  • wait how did you make the turntable work with that software?

  • I'm not understanding the delay discussion. You can play a real analog instrument, like a guitar, with no discernible delay by using an interface and ASIO, so how exactly is this different?

Im not interested in performing...what I am interested in is finding a way to use a MIDI controller to get authentic scratches, a la 90s hip hop, Primo type shit, where a vocal file is used as the scratch track over a beat. For recording. I don't care if it's not feasible in a live setting. Is this possible?

  • esta bn culero tu video

  • :-o

  • Game, loose the computer, get some real wax and learn your technique.

It's near impossible to work with that much delay.

after you get a better feel for it, then maybe get a Rane Serato

I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but I have over 20 years on the tables.

  • I'm a complete noob to this, so I gotta ask what mixer you are using. I'm thinking about having a similar set -up to this to have i my dorm room.

    Thanks

  • Hey, im gonna buy an x session pro. can you tell me if the cross fader is responsive.

    thnx :)

  • @vicepc8

no, its not. I mean, you can't use it to make sharp cuts and real scratching. It's really good gear for its price, but the xfader is not the best thing it has

  • omg wacksauce!!!! the fader is not fast enough thus delay and you pausing @ 0:13 even then nothing beats the real thing.. Vinyl and an oldschool mixer. All these new dj products suck balls. I have yet to find a dj mixer that can replace an analog one... Sad for this day and age

  • @elewsive That's bullshit lol, any product that can give DJ users the real vinyl feel like Serato and Mixxx can (the latter being improved on as we speak) then it's BETTER than the real thing! Because it IS the real thing!

  • @FeeLtheHertZ @FeeLtheHertZ Id like to see you do a full review on a product thats the latter. Ive always had vinyl and seeing companies trying and failing to beat vinyl. If you can demonstrate something that's better than vinyl as far as response time and action goes im all ears. Like I said till this day I havent seen one review to wow me out of my seat. And I am NEVER going to SPEND 3,000 USD on a Vinyl Replacement. Till then I dont see the oldschool dj's tossing their records out.

  • @elewsive Then check out Serato - $600 tops and is identical to Vinyl that allows one to not wear out their records, have an infinite library and essentially turn any song into an LP, yeah dude...I think you're seriously just confused here mate, why would you even say that? That makes no sense, and there's a shit ton of reviews - even Q-Bert - saying that Serato and Traktor Scratch are nay identical to using vinyl - because it IS vinyl. And no conceivable latency at all, plus better sound.

  • @elewsive Better sound meaning no worn out records etc. Serato and Traktor basically just expand upon using real vinyl and allow for an even broader working tool set, but even for just legitimate two decks and vinyl setup, Serato is that and just if that that's all you care for, but more if you want.

  • you need to work on your scratching.

  • FRIEND A QUESTION YOUR YOU HAVE YOUR TORNAMESA USB AND CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE PC OR HAVE THE AUDIO INTERFACE SERATO OR ONLY WITH SERATO's VINYL YOU CAN WORK PLEASE IT ANSWERS I NEED THIS INFORMATION

  • @cocolodjcuenca We've tested Mixxx with regular USB audio interfaces. As long as the Tornamesa USB audio interface has a stereo line-in jack, it should work.

  • @GameGod0 how can u connect the turntable using usb..what item?? sorry dude im so noob about this stuff can u send me a link ??? or what its look like.. cause its awesome dude ..man ur good..

  • the only thing i do understand about DJing -i mean , this- is that you're playing amen brother .

    And it's cool .

  • so do you like the x-fader on the xsession pro? is it pretty loose?

  • @UglyToontown Yeah, it's pretty loose. It's not quite optical-fader loose, but it's workable.

  • Hey man nice scratching and everything. I have the same program but i dont have all these devices you have. Do you think its possible to scratch with out all this because i rally dont have the money. All i have is a keyboard and mouse to work with. Please help me asap

  • Wait... this is open source! So i should be able to port it to my casio wristwatch!

  • Can you school me a bit on the interface requirements for control vinyl? Is a L+R inputs enough?

  • what turntable do u need to have

  • @austin09powers I was using a Stanton T.80 in this video, but I think it has been discontinued. The current equivalent is the Stanton T.92 USB, I think.

  • dude how in gods name did you set this up??! is that a usb turntable? I have a hercules steel and want to use it as a mixer with dual turntables, what soundcard would I need?? or should I just get two usb turntables?

  • @poppinkino Yeah, just two USB soundcards would work...

  • How do you make the mod on the cross fader

  • worst scratching ever.

  • DUDE, your fucking sick, NIICE!!!

  • @Annoying1234567 i take it you're being sarcastic.

  • @thesimpletonshow I might, or I might not be......some things that we will never know

  • You are totally ready for to learn some technics and rane equipment kid

  • is this a usb turntable?

  • Hey dude!! ...............3 questions

1- can I use TORQ vinyls with mixxx?

2- does it work with my external usb soundcard?

3- Am I able to use my custom midi controller and map different parameters of this soft?

    Thanks!

  • @snorkman88

    1. i do not think torq vinyls works with this, but spend 20 bucks and get the serato V2 vinyls, they work the best.

    2. Mixxx works with almost all usb soundcards, its pretty universal.

    3. Yes, u can use your own midi controller and map it yourself right in the preferences menu.

if u want a full list of features got to the website

  • please oh please tell me how this is all hooked up. I have the m-audio x sessions and a mac i want a turntable, but i am confused of how you hooked this up. please make a vid or tell me what i need.

  • yeah how the heck does this work? Id much rather buy a setup like this than spend 600 on serato.... FUCCCKKKK thattttttt

  • does the turntable have to be usb? and just have a midi compatible mixer?

  • how did you connect all of that together please make a video

  • do u need more than a turntable a x session an a serato vinyl?to scratch?

  • do u need more than a turntable and x sesion pro?

  • haha so truee sorry gamegod0 stick to gaming

  • Comment removed

  • It's working with timecode vinyl.

  • considering your using a cheap midi controller. good job

  • this is genious!!

  • Someone tell me which is better, Mixxx or XWax?

  • @steeltownbrown52 Xwax is great if you just want a dedicated vinyl control system and you're running Linux. If you want a more advanced library, BPM detection, and MIDI controller support, then you'll probably want to stick with Mixxx. Each have their own strengths and weaknesses, so just download both and try them! They're free!

  • i used to like that song

  • which turntable are you using?

  • @lodman97

    i think it's a stanton t 60

  • it's so bad use the midi controller for the scratch

  • not so good scratches, sorry

  • @DobriReperi I gotta agree with Dobri, but thanks for the demo.

  • if i have only phono out can i connect turtable to laptop and how?

    pls help me

excluding serato, schratch, mix vibes, reloop spin and others!

  • GameGod... more like DJGod!

  • I am have two numark tables, a numark mixer, and an m-audio fast track ultra interface. I have serato control vinyls but when i scratch it only advances the track, it never reverses. do you think you could help?

  • ground the appliances ?

remove all eq from the serato track?

    level it to 0 db?

  • try switching your left and right cables. Mixxx needs an 'invert' button. (although, this is usually the solution to a tracking running only backwards..)

  • Usually I can hear the serato tone WITH the song loaded into mix and playing. Any advice on how to nix this problem?

  • how much is the turntable???

  • i am tryin to control the software with my cdjs jog wheel, loop functions etc. but i can only control my sound fucntions for some reason. i am using RCA cables to 1/4 Cable that goes into my headphone jack ..what do i need to get to transfer the song to my tables so i can control the whole thing? hope that was not to confusing

  • Is MIXXX stable enough to use live??

  • practice practice practice.....!

  • I use Mixxx on a Macbook as well. What's your sound card/sound interface? I'm only using the line in of the laptop with a Serato record and having problems. For example, right when the track starts the marker jumps to the beginning of the waveform, making a stuttering sound. It doesn't happen when I drop the needle in the middle of a track, though.

  • Hey dude, I don't think you are actually scratching the track sounds that are playing. A few times you lift your fingers and you still hear voice breaks & scratches from an original mp3 computer remix. You might have 2 or 3 seconds of your actual attempt at scratching. Prove me wrong, but I usually have a keen eye for this stuff. DJ JamOnIt

  • You' ve got a keen ear, but I really am scratching the whole time. The only confusing bit is at the end (about 0:45 into it) where I scratch with a "break" sample that also happens to be used in the Breaker Beats song I'm scratching with. Listen to the original Freestylers song, and you'll be convinced.

  • great!!

  • this is so sick i want one butt i cant offord it lol

  • Mixxx is totally free. If you have a turntable and can afford a $15 USD Serato vinyl, then you can have vinyl control.

  • @GameGod0

    Can you use any turntable?

Or does it need an usb port or something like that?

    thanks ^^

  • wow I was thinking of doing that.. but don't you need a scratch crossfader?

  • Mixxx has cross-fader curve control built into it. It can turn your X-Session Pro's crossfader into a scratch fader (and that's what I used in the video). :)

  • Is it possible to use two turntable and one traditional mixer?

on the version I have (1,7 osx) on preferences there is just master out and not turntable 1 out / turntable 2 out

    am I wrong?

  • does this thing work with two turntables and mixer? why there is no scope for monitoring the timecode? is this program heavy for cpu...

i tried to connect my 2x technics 1210's with serato vinyls and a pioneer mixer with this but it doesn't seem to work properly... i just got one deck to work but i cant scratch with it... another deck doesnt even work at all..btw. im using m-audio 1010lt soundcard...

  • is that a usb turntable? i want to connect 2 turntables will this work under linux...

  • Nice video bro. is there any way you can use two turntables connected to mixxx and still be able to use a regular mixer with control of cueing and crossfading between two separate channels?

  • how you conect the turnble to your laptop?

are you using some extra card like m.audio connective?

  • Turntable's plugged straight into the laptop using an RCA to 1/8th inch stereo adapter cable (google it). The Stanton T.80 can do line-out, so no preamp is needed. If you only have phono-out on your deck, it should still work because Mixxx can do the preamp processing.

  • GameGod0, I am confused on how your T80 is connected to your laptop. I am looking at doing the same kind of setup but was dissapointed to find that there is no way of connecting your turntable to the X-session pro. I am on a low budget and do not want to have to pay for the full Serato package.

  • btw, any has there been any word on when or if looping will be available in Mixxx?

  • We're working on it, but there's been some other features that have had higher priority. I'm not sure when it'll make it into a release. Maybe 1.6.3, but maybe not.

  • sweet. can I do scratching without a turntable, like in Sweep? I don't have a Ubuntu-operable laptop at the moment, and I miss Scrubby.

  • disappointed that i have to purchase the whole traktor scratch package to enable vinyl control (after purchasing the hardware pieces separately and finding out it's going to cost another 300 USD to enable vinyl control), i'm interested in trying out mixx. so... you've found the latency to be acceptable?

  • Yeah, if your computer is reasonably fast, the latency should be good. It really comes down to your CPU + soundcard though.

  • cool... thanks! i've got a macbook pro and an audio 8 dj, which is an optimal setup for traktor scratch. hopefully it will work out well for mixxx too. i'm planning on testing it out this week....

  • Sweet, I love open source software.

Also, I can't wait to get an X-Session Pro.

  • whats the track i like it

  • lol scratch with m audio mixer lol realy not bad ;o)

  • I bought a gemini TT03 with a M44-7 needle. Are you using Traktor scratch vinyl or Serato CV02?

  • I was asking myself if a setup like yours would work (only one turntable), but now i know it does.

How much latency do you have?

Im looking around for a direct drive turntable, which one should I choose (my budget is not so high)?

    Reloop RP-2000 MK3, Lenco L 3807 Professional, Stanton T.60, Stanton T.80 or DJ Tech?

    Thank you

  • look on ebay i got a technics sl-1200 for 190$and its 500$ at guitar center

  • im from germany, here they cost about 400 Euros used! I already bought a gemini tt-03 (take a look at the next row). I couldnt use because the moron from whom I bought it didnt send me the counterweight... and he didnt even knew that there should be one.

Now Im looking for a Mixer.

Im between Hercules MK2 and Numark Total Control.

  • Sh*t that's awesome! I'd love to be using 12's! Right now I've got a Numark TT1625 on one side and an old Hitachi to retrofit for the other. Congrats on yer' find.

  • Amen Brother

  • Hey sup manso I got 2 gemini TT02 turntables and a gemini ps-121 mixer (they dont have the USB port).do u know how could I connect them to my laptop so I could use the vinyl control on Mixxx 1.6.0I wanna be able to scratch on my pc without buying a new set of turntables and mixer?????????? I really want use the Mixxx program without buying new gear..im broke

  • yo..i have a question....do u know how could i connect my gemini tt2 turntables and mixer to my laptop so i could use the vinyl control mixxx

  • u can buy the MAYA 44 its a cheap sound card but it works

i have torq but i usto have maya 44 it works with virtual dj too

  • what track is that?

btw i like the equipment, and the laptop

  • Thanks!

The track is "Breaker Beats Part 1" by Freestylers. :)

  • i am pissed no Mac PPC version of 1.6.0 its supported just INTEL thats a bitch

i was looking foward to use my dm2

  • i will brake that mixer i would just use it to set my points :-p

  • Vinyl is so old people I sold long time ago my 1200... havy to carry and the rest!!!! no way! laptop is the future pioneer and vestax are the future!

  • Why do people Criticize stuff like this,The T.80 isn't a bad TT at all,and the x-session is pretty ok to.I'm gpoing for the same setup as you GameGod0,love the video, and love mixxx.

  • yur wack and your equipment is shit! technics vestax baby!

  • How do you listen the cue on with that mixer ??

  • how you can pre listed in your headphones!

and for what are the 1 2 3 bottons next to the eq!

  • Nice scratching dude!! Personally, I would of had a pair of 1200's over the T.80. I heard M-Audio's Torq is really good on latency. Good Video!

  • Thanks! I would have taken 1200's too, but I couldn't afford them. I'm considering saving up for a new pair though... :)

  • hmmm..what kind of mixers would work with this program?

    i got vestax VMC-002xl.

should i buy a soundcard with 2 inputs for my laptop?

  • n1 job dude.could you please say to me the name of your turntable?

  • Stanton T.80...

  • Oh, and when will we ever see GameGod's face in a video? The suspense is killing me...

  • Cool! Looks like very low latency and very accurate and fast tracking and positioning with the vinyl control. Really good software! And fascinating, how you make the needle jump without even touching it.. ;-)

  • That's an M-Audio X-Session Pro - It's a $100 MIDI controller by a professional audio company. The point is that all the scratching is being done in software (which you clearly missed).

  • Close your eyes and open your mind.

What would be the difference if he made the same sound he did here, but with an expensive mixer?
