  • Can you build me a model of a town?

  • I thought a tornado starts from the clouds to the ground?

  • @TheUnagie232 not all the time. there are some that start spinning at ground level, reaching up and meeting the funnel midway to the clouds. it is VERY rare, but it has happened. i have seen it.

  • OMG good job am dumb i want to do that

  • do u know that the tornadoes that dont touch ground are called twisters the one on the ground is called tornado

  • @KewlD334 hahaha i feel dumb now haha i didnt kno that... well i deserve dhat

  • Pretty amazing though I've never heard tornado strength has increased? I thought that was a myth due to population increase in previously unpopulated regions. Still though, I'd love to throw a model ship in a pool and run that thing over it.

  • our house !our house!..lol

  • "God: Hidden Science" - Google it!

  • LOL at the guy at 2:52. pink cock sucking lips.

  • hhaha bill galllus is a winner!!

  • if you can create a tornado then i have one question...

y don't you put on protective gear then stand in it and see what happens XD

if u ever do... video tape it pls? :3

  • @nitesXmoon HAHAHAHAHA! i want to see thtat video too

  • @nitesXmoon...why not, because it is not a smart idea...I go to ISU and am in the wind tunnels a lot. A year or two ago, a reporter from Japan decided she wanted to do just that, and they started up the tunnel around her, one move and she was down. And if I recall correctly, that was just experiencing a EF2 or 3 tornado.

  • I did a project on tornados. My teacher said that the tornado is the most has the most power to do this to homes and such. She was right.

  • titties

  • Great minds think alike.

  • If a tornado comes here I'm gonna build my own hobbit home. Suck on that, weather!

  • Dear Prof. Bill Gallus, Please remove your molester-moustache. Thank you.

  • @mikeygee7 lolx

  • this is such a popular experiment

  • LMFAO!

the scientist at the end made me laugh so hard xD. I'm going to marry him LMFAOOOOO

  • wow poptub x)

  • That scientist had such a camp voice

  • dammit i thought this video would be about catching a tornado in a car

  • i love learning about earth

  • giant vacuum cleaner...

  • HOLY CRAP!!!'

  • Awesome video! We featured it on our channel today....so come check it out :)

  • sure its an awesome video but i wanna see the F5 tornado simulator

  • cool

  • LOL everything in america is made out of wood xD

  • oooo nifty

  • Butterfly effect for Texas?

  • are they getting more powerfull or are our things arnt strong enough

  • added to you tube a week ago and already 40,000 views, damn

  • interesting

  • We should do that to Mr.Rogers neighborhood!!!!!!!

    xDDDDDDDDD

  • Haha.

  • lol

  • would of been better if more shit was destroyed :/

  • Fuck it, just dig out huge pits underground and live in there.

  • you make it sound so easy :P

  • that dude gots nigga lips

  • he sounds gay too

  • he's also pretty gay

  • does it matter?

  • do you matter?

  • use cement and concrete not wood and other cheap and light materials...all the wooden houses were knocked and there's one made of bricks who only has the windows broken and probably some roof dmg...

  • Exactly. A simple redign and change in materials would fix it. Really. It's been proven. Of course the home insurance companies won't be to happy about that. :/

  • nice ! i would like to be in one of those lil tornadoes

  • at 3:14-3:16 it looks badass

  • Honorable test.

    I'm curious about the designs.

  • I can imagine a commercial for this "so buy you're tornado in a can today, available at your local bed bath and beyond" "also if you purchase today you can get a free life size cardboard human to destroy with it"

  • 2:55 that guys gross

  • Undeground :) , BUild Homes underground , In 100s years . that will be happening

  • thats cool

  • You tell them Partha!

  • Well, build houses from bricks like we do in Europe. Not with cardboard and wood...

  • go england!

  • guys i graduate today are yall proud of me D:

  • HELL YEAH !!

  • if youre serious then congratz

  • carbine

  • im a tornado in the sack

  • I remember hearing about a project like this... it wasn't quite to this scale... it was much earlier scientific work in this area...

I think we should just dig underground and all have below-ground housing. It wouldn't screw up the landscape so much.

  • bill gallus is sexy...lol

  • partha sarkar is hotter. ^.-

  • dome shaped houses, it's the future!

  • no life

  • Poor sheep.

  • sheep?

  • He was handling dry ice with no gloves im calling OSHA on his ass. Seriously this is cool though.

  • wat happens if you touch dry ice?

  • Lol u get stcuk to it till it dry's and that'll be a longgggg time

  • you burn that part that touch the ice

  • If you touch dry ice, it will be cold. Obviously. But if you touch it for, say, 2 seconds, nothing will happen. But if you touch it for 10 seconds, it will 'bite' you, meaning it will instantly freeze to your hand. This hurts!! This can cause frostbite. If your handling dry ice, use gloves. Also, put the ice in warm water. It will turn directly to a gas.

  • it can cause frostbite in under 10 seconds, it's been recorded. And you're very good to point out to handle dry ice with gloves, and another thing is to not have too much dry ice "fog" in a confined space. It can cause death unless there's good ventilation - open windows, doors, etc. Best place to do it is outside.

  • you'll be hatin' life

  • my dad works for OSHA..XD

  • Wholy shit that was awesome!

  • Wow! How very interesting!

  • because if u keep the windows close, the pressure inside the house get higher that outside, because the static air generes more presion that the flowing air, making the roof ready for takeoff XD

  • what about earthen homes or even better, earthen dome homes, instead of trying to work against the wind work around,it seems dumb to just do what we always do,but tougher, tornadoes seem to have little effect on the ground itself and when i think shelter i mean more the kind that are just doors in the ground leading to a room.

in my head your house could just be like that get some sky light with iron shutters and in a deeply planted earthen home all i could imagine happening is windows sucked out

  • COOL!

  • Prof. Bill reminds me of Bruce from Family Guy. "oh nooooo!"

  • wow that is true (down one)

  • Build on a hill,problem solved

  • get outa kansas :D

  • stupid people who live hear. i mean, its nature . if a tornado keeps wrecking your house you re build every year why dont you just move out. to another state?

  • Yeah but its america if your gonna live their you have to face the fact that their is gonna be tornados if everybody just moved then america would be deserted nobidy would be their so moving is a (N)

  • The indians wouldnt live in tornado zones at certain times of year.

The answer is dont live there or build very tough houses, cant see why thats difficult?

  • People can't afford to move or get someone to build an extremely strong house.

  • It cant be cheap rebuilding a house every year?

Rather than build weak houses every year build strong ones every 500!

Its a gamble though I suppose.

  • what is more costly? moving all your shit or losing all your shit?

  • Losing it all of course. You lose almost nothing moving it, considering that the mover guys don't damage it.

  • crikey . that massive machine just to realise that the wind in a tornado goes round in circles .. i would never have guessed.....

  • no, its to research better ways of building so the houses dont fall apart in a tornado.

  • those tornadoes hit not even 1.5 miles away from me, jump and hit again 2 miles in the other direction. I could see the funnel and circulation in the sky real ominous and creepy feeling looking straight up at it.

  • that thing looks so sweet.

  • an advice... if u see a tornado coming to ure house, open the window.

  • how would that work??

  • @frena323 they were actually testing that when I left for spring break. They wanted to determine whether it is better to open windows or not. They had a single small house with 120 pressure taps on the inside. They started with the house completely closed up and one by one they removed the windows. I haven't heard the results yet, but they were studying this.

  • that is absolutely amazing :D

  • i want one for my room

  • Um, why did they paint the pieces on the models? It's not like color has anything to do with it, it was surely time consuming for something that will eventually be destroyed, and to those who might respond saying "well it's so they can tell what part came from what", please note that marking them with a simple alpha-numeric code would have been much simpler, faster and cheaper.

Granted, it looks better with the paint, but this is supposed to be science where that doesn't matter for shit....

  • ever thought maybe they bought it?

  • so when they collect the pieces they know what came from where

  • perhaps it would be easier to identify and associate pieces with the buildings to see the how far or how much damage the tornado does?

  • well it's so they can tell what part came from what

  • I don't mean to sound like an insensitive jerk, but once your house is demolished by a tornado for the umpteenth time, isn't it a good idea to, I dunno, not live in one of Tornado Alley's hot spots anymore?

  • How can we scare more people?

Let's say that tornados are getting more powerful!!! Is there any scientific reason for saying this? Naw - but it sells!

  • :P :P indeed

  • insurance.

very very few percent of homes are effected.

  • i dont think fighting anture is smart...

serously the solution is so easy!!!

Build a house same as anyother acept under the house is a steel room i mean the wall and cieling are made of steel... and they should keep the family savings in there too...

  • Handling dry ice, no gloves. Safety hazard yo! I want to see goggles people!

  • they know better their job than you :)

  • live underground.

  • ahh human wants to go against the nature.

  • that second sceientist looks like a pedophile

  • hahahaha, and he still probably makes more money then you hashaha

  • yeah he does rofl

  • I made my own tornado chamber 3 feet tall as a science project, (I won the science fair!) and I think this is a very accurate model. The town probably isn't, though.

  • I just felt sorry for all those tiny little people in the village not knowing what the hell was going on :p

  • I hear those Dome houses are very good at high winds, but then they might roll away with you in it..lol.

I would opt for something underground, like those houses built into a hill, look cool too.

  • Brilliant!! Why don't we have them? Why Not?

  • dude can you explain why is it i said the same thing as you..... days earlier and get thumbs downed to hell

  • people will thumb down people who swear, even if it's a good comment.

  • fuck that

  • i must reiterate then, and thank you very much for answering, but once again in the great wise words of george carlin "people are fucking dumb"

how bout this, everyone thumbs downing me doesnt deserve to have an underground home when tornados come. if expressive language in a free forum bothers anyone that much fuck them, grow up, its not like im saying anything bad or wrong or logically unsound. am i really getting thumbed down for naughty language.....meh im done

  • u are so stupid and boring u argue with everyone, even on ur stupid videos where u think ur actually cool punching a bag lol

  • i argue with morons like you and like i said on the video page to the other idiot who said im cool? lol and id like to see you do anything like it

  • those are comments from other shit for brains like you who get pissed off they cant have a rational or logical argument also like you then go and watch my vids and then being the losers they are have to try and shit on it

  • u are funny.

  • lol thanks

  • I'm with you on the underground houses, man. I went to the comment page and had to laugh as every comment from you is thumbed down. Hell, even vitruvian8807 who answered you, saying that swearing gets thumbed down even in good comments, has been thumbed down. And since I've responded to you positively, that means I'll get thumbed down too for no cunt fucking shit buggering reason. Go figure. It's like your comments are a magnet for prepubescent morons who grew up learning that swearing is evil.

  • seriously, youtube gives a widow into just how fucking stupid way, way, too many people are, and aside from being brutally ignorant and dumb theres another truckload of angry projecting assholes who get to be themselves for once with the magic of the internet lol i never fail to get tangled into some dumb baseless argument, with some witless twit, whos line of attack is; im a dummy and no one likes me so there. i see about 3 or 4 people who said the same thing i did and agree out of 148 comments

  • Lulz at the rant (and the comment you left on my profile)!

"seriously, youtube gives a widow into just how fucking stupid way, way, too many people are,"

I'm one of those faith-in-humanity type of guys so I just imagine most of the ear bleedingly dense people are kids. Through a computer their voice is as loud as any adult's.

  • faith in humanity? i gave up on that long ago, most people are just monkeys, who act like they never got out of school or past puberty, as a matter of fact its the 40 somethings here in america and up that are particularly dumb and generally racist. trust me i live here, theyre just seperated by animals by the fact we understand each others language and that certinaly doesnt make them better to me, but i know in the end its my fault for being so logical and boring having thoughts based in facts

  • @narezul:

Yeah, I always say that anyone who was older than 20 in the 1970's was an idiot, insane or an asshole.

But really, no one thinks they're wrong or stupid...do they?

  • or some special combo of all 3.oh actually i do, all the time, its my drive to be niether of those things that makes me read and learn all kinds of shit and think and ponder and make myself strong, but ive noticed how certain of themselves idiots are, im always open to ideas and certainly proof lol i get into arguments sometimes, they go, "ok prove me wrong" i do, its not... i didnt know that or but heres some evidence to contradict that its fuck you, slur, bullshit, thumbs down, your video suckslol

  • ha... lol

  • Awesome video. I suspect the simulation of the wind is a lot more accurate than the model of the town though.

  • Good point. They would need to put the building strength to scale with the tornado strength in the real world for any designs to be viable.

  • you know we have learned so much in this video of yours

  • Comment removed

  • unfortunatly the costs of building down are alot greater than building up, so i dont think it would work to well, plus what about sunlight? replicating that would use alot of energy, but it would darn cool to live underground.

  • It costs only 12,000 US 2 years ago or so, to have a home dug out in Australia. Built in shelves, cupboards, and bed pedestal! Plus, if they strike opal while digging, you can make money building!

  • The heating and cooling costs would also help offset the costs of building underground - building a few feet down causes the ground to act as a natural insulator.

  • go IOWA!

  • cool

  • Amazingonte

  • I bet the military would be interested in somthing like this. Tornado warfare lol.

  • lol you guys even fight over fucking weather reports, geez

  • What about building houses underground?

  • Nice

  • Pretty cool. I'm sure it will be costly to reinforce existing structures and incorporate new technologies, but will save lives in the event of these catastrophes.

  • smoke weed

  • that is so cool

  • this makes me want to have the discovery channel

  • 0:37 cool black chinese guy

  • umhmm dude...he's indian lol

  • Thats an indian you fucking idiot.

  • super tuesday of what year

  • Tornados are far more destructive than hurricane in a LOCALIZED area. By that I mean the winds and destructive force is greater in a small area. I admit that hurricanes are more destructive overall. I went through a F5 in Nebraska that did $500,000,000 and totally destroyed hundreds of homes and IMHO did more damage to my neighborhood than Hurricane Ike.

  • wow! i hate tornadoes yet they're sort of cool (other than the part that they cause destruction and kill people)

  • This is happening because of Global Warming

  • XD

    a Tsunami is worst

  • Dudes got a Failstache

  • Dudes gay. He's been taking estrogen rather than shaving.

  • haha yeah hes a total fucking faggot

  • i wanna see a tonado live

  • when i saw the title i thought the can would be like a can of coke.

i need one of those machines to play with :D

  • LOL, americans have to endure tornados, all we have is cyclones

    <
