I used to listen to the more alternative music, made by people who consider themselves more interesting/smart than the mainstream pop musicians. After a while i found them boring and exchanged them for the popular music: brainless lyrics/predictable harmonies, but good voices and good performances. Didn't take long before it became boring and I was wondering if there was any happy medium between interesting music and great performers. Then I discovered jazz - and above all, Ella. End of story.
