Nice fish, I hate to be that guy though to point fingers but it kinda hurts to see a catch and release bow fishing. I myself have spearfished and released a while ago but in all honesty it just doesnt feel all that right anymore- I now only spearfish to eat!...I know rod & reel isnt all that much friendlier-it just seems a bit less devastating ya know?
I find that this "rednecks" fishing technique is similar to the native peoples of many river basin cultures. The hook in the mouth is even more inhumane than a quick death by spear, btw. Grass carp most certainly CAN reproduce, they usually spawn in cooler faster moving water with a good current. The eggs must be kept off the bottom for a set period of time or they die, so they need swift current.
The only Grass Carp that cant reproduce are the sterile grassies introduced into lakes to cut back vegetation without causing a problem down the road. Grassies are invasive, kill em all!

Then the carp will lay their eggs in the fish beds that have already been made. Plus they grass flats that native species use as cover! they all need to go!

My preferred method of dealing with carp is shoot and release! Releasing carp often bring in gar - which is also on the hitlist - or shitlist, whichever u prefer. If carp are not a problem where u are, then u are blessed. However, they cause nothing but the destruction of decent gamefish here and must be controlled.

Do you idiots really think a grass carp can't reproduce? LOL I sometimes worry about people. Grass carp most certainly CAN reproduce, they usually spawn in cooler faster moving water with a good current. The eggs must be kept off the bottom for a set period of time or they die, so they need swift current.
The only Grass Carp that cant reproduce are the sterile grassies introduced into lakes to cut back vegetation without causing a problem down the road. Grassies are invasive, kill em all!
