@MrSebb1994 It's quite good when it comes to feedback. The floating neck mini-humbucker is pretty nice sounding, but whether it's good for you is rather more down to your preferences and technique I think. Like for instance the non-fixed bridge tends to move (a lot) if you are heavy handed. They are nice, but particular guitars :)
Looking to buy a Hagstrom... personally love the look of the 550 but the only thing that may be the difference is first how it feels, and second is because it only has one pickup. You sound great by the way, as does the guitar. Can you get a fair amount of different sounds out of it though?
@NDOrehowsky I don't mind the single pickup much, can use the tone and various pedals to vary it up a bit. It's a full hollow and it's no more prone to feedback than my semi hollow ES335. The 550's floating neck mount PU might be why. If I was to play only one guitar though, I wouldn't mind having a bridge PU on it as well. Choices choices...
@edudzzaj I suppose I'd have to agree with you on having more than one pickup... but even though I haven't played the 550 yet, watching and listening you play and just the look alone of it makes me want to buy it! Thanks for the input
Very nice playing! I enjoyed listening, but I have also been researching Hagstrom a bit, I want one of these 550s for sure. Got any of the other models? I've also been liking the Swede. Keep jazzin'!
@BitterBosh Other than the HL550 I own no Hag's but the Viking and swede both seem pretty good so far, I didn't try many but the are pretty good for the money. However, I would examine it closely before buying. They are mass produced so make sure you pick a good one and you should be getting a lot of guitar for your money.
I ordered mine and theres a problem with the truss rod, not quite sure what I'll be doing about it, otherwise the guitar is nice.
i had a problem where the jack lead was put into the guitar (good quality planet waves lead) and the metal receptor just fell into the guitar. I took it back to the store and asked for a refund or credit against another guitar. Store told me this happens all the time with guitars which I think it total nonsense - hasn't happened to me in 20 years of playing. Any thoughts- jonathan.fenton@talktalk.net. Pity - geat sounding guitar - excellent playing
Excellent playing, I look forward to seeing future videos. I have been considering getting a Hagstrom HL 550, and your video has definitely showed how great this guitar can sound in the right hands.
@DomFuriani All hollowbodies (full/semi) feedback easier, especially with a bit of volume/gain. That being said, I have to play this pretty damn loud on my vox ac30 before it will feedback (in a small kitchen).
@paraguitar I got .011 elixir electrics on it now, plan on getting flatwounds.
It's a great guitar, plays like butter and has a nice tone, open the pots and it's warm and bright, turn the tone back and it mellows down nice and jazzy. Has tons of sustain.
I can tell it's been mass produced on inspection, truss rod is very hard to turn (not sure if thats a flaw or something to do with the double pinch truss) but it seems well put together and I love the way it plays and sounds.
it´s the first time i see that model (agree that´s a really cool looking guitar). Different tone respect the 335 (more bright and defined chords, i guess ebony fretboard etc) but i like it too.
The fretboard and bridge on this are made of a composite wood they call "resinator wood" - it's similar to ebony in look and sound. This guitar has a much deeper body than the 335 and is a full hollowbody, right now it still has .011 strings, I will be putting .012 or .013 flatwounds on it later which should change the tone a bit.
Cool Video
I like that guitar
Would you say that it sounds good with an fender amp?Especially because of the feedback!
Also i don't know if this guitar would be good for Blues!
Greeting
Sebastian

Have you done any voice work for NPR? lol. j/k. Nice guitar and great playing. Thanks for the demo. I'm thinking about getting one of these myself.
jawsrock1 1 year ago
NPR? No I live in Norway ;)
If this is a job offer, I am interested, but if you ask me to play chart music there might be ...unfortunate results.
edudzzaj 1 year ago
@edudzzaj Norway? Very nice. No, unfortunately it's not a job offer. Unfortunate results? Do things catch on fire or something? :)

@jawsrock1 only Hanson brothers and Billy Ray Cyrus records, maybe some others :)

Stian, Been looking for a jazz box and found out about Hagstrom today. Looks and sounds great. What strings are you using?

@edudzzaj got .012 flatwounds on it now, and the sound is quite different, lot less bright, lot more "woody" and ...jazz :) video coming soon

it´s the first time i see that model (agree that´s a really cool looking guitar). Different tone respect the 335 (more bright and defined chords, i guess ebony fretboard etc) but i like it too.
Glad you came back to the jazz side.
Best regards, Jose.
