@18kanw If this doesn't work for you, go to Start and restart your comp. While it's restarting, repeatedly hit F8. There should be an option that says to use "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" use down arrow and enter to select that option. When it gets to the log in screen, log on as administrator (there should be no password). Your entire screen should be command prompt now. Then do the steps in this video, and you should be set. That's how it worked on my comp anyways. Hope it helps :)

you will get a "system error 5" in Vista (it doesn't work) if you try it in Windows XP on a guest account, it won't work either, because you don't have sufficient access rights. by default when you set up your user account it is an admin account.

Windows+R key or locate the cmd.exe in C:\Windows\System32\ or bring your own. They may have a policy in effect too though.

And yes, you need administrator privileges to do this, which if you have that, it's just as easy to do a few clicks.

It's merely the command-line method of changing a local account instead of using the GUI.

This is no password hack, as you must have local admin privs to pull this off.

If you have local admin privs, you can use the GUI MMC/ Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management : Users and Groups, Reset Password, anyways.
