I was a new gen. 16-17yr in early 70's & I got it! doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out! 24,000 student univ. fresh livin. in cell block 21 dorm rm & liberal U. pop art yackty yack posters 24/7, peace marches..u name it. All it focused on was the bad in his life. It barely touched on what he contributed to the world through his music in a positive (though admittedly dark) vein.

Don't get me wrong, it was a great movie, but it wasn't the whole story either.

@hambone9119 Yeah but thats the difference between a documentary and a movie. A movie needs a central conflict and the conflict best suited for the job was his romance with June. When they got married that conflict resolved and there was no more story there. A lot of biopics neglect this and what happens? The bottom falls out 2/3s in. Not to mention the movie was cramped as it was. Fifteen years is a lot to cover in two hours.
