I guess the way I see it is that I feel like I'm growing and maturing with Noel's material. I'm 38 now, and there is simply no way in hell I can enjoy songs like "Bring the Light", or even worse "For Anyone". This song (a mere sound check) is a very serious song and light years away from Definitely Maybe. Just like us, Noel has grown and changed, where as Liam still can't get over paying homage to yesteryear and doing things for shock value. We've all outgrown him.

@JohnQRandom To be fair, Bring the Light is one of the worst songs by Beady Eye (in my opinion), while this is probably the best High Flying Birds song. Beady Eye have some decent songs, like Kill for a Dream and The Beat Goes On. Noel wasn't the only good songwriter in Oasis, Andy isn't bad either.
Brilliant, just brilliant! Noel says in interviews that the songs just come to him, they find him and then he writes it. Do you think he likes to play down his songwriting genius, because surely there's more to it than just sitting down and just writing a classic in 20 minutes. Noel has come along leaps and bounds since 2005. Ever since he discovered singing falsetto on The Importance of being Idle his singing has become so tender and souldful. He's really discovered his niche as a vocalist.

i don't like taking sides because liam is the voice of my generation but noel is definatly the songwriter of many generations!!! liams solo stuff is going to be rocking but lyrically lacking! noel has the content and a better voice than he had 15 years ago!! when he does finally go back to the studio i hope he just keeps it simple and its just him, an acoustic guitar and 20 lambert!!! that to me is noel at his best!!!!

Obviously we all heard the rumours that a solo album would come along but there was always a little doubt in my mind, although I'm not sure why.
