The issue with this is that it may work as a quick fix but at the same time by overheating your xbox, you are permanently damaging many necessary components destroying it. The only real way of fixing it yourself is by replacing the thermal compound and some of the internal screws. I recently bought a kit for around $10 off of amazon.

This works. Did it once to temp fix an E74. Worked afterwards but couldn't use it anymore after that since I had to send it in the next morning. Overheating isn't the smartest thing to do in this situation unless you're still covered by a warranty, in which case it won't matter if you damage your console anymore by doing so because Microsoft will fix it/ send you a refurb. All in all a good method for a quick, temporary fix for E74 or RROD.

I only have 1 red ring of death and I use QTIP's instead of pipe cleaner it stops the fans but my xbox doesn't get hot it gets warm then it turns off while the 1 light becomes 2 then my power cord goes from green to orange...

@RoxyChene16 About a week for me. And then you'll have to do it again. There's a permanent fix that requires you to open your xbox (void warranty), and a bunch of other steps including removing and applying new Thermal Compound. Would you guys want a vid on that?

@JanJan17xD Is this a hypothetical question or did this happen? Because all you're doing is holding it from moving. You aren't actually jamming them. So as soon as you pull out the pipe cleaner it should automatically start again. If it doesn't, pull the plug and turn it back on again.
