just for the record Remarc + Bizzy B + Bay B Kane + whoever else >>>>> Squarepusher. the irony is that him + all those elitist IDM drill + bass wankers looked down on real jungle when any random Amen rinseout from 1994 is both far better and more creative than his jazz bass noodling whatever. ain't no Squarepusher tune (except maybe My Red Hot Car) ever got a floor moving like Foul Play or DJ Crystl.
@16armed hahaha I was seriously about to say something along the lines of " YO WTF YOU GOT COTTON IN YOUR EARS? " then I read the name and was like.. Oh.. hahaha. Big up 16aj
Get off Remarc's nuts... if you're a true junglist you don't even have to say.. it's just known that remarc is king of the amen. and quit sweating squarepusher, what about everyone else? what about ellis dee and dr s. gachett, krome and time, old hype and ss and what about bay b kane, marvelous cain, old technical itch, everything off of suburban base and redskins and red light, there is soooo much more out there. 1993-1995 were the YEARS! do some research and start DIGGIN !
@VinylFatigueDJ Lol ... mate I'm into my jungle. You don't need to tell me to dig and list loads of obvious artists to listen to, I'm quite capable as I am ... so because I state a known fact suddenly means Im not a true junglist? There's no guide line how to be a true junglist lol ... you either are or you aint.
yeah i got to agree to disagree with you on that one, choppage. Squarepusher is the reason i got down with the scene. I was bumping strictly hip hop, breakbeats and and far out trip hop music back then and i heard the scratch yer head remix by squarepusher and almost died...since then from my side there have been many but i've always dug that style...now he is not a ragga junglist by any stretch of the imagination...but jungle or drum and bass yes...had to get on my soap box sorry.
Squarepusher might fling down a little think break or an amen sometimes- that doesn't make it jungle/drum and bass, Just because NWA roll the amen in Straight outta Compton-is that jungle/drum and bass? IS IT BOLLOCKS!!!!!!!!!
I have been listening to these tunes since before there was even such a genre as jungle, so i am not completely stupid.
But we are all entitled to our own opinions, so you can have that.
@choppageworshipper true dat I wish i could have gotten into the scene around that time. there are amazing junglists or what ever it was called at that time. I am guessing you were right in the thick of it...don't get me wrong the tracks i heard later on were the shiznit...but some of us US cats got into it late. and i think that's what the deal is...I didn't even know the break was called the amen or what it meant until 01. but it's cool that they're are peeps that still dig the music today .
Remarc is the king. Officially added I just got into him thanks to you Chunder. I got into it around 1995. surprised i missed remarc. But big ups to you.
Ha that's pretty funny cause I introduced someone to soundmurderer from comments on a remarc tune, and now I introduced someone else to remarc from comments on a soundmurderer tune :-D.
Menace by remarc is my favourite tune but he's got so many, all of them sick :-).
He still does sets and he's MC Eksman's older brother.
@ChunderChunk Hey, did Menace disappear off the face of the Earth? I can't find the track anymore. It's been removed from Youtube, and there are only a few traces of it online. The shit is gone!
Biggup to that man! Remarc kicks some serious ass even before the whole "Breakcore" era, he was making the dirtiest jungle biznizz before everybody else.
Hell yeah, remarc is the original badboy amen choon pusher, only one other guy i respect for the amens as much a remarc is Bizzy B, his old 94/95 stuff is murder-heavy as!!! his newer stuff is amen bizz straight up and fukin moody but not as good. IMHO

threadpusher, squarepusher aint no junglist man, he just happens to be a bit nimble with the amen thats all.
My gran has been closer to the sunday roast than squarepusher:-)

Couldn't agree with that more. Squarepusher is absolutely NOT a junglist by any stretch of the imagination. It's more of an IDM thing with him.

threadpusher 3 years ago
Don't forget to include remarc in your list of finest junglists. Especially as he was making ill amen edits before squarepusher or soundmurderer did.
