So many free-spirited, intelectually attuned and wise individuals have had very dark pasts, and yet developed into the most influencial people in the history of human kind...Billy is living proof.
or has he always been a gentleman and just plays an ARSE as a comedian who must say FUCK every 35 seconds ? in any case It is a dreadful thing to witness his maturity here and know he could have been far more articulate 35 years ago but chose to just FUCK IT
@rentatrip1 - have you noticed he's not being a comedian here?
And an arse of a comedian? He's funny. He's articulate and yes, he's offensive but only if your head is stuck so far up your own arse that you can't see the funny side.
Plus, saying fuck is a release. It's a fuckin' good thing.
Plus. Irony. You say fuck. Three times. You thought someone ranting about Billy's maturity wouldn't be so hypocritical.
@laudidarkmist - Pardon my interest , I dearly love the man, but seek to discover why he sent 25 years bellowing fuck every other word then when he sits with his wife he is a saintly Choir Boy ? the riddle ? I do not condemn the use of the word FUCK, fuck no , but merely bring up the question as to why he consciously eliminates that word from his vocabulary here .... NOT IRONY , rather Intelligent comment made by a viewer Now the question , who left you in charge of correct answers?
Because (to steal a line from Tommy Tiernan) there is a huge brick wall in the English language that restricts the spirit of the Irish (or Scottish in Connolly's case) and the word 'fuck' is his chisel.
thank you Billy for being so open, it really is touching...I just hope what you have done here will do some good and not make you feel naked...the majority of people listening to this will feel nothing but love for you :-) x
I just love the interaction between these two, they're so clearly made for each other. Even the way she says "well you and brussel sprouts have a history", like she finds every little thing about him fascinating. Which I totally understand, he's a truly fascinating man. Billy forever!!
I knew, but he actually tried to get along with his father thereafter - which is extremely strange. I don't know if this means his father was a peadophile or wether he overzealously punished billy perhaps?
@cockingasnook ---Not really. If you were molested or abused you'd probably see it. The abused try to capture the love of the abuser (to oversimplify it) and also to appease them. It's a very convoluted relationship.
I'm going to see him for the first time in October, can't wait. Could honestly listen to him reading the ingredients on a packet and it would still be fascinating
@wonderbhoy1967 He's fantastic to see live. Later that night, you'll barely remember a word he said but you'll have cried with laughter and love the whole time.
His father molested him as a child. It's in pamela's book on him. He only made that public a few years ago. It makes watching his sketches about his father have a different ring to them once you know.
I think people on here should listen to Billy about 'not getting it'. So many comments on youtube are just "This is shit", or "Wasted 3min of my life".
its funny how when he tells these storys about his upbringing you get a lump in your throat and then he snaps you out of it with a 1 liner...love him so much
Billy the most honsest man on the planet he tells it how it is, thanks Bill for the laughter. How many of us need a gud laugh out there in the present shit that we are in and Bill is just the lad to give you those fiew mins to forget about the everyday probs you might have. Anyone agree?
They seem to have a lot of fun together... That's so nice...

Just another angry, drunken and sad Scotsman. If he wasn't well-known you wouldn't give him the time of day. Nothin to see here folks!

That last remark is the saddest. Motherlove seems so obvious, but it clearly isn't.

That's quite a generalisation lilyslimit.
Some abused people take guns to their workplaces and shoot their co-workers and former friends, before turning the gun on themselves.

@cockingasnook His father was a war veteran. That need only speak for itself.
GoddyofWar 1 year ago
He admits he is ruthless with himself, by admiting his own setbacks and sufferings.
He mentions his dislike for brusseI sprouts, I didn't know until recently, that his aunts would punch his nose til his he ate his brussel sprouts :(

indeed it does....i always thought its like the usual scottish family, where you just get an educational thrashing
MilitantOldLady 2 years ago
a few english families like that too. Actually they're all over the place.

Or the usual Indian family. When it comes to educational trashing we have a monopoly.

Billy Connolly is not only a very funny man but his musings are often very profound - probably due to his amazing sense of introspection.
