  • 150 years this July since Abe signed your charter a lot has happened in 150 years. Keep up the good work UP you guys rock my world literary keep Building America. if Abe were here today he would have been proud of all you guys did in 150 years from laying your tracks to Ogden to buying #844 you do what you guys do best drive your trains though Idaho and build our country.

  • Trade was a huge motivator. Union Pacific's first President was William B. Ogden, who believed like Lincoln, that trade could advance markedly with the Transcontinental Railroad. Butler's experience with the first Railroad in Chicago, proved this point. As Chicago's first Mayor, Butler knew what helped the City become a major distribution point for goods, transportation. His Galena and Chicago Union Railway proved the naysayers wrong and created a whole new trade from the interior.
