@GoldenLegends100 Anthony Charles Lynton Blair has never been friends with Mr Hitchens, so why would he call him "Tony" as if they were bosom buddies?
Very good documentary. However, he should have also focused on EU corruption, which will always be the case as it has been brought into life by beaurocrats only.
I can't help but think of Eddie Izzard and his bit about the UK being partly in Europe, partly not, edging slowly towards Europe while paddling away at the same time.
Personally the only different I have noticed since the introduction of the Euro is how much convenient it is to travel around Europe so to me it is a mystery how joining the Euro is a problem for distributing wealth to the working class. Seems to work as well before as after the Euro here in Finland.
Unlike Australia which became a federation in 1901, where all states had a common ancestry & safe guarded certain state powers in the constitution (with the senate). I don't see how the EU benefits the average Joe Bloggs of any member states.
There are Euro skeptics in other major EU nations too.
I've seen a German CDU MP likening EU legislation to the equivalent of the Versailles Treaty & the Enabling Act. How much freedom those give the German people?
The elections are in what, 9 days, so why have only 68 people watched this doc? Sometimes one gets the impression that nobody is really thinking about these things. Well I am. I think Im opposed to peter hitchens in just about every one of my tentatively formed opinions, but he has the sort of demeanor than demands that you reasses your views. Go back to first priciples, like anthony said.
Read "The Great Deception: Can the European Union Survive?" by Christopher Booker and Richard North. It's the best researched and documented history of the EU out there. The EU is great for the current generation of political elites, but a disaster for Europe and its people.
Well done Mr H, the whole coutry should watch the series.

Why does Peter Hitchens always say "Anthony Blair" - rather than "Tony Blair"?
GoldenLegends100 10 months ago
@GoldenLegends100 He always uses full names, as he dislikes the fact that politicians try to act 'matey', rather than with due formality.

Bravo Mr Hitchens. A superb critique of a shitty parasitic monolithic behemoth called the EU. Let's get out of it now.
