The Devils are gonna have to start rebuilding soon (within the next year or so) because they're just delaying the inevitable. Brodeur can't lead the team to a Cup anymore, they don't have the defense they once had with Stevens, Rafalski, Nieds, etc...and a lot of their players are getting old. The Devils also need to abandon their low-scoring offense and defensive-minded mentality and come up with a system that succeeds in the new NHL(like what Pittsburgh has).

@Camps2630: I agree with you that the Pens struck gold in Crosby, Malkin, and Staal. They also had the ability to draft Fleury and Whitney (gone), but that's the path they chose. They weren't trying to make the playoffs in those years...it was planned suckage. As for not relying on Brodeur, than how come he plays 70+ games every year and the Devils haven't had a legitimate backup for him to lighten his workload? A-train is a good defenseman, but he's not a no.1 D-man. We'll see...

@Crawford1987 because Brodeur doesnt get tired as much as you see other goalie, now we have Hedberg who will play 15-20games and johnny mac said we willl rest brodeur more, i think hedberg is a great backup...as for A-Train I just want to see him lay tons of hits out...oh and now we just resigned (again), Kovy, so that will help

Johnny mac said in the kovy interview that he "will be a much more aggressive, offensive team"..i dont blame him, he have tons of talen (kovy, elias, parise, zajac ect)

@Camps2630: With Kovalchuk, the Devils will need to become more offensive-minded, of course. A player like Kovy needs to be in a system that is aggressive and is in constant puck pursuit. But we'll see...this isn't the first time the Devils have tried to become more aggressive and less stay-at-home. Kovalchuk and Parise are excellent players and will thrive under that kind of system, and Zajac is one of the most underrated forwards in the NHL, but Elias hasn't been the same since pre-lockout.
