged..

  • You guys have got to see the who wants to be a millionaire in England...where the guy was cheating with another guy in the audience...it's worth watching!!!

  • That one-eyed guy does some serious eye-rolling

  • I have a Win Elliot episode that actually makes this episode seem more exciting.

  • Gee a Western Michigan University figure helping to rig a game show. Just one more reason Western Michigan is the worst university in Michigan. No one from Central Michigan University would ever do something like that. Losers, Cheats, and Air Heads go to WMU, but real winners go to Central Michigan University. FIRE UP CHIPS!!!

  • What were these dipwads told? Not to miss a single answer

  • was there a bonus game

  • No bonus game for the winner in the original "Tic Tac Dough"...he goes on to face a new challenger.

  • It amazes me how people watching at home didn't realize something was amiss when the Captain kept refusing to go to a box that would give him a win. Read the book "Prime Times And Misdemeanors" and you'll find out how this match ended. O'Rourke finally took the dive and Dowd went on a run as champ and he was supposed to get in a series of ties to reduce his winnings before he'd be knocked off but he pulled a fast one and took a dive sooner to preserve more of his winnings.

  • Is this from the nighttime version?

  • Russ Troupe, world's biggest fabricator

  • cheat n' spy, look at em' cry! wo ho ho ho!

  • the guy with the eye patch is making me really wonder whats up its like he is sweating but not really .

  • Love the set here, and that trilon effect when the board changes.

  • Jay Jackson, a commercial spokesman and TV personality who also played fictional game show host Herb Norris on the Jackie Gleason "Honeymooners" episode in which Ralph Kramden was a contestant on "The $99,000 Answer", was the host for this NBC primetime version of "Tic Tac Dough" [Jack Barry hosted the daytime version]. Introducing the contestants was NBC-New York staff announcer Bill McCord.

  • If only there was some way we could find the episode with the winner being declared...

  • Also, note the clearly-bad "strategic" moves by the contestants. Obviously this is rigged, but in normal circumstances you would best go for a win when you can -

Unless, of course, the category in that slot is one the opponent has shown good knowledge in.

And another copy without its opening and commercials - do those portions even exist?

  • They don't exist, although I WOULD like to see an open to this.

Obviously Michael doesn't like baseball; but the first time it was some other category for the win (not the brightest marine captain, i guess, despite how much money he won).

  • "the bible" u wont see a category like that nowadays

  • You see it on jeopardy often

  • @Alepietra

Jeopardy always has the Bible as a category.

  • Notice the pauses and the hesitations the soldier keeps making. Contestants were coached in how to act like they hadn't been told the answers in advance. This guy is oozing sincerity. It's funny when you think that during this point in the 50s the most popular shows were either rigged quiz shows or pro-wrestling.

  • And now pro-wrestling is "sports entertainment" - or at least the WWE. Ironic, isn't it?

  • @drmorose Does it remind you at all, of the financial bailout hearings before Congress?

  • @drmorose He's a good actor. Better than Stemple or Van Doren. Those guys hammed it up too much. The eye-patch dude is awful. Every answer pains him as though passing a kidney stone.

  • @drmorose I confirmed it on the very first pick; the champ avoided the "Pot Luck" category which would have given him the game.
