  • I have a German built in 1944. And I want to put the sight did not appreciate the piece .. Do Atsaadona Please I know the way to set the base for sight .. Knowing that the power of sight 10 times .. More than 1300 meters

  • Just found one in mom-in-laws basement from her dad in the war. Any suggestion on what to do with rust? and other things I should know about?

  • i was being stupid with my kar98k and forgot to turn the safety into the upright position and took it out. so it unloaded and its stuck. any siggestions?

  • thanks

  • This video helped alot. I just bought my mauser yesterday but the store clerks didn't show me how to take it apart. I was following all the way except for removing the extractor, i couldn't get the "lift and turn counter clockwise" part, it wouldn't lift

  • I HAVE A MAUSER STAMPED 42 with all original numbers and authintick bird over circle nazi logo but under the one serial number it has a small "f" what dose that mean?

  • You sound like you need a big beard! Good video

  • Beautiful rifle.

  • Great review, just wish the camera was closer.

  • @1joshjosh1 this. apart from that, great video :]

  • im hoping to get a k98 with SS death skull symbol along with authentic ammo pouches:)

  • @saltydog78

Pour hot, boiling water down the bore, chamber end, before beginning cleaning. Or, use Windex.

  • erieordnancejim,

How do I get rid of the what seems like rust or corrosion in the barrel where the grooves are? I clean my rifle immediately after I shoot every-time, but there seems to be a little rust in the bore. I guess I should expect that when shooting corrosive ammo.

  • you can load a single bullet in right? cause when i try to it wont close properly

  • @bulldogrj5020 you need to stick the single round in the magazine well for the bolt face to pick it up - unlike most bolt actions were you can just drop in single rounds straight into the chamber.... this is my only major gripe about the mausers design..... watch closely and slowly how your bolt face picks up the rounds from the magazine and youll understand

  • Erieordnancejim, that was a great video!

But do you know how the get the black paint off the metal parts on the rifle?

I want my Mauser m98 to be more like metal than black. I've got two Mausers from the war and I want one of them to look like a more silver than the other, do you know how? :)

    Thank you!

  • good vid. bolt and muzzle protectors arent completely necessary , just make shure you are carfull and clean from the rear so you are not to mess up the crown. if you are using surplus ammo, it may be corrosive, and clean accordingly.

  • I sure could use some help getting a sight hood on my rifle. Can anybody help me?

  • @TheCoalescent Hello friend, I had the same issue. They are a pain in the rear! First, get the sight hood from wherever you are getting it. Second, go to the auto parts store and get "Snap Ring Pliers." Basically they are the reverse of scissors, you squeeze and they open - so you put them inside the hood, squeeze and put the hood inside the channels on the sides of the front sight. Be careful when using any tools around a gun's finish. You don't want to scratch anything.

    SNAP RING PLIERS

  • you should of had the camera closer for that we could see it even better

  • Excellent video. Need a closer view of the bolt disassembly though.

  • Need a closer view!!! can not see well..did u think so?

  • thank for the video. i got the same mauser to, its help me alots to disassemble

  • guns are bad

  • @thehotstuff818 Guns aren't bad, bad people who shoot the guns are bad.

  • @thehotstuff818 liberals are bad

  • nice vid. man

  • the first position is the safety the third position is actually the bolt lock that is why the bolt is locked

  • Hey mate very nice video. I didnt know you could further strip the bolt and remove the bolt lock spring, nice.

  • I have an FN Belgian/colombian mauser, in 30-06 stamped R.Famage 1952, does it dissassemble the same way?

  • @LittleMaggot50 Yes it should.

  • This rifle has been produced in WW II ?

  • All the tools you need are on the gun, you've gotta love that German efficiency.

  • so since its 7.92 would a .30 caliber bore brush do the trick or would you need to have it be an exact fit?

  • Excellent video. Could you post one on the arisaka type 99 if its not too much trouble? I picked one up and it desperately needs to be cleaned :)

  • I love this rifle with all my heart. It will do any task you may require of it with outstanding versatility, reliability, acuracy, and all-out ruggedness. Outside of a reliable 12ga shotgun this is my 2nd choice for the only firearm I would own if I could only have 1 to survive with.

  • (a german one made in 1916, :) you sell the other one and put lock in walnut :) ?

  • thanks for posting-very interesting.

  • snipeman7klw i have no idea i bought one at a gun store and tried to put it on with every thing i had and i got it on....its on there but not really the right way im gonna take it to the gun smith because i give up

  • Have a german Mauser k98k I love that gun I don't know how to put on the sight hood any one know?

  • love my kar98, one of the most amazing bolt actions made

  • @MrSirkilroy it is the best im my mind, especially next to all my american bolt actions that just let me down...lol

  • @MrSirkilroy it is the best im my mind, especially next to all my american bolt actions that just let me down...lol

  • @MrSirkilroy where did you buy it?

  • i now have 2 mausers(a german one made in 1916, and a yugoslavian one made in 1948)and no, they're not for sale.

  • i just got mine tonight it was love at first sight

  • I love my K98

  • Is that a SPAS-12 in the bacground?

    Lucky son of a.......

  • Can you pleaseee post a video about cleaning the bolt. A more in depth video on how to clean it. My bolt looks grimy and I have no idea on how to clean it.

  • if its a russian capture its packed with cosmoline? which is a type of preservative grease. the best way is with gasoline or karosine and a big old paint brush in a bucket. just let it soak and start brushing. messy job but it will clean it up...oil after. -Ed

  • I love my K98

  • good for hunting? 8mm? buck?

  • well yeah i guess. the 7.92x57mm will knock em down for sure

  • I cannot get my 98K into "extreme safe" position. I have taken the rifle down completely, cleaned and assembled and still cannot get it to work. Any ideas?

  • these vid help so much

  • Very good vid! 5 Stars

  • after i shoot my kar98 for a while the bolt becomes real tight. when i first start shooting it is real smooth and easy to cycle. i cleaned it and disassembled the bolt and cleaned and oiled it but its still stiff after 50 rounds or so.

  • Lacquer coated ammo?

  • no it was all brass.

  • maybe it expands a little bit because of the heat?

  • No because my Mosin Nagant does not have that problem. I think it is grease called cosmoline in the bolt body itself. That makes it stick and is really hard to clean out.

  • Put up a K-98 Mauser sling installation.

  • its really easy to do when have the sling, i just put mine on without any hassle

  • OK the beginning is a waist of time

  • thanks mate, very helpfull.

  • Very good! According to rule!

    Sehr gut! Nach Vorschrift!

  • ja!

  • Thanks for K98 cleaning and disassembly video, it helped me clean my grandfathers old WW2 Mauser.

  • @OldK98 why does your grandpa have a German-made gun?

  • How could I get a copy of this video. thanks
