i am an avid fan of ibanez my self. i used to own a vintage goldtop 72' ...bought a ibanez rg470L in 99,now its all i play....still sound like scholz!!!!
nice!!! add a wee bit of sustain and cut back a smidge on the distortion....and you will be perfect!!! i am a player myself...ive tuned my ear thru 30 + years of playing boston tunes...youve got a nice sound,man.....
If I could make a request, would you play cover of the song "Don't Look Back" or at least part of it? I have been dying to hear it played cover with Rockman gear!!
Bad ass. I've got the Sustainor 200, Stereo Echo, Stereo Chorus. Just won the EQ on Ebay. 3 EQ's huh?? Gonna try one post sustainor and an MXR pre and see what I get. Very happy with the sustainor too. Everything goes into a Marshall and through a 200O Les Paul too...
I'd start with a Rockman X100 which is the original headphone amp. I used mine as a preamp for a while. It's about $50.00 on Ebay. I think Dunlop also still manufactures a version of it as well.
@coopmister00 Actually the Boston Sound on the "Boston" & "Don't Look Back" was before all this Rockman Derived electronics and was just a Marshall Head turned all the way up which is why he needed the first invention the "Power Soak" to attenuate the volume while allowing the Pre-Amp & Output Tubes to get really hot and sing. Most "Tube Amplifiers" are also designed as a Push-Pull configuration where you need a minimal of two (2) tubes in the output stage, but you can use multiples.
@egcroan Additional single set of two (2) output tubes as you would have in a 50 watt amplifier is easier to match than four (4) output tubes so they tend to sing or have a sweeter sustain especially if cranked all the way up. 100 watts is certainly louder and most bands use them for touring, but for recording nothing sounds sweeter than a cranked 50 watt amplifier. Judas Priest as well as AC/DC have confessed to having special amps they record with, and use different amps for touring.
Great job. I've learned the better half of this solo and it's neither difficult nor easy. It's kind of hard to replicate the solo if you are lacking the rockman equipment. But I see you've got that covered.
How much did that rig set you back? If I'm not mistaken it looks like you have 3 EQs in the bottom stack alone. Nice! I wish had that. Or, at least an EQ and a sustainor. Too bad the Rockman prices have skyrocketed on sites like eBay in the past 5 or 6 months.
@717mienbao The first is a post sustainor which is meant to refine the signal before going to the next module. The next is the pre-distortion EQ and then a post distortion. It can really be done with two, but I've had the best results using three
Thanks, I have spent more time trying to get the sound I want than actually practicing guitar. The sustainor is a great piece of equipment (I use two, one for clean, the other for distortion) but I have found that the EQ's make the difference. I have one pre-EQ, another EQ for Distortion or clean and a final post EQ. That seems like a load, but I have been happy with the sound so far.
loved it...thanks for posting..

@revwjh If you can find a Rockman II B try it out, and you will hear a different distortion that is slightly dirtier.

Thanks, It did take awhile to aquire it all. I did get it all from EBAY over the last 10 years or so. 3 eq's have really made the difference for me.
BlackHawk5555 3 years ago
@BlackHawk5555 i gotta ask, so where do 3 eq's get put in the chain? After the guitar before the first effect, after the effects and then what?
