He was more than the pretty face that made women and gay men swoon when he was a young man. The first jazz CD I ever listened to was a Chet Baker CD. Thanks for posting.

He was a natural born gifted genius musician lived only for music & didn't care about anything else. That's the reason he was a drug addict. It gave him the energy stamina he need to create. He took Baudelaire's advise - 'One should always be drunk' - with wine, poetry, virtue or music.' Chet Got Drunk on music and this was his real addiction & gift to at least a part of mankind.
